Mike Colter first played Power Man in Jessica Jones and later took centre stage in two seasons of his solo series, Luke Cage. The actor also reprised the role in The Defenders and was well-regarded by comic book fans.
Some questionable decisions were made in Luke Cage season 2 and the hero's story ended with him becoming Harlem's new crime boss. That cliffhanger was never resolved and the show's first season remains one of the original Marvel Television's best-reviewed titles.
Marvel Studios regained the rights to the Marvel Television characters who appeared on Netflix and Daredevil has been a clear priority for the MCU. Rumours continue to swirl about Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again but, for the time being, she, Luke Cage and Iron Fist remain on the shelf.

After the Marvel Cinematic Universe achieved the impossible by assembling Earth's Mightiest Heroes on the big screen, the sky wasn't even a limit anymore. Superhero stories could reach unprecedented new heights across different mediums, and epic crossovers could materialize at any time. As a result, the Netflix and Disney deal was born — a collaboration that resulted in the creation of a genre-redefining series that took the world by storm during its first seasons.
Matt Murdock, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, and Jessica Jones would each star in multi-season shows that would eventually collide in a big crossover event in the form of The Defenders. For a moment, it seemed this new television universe would go on to be as successful as the MCU itself. However, fast-forward a few years and all that we can do is re-watch these now-cancelled projects.
So what happened? Why did a show so psychologically investing as Jessica Jones bite the dust?...

After The Matrix made Carrie-Anne Moss a household name, she was offered a wave of major Hollywood roles. However, at the time, the actor opted to turn them down.
Speaking to The Independent, Moss said she decided to step away from acting to focus on raising her family. "After The Matrix was such a big deal, I took a big, big break to have children and be with them," she said. "I remember being torn, having a little twinge like, 'Gosh, I’m getting offered such great things. That would be such a huge deal.' And I was holding my baby in my arms, and I remember thinking, 'At the end of my life, will it matter to me that I have another movie on my résumé? Or will it matter to me that I held my baby?' And I instantly thought, no. It was just a no-brainer.

Daredevil: Born Again is finally here, but Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) might not be the only hero from Marvel's former Netflix partnership to be coming to the MCU. Alongside Murdock and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a.k.a. The Punisher, a new rumor suggests that The Defendersmight get a chance at redemption on Disney+. The first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are currently available to stream, with new episodes being released weekly. The series is already a hit with fans — despite some harsh comparisons to the original show — and Marvel might be looking to use that success to launch even more shows using the McU's most underappreciated heroes.
According to The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez, Marvel Studios might be introducing the rest of The Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again, and then potentially give the rag-tag team their own series. "I know the Defenders are expected to return," Perez said.

If you poll one hundred people and ask their opinions on the Marvel Netflix shows, you’ll likely get one hundred different responses. Each show had different themes and vibes. It makes sense considering each character differed in various ways. And, if we're being honest, the ball was dropped on some of the programs.
As Marvel Studios began pushing to bring their comic book characters “home”, Netflix canceled their Marvel shows. After that, it seemed like we’d seen the last of Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones. Thanks to a report from Entertainment Weekly, they could become part of the MCU like Charlie Cox's Daredevil.
Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum said, "we are very much exploring" bringing back Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist/Danny Rand to the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

With “Daredevil: Born Again” now streaming on Disney+, picking up the story of Netflix’s “Daredevil” almost seven years later, you might find yourself wanting to check out other corners of the Marvel world, as Netflix envisioned them. And, like the MCU, there is a correct order to do that in.
For the record, we’d say that you don’t have to watch “Daredevil” in order to understand “Born Again” (here’s why). But we definitely think you should, at least if you’re interested in Marvel’s no-kill superhero.
From there, you can meet his friends, who are introduced in the other Netflix Marvel shows. But there are a few ways you can go about it.

Love it or hate it, Rotten Tomatoes is now more important than ever when it comes to whether film and TV fans decide to check out the latest releases at home or in theaters, and it's not uncommon for studios to tout scores as proudly as star ratings.
In 2015, Marvel Television and Netflix launched Daredevil. That was followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and, eventually, an Avengers-inspired team-up called The Defenders. There was even a spin-off for The Punisher.
Following this week's premiere of Daredevil: Born Again, we're taking a look at how each of the shows set in his corner of the MCU compare based on their respective Rotten Tomatoes scores. This era of storytelling was something of a mixed bag and you'll likely be surprised by how these shows fared with critics.

