If you have not seen Murderville or a fan of improv, watch this episode because it's pure comedy and it's less than an hour ( 52 minutes).
And if you do not like it, just can make up the 52 minutes that you lost by scrolling through your phone for hours.
Will Arnett and Jason Bateman are great, I sense some Arrested Development character feel on their improv. Maya Rudolph was her Saturday night live self. So Watch Murderville and Who Killed Santa and trust me you will not regret it.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
I've missed Murderville and been awaiting a Season 2 announcement since the day Season 1 debuted.
Jason Bateman and Will Arnett are an incredible team. Arrested Development fans - there's a shout out or two for you along the way.
The assistant was hilarious. Pete Davidson was hilarious. Maya Rudolph gave a solid performance. Sean Hayes was hilarious. Marshawn Lynch stole the show, just like he did in Season 1.
While this obviously doesn't guarantee future episodes, it was a great revitalization of the show.
Cast is amazing. Improv during show was hilarious. Insanely grateful to have found this.
The joy derived from this show is at it's heart not about the story; it's not about how good the improv is. It's about the experience, and it's just funny.
Everyone involved is outwardly having a good time. Unless you're sporting a cold dead heart that's been stabbed by a well-licked candy cane, you should be too.
I've enjoyed the spectrum of all the guests and the different ways they've handled being thrown into the fire every single time.
Specifically though, this Christmas special delivered. Phenomenal chemistry all around. If you like Maya Rudolph and Jason Bateman, you're getting full blown Maya and Jason.
Talking specifics would cheapen the jokes, so I'll just say my biggest laugh of the entire run of this show happened in this episode.
9/10.
This was probably the mist fun episode of the series. And partnering up Bateman and Rudolph was fun due to seeing them bounce off of each other instead of being left alone.
I was like an excited kid watching this because it was the first time in a long while that I just shut my brain off and had fun for an hour. It is just stupid, silly fun.
And it would have been perfect except for Pete Davidson showing up last minute. My constant grin literally sunk when he showed up. I'm sick of seeing his face. His 15 minutes really should be up by now. I'm tired of seeing someone who isn't funny, and just kills time with random laughing instead of being professional, getting so many opportunities. HE'S NOT FUNNY and he sucks at everything. Let him go away.
I didn't laugh quite as much in this one, and I think maybe part of it was the format of having 3 'detectives' at once. Bateman had some hilarious scenes before Maya Rudolph showed up, and then I think it just got too... complex. They couldn't really play off of each other.
Don't get me wrong, Rudolph is great, particularly in Idiocracy and Brooklyn 99, but in terms of creative improv she was kind of a dud. Didn't really laugh much at anything she did.
And then for some dumb reason they brought in Pete Davidson for the last 10 minutes, who I still to this day struggle to see why anyone thinks is funny. Just basically came in and messed the whole thing up. Truly the Britta of the comedy universe.
Started off great, ended with a fizzle. I sort of wish that the guest stars would have tried a bit more and gotten more into it. I've seen dozens of live improv shows and it's easy to tell when people are dialing it in.
And he seems like a chill guy, but for the love of Pete, no more Davidson.
