Butterfly: Daniel Dae Kim Brings His Korean-American Experience to the Forefront in Amazon Prime Video Project
Image
In Butterfly, Amazon Prime Video‘s upcoming spy thriller series, Daniel Dae Kim fuses action-packed missions with his Korean-American identity. For Hawaii Five-0 actor, the series gave him a unique opportunity to merge the worlds of his birth country and the place where he grew up. In an exclusive interview with TV Insider, Kim explained his drive to connect both cultures in the show. He said,

I’ve always been interested in projects that bridge cultures. Being Korean American, I’ve lived and experienced two different ones that I have never seen really melded together on screen before through the lens of someone like me.

The series is based on the Boom! Studio’s graphic novel by Arash Amel. But it has been fully reimagined, moving its European setting to South Korea. Kim made this decision to reflect his cultural experiences and center the story around identity and family. He added,...

Every Scrubs Season Finale, Ranked
Image
Scrubs ran for nine seasons, and at the end of most of them was a finale that served as the culmination of all the episodes before it. While not all of them ramp up the series' stakes, they do most commonly bring their season's storylines to a satisfying conclusion. The only exception to this are the two seasons with finales that weren't planned to be so.

Scrubs' season finales get to the heart of what makes the iconic sitcom so beloved. The characters and their relationships develop, the status quo changes, and famous guest stars pop in. More than once, the show also ends seasons with cliffhangers to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.

"My Princess" Wasn't Supposed to Be a Season Finale, and it Shows

Scrubs' seventh season was cut short by the 2007 writer's strike. As a result, its final episode, "My Princess," was not written to be a finale.

All 3 "Final" Scrubs Episodes Explained
Image
Scrubs tried to end a total of three times, but the medical sitcom's trio of finales all happened for different reasons. The attempts at ending the show came at various points across all nine seasons of Scrubs, but only one of them hit the mark. Weirdly, the only episode that allowed the show to end fittingly wasn't even the final installment overall. Scrubs arguably continued past the point that would have served best as the story's ending. Unfortunately, it didn't, and the sitcom finished with three episodes that could reasonably be believed to act as at least a soft conclusion.

Not every doctor in Scrubs returned for season 9. As such, some characters didn't experience as many finales as others. That being said, it doesn't make it any more unusual that the show failed to arrive at a natural stopping point that was deemed sufficient for a line to be drawn under it.

All 7 Scrubs Episodes Directed By Zach Braff, Ranked
Image
Zach Braff's directorial efforts on Scrubs were among the show's most memorable due to his understanding of the show's aesthetic. Despite the slickness and artful reflection in Braff's episodes, some lacked the signature zaniness and comedic identity of Scrubs. "My Way Home," a tribute to The Wizard of Oz, stands out as one of Braff's best-directed episodes, seamlessly blending references to the classic film with the show's own identity.

Like many sitcoms, Scrubs had a great many directors during its run, but Zach Braff is among one of its most prominent. As well as leading the Scrubs cast as the head-in-the-clouds Dr. John "Jd" Dorian, Braff also stepped behind the camera to direct seven episodes. Since Scrubs, Braff has been in the director's chair for other sitcoms like Ted Lasso and Shrinking, but also his own movie projects, such as 2023's A Good Person. Braff's Scrubs episodes sit well...