Janet McTeer In Negotiations To Star As Professor Minerva McGonagall In HBO's Harry Potter TV Series
HBO's "Harry Potter" TV series may have just found its Professor Minerva McGonagall, and in the tradition of the late, great Dame Maggie Smith, the character will be played by another decorated actress of stage and screen. Deadline reports that Janet McTeer, the two-time Oscar nominee and Tony Winner who was recently seen in FX's "The Old Man," is "in negotiations" to take on the role.
McTeer has been acting on screen since the 1980s, earning accolades for turns in movies like "Albert Nobbs" and "Tumbleweed" and taking memorable roles in Netflix's "Ozark," "Jessica Jones," and more. Most recently, she appeared opposite Jeff Bridges in the aforementioned FX drama, and played the goddess Hera in the Greek pantheon series "Kaos." McTeer also had a memorable part in 2022's comedic horror hit "The Menu," and earned an Emmy nod for playing the wife of Winston Churchill in the 2009 miniseries "Into the Storm.

Daredevil: Born Again premiered its first two episodes on Disney+ on Mar. 4, 2025, and it seemingly is a big hit with critics and audiences. Many are already calling it the best Marvel Disney+ series. Since it seems impossible to raise something up without tearing another title down, this has led a few individuals to use this moment to bring down She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, one of the last time audiences saw Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the MCU.
Despite She-Hulk getting positive reviews from critics and its own passionate fanbase, it was also the target of an online hate campaign before the series debuted that got it saddled with the perception of being the most divisive MCU title ever, though it is hard to be worse than Iron Fist or Secret Invasion.

In October 2013, it was confirmed that Marvel Television and Netflix were collaborating on a series of television shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, to have them crossover in a team-up event, The Defenders. It was clearly modeled after Marvel Studios' successful strategy of introducing a group of four central heroes in solo projects before culminating in The Avengers. If it worked once before, it stands to reason it will work again. Sadly, that didn't happen.
While the road to The Avengers had a breakout hit with Iron Man and more mixed reaction to the other films, with The Avengers being a major success, the reverse was true for The Defenders. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage all got positive reviews from critics and audiences, with the only misfire being Iron Fist. However, The Defenders was a disappointment for fans. It’s been a long wait, but Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is finally front and center in his own series again with “Daredevil: Born Again.” After three seasons leading the formerly-of-Netflix series “Daredevil” (as well as one season of “The Defenders” and a few MCU drop-ins), Cox and Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio are back for the Disney+ series.
A new streaming home also means a new release schedule, and while “Daredevil” diehards may be used to a 13-hour binge-watch, “Born Again” will roll out episodes weekly — with just nine episodes — from the premiere on March 4 to the finale on April 15.
While we can’t help with the jonesing for new episodes for those accustomed to the “Daredevil” binge-watch, we can make sure you never miss a new installment when it drops. Here is everything to know about the full “Daredevil: Born Again” episode release schedule.

Daredevil is back and it’s good to have him. The “Street-Level” shows Marvel produced for Netflix in the 2010s gave us some of the best superhero TV of all time, particularly “Jessica Jones” and The Man Without Fear’s brutal first run.
This Disney+ sequel, appropriately titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” seems a smidge less dark and violent. That could just be because what is essentially the series’ fourth season is nine episodes long instead of earlier incarnations’ 13, which leaves less time for Charlie Cox’s blind Defender with the heightened other senses to break limbs and suffer the lacerations his Catholic guilt drives him to seek out.
But fear not. There are extended beatdowns and gory murders in each new chapter. The real punishment this time around, however, is meted out to the rule of law and political decency in New York City. With endless parallels to what’s going on in Washington D.

However, it soon emerged that the moment was a happy coincidence, not an Easter Egg teasing the announcement of Ritter reviving the role. Anime dubbing has evolved a lot in the last 30 years. Localization has gotten a lot better, along with the translations and script writing, which means the dubbing has also gotten more advanced as time has gone on. This is a really good thing, as the days of Speed Racer are long passed. Anime dubbing has also had a mixed reputation for a very, very long time, despite the many strides that have been made in that arena. In fact, many dub artists in anime these days are celebrities in their own right, coming out to the screams of adoring fans at conventions across the world.
There is something fun about having a recognizable celebrity pop up in anime. Playing the "wait, I know that voice!" game with one's friends can be a lot of fun, and sliding down that IMDb rabbit hole can be more than a little gratifying. Hollywood...

One thing guaranteed to stir up the Marvel fandom is a post from Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter announcing she is heading to New York right at the same time Daredevil: Born Again is about to kick off filming on Season 2. However, it seems that – for now - this is not her purpose in NYC as she is actually set to join a different franchise in a new “killer” role as part of Dexter: Resurrection.
The ever-popular Ritter, who most recently appeared in another sequel series, Orphan Black: Echoes, has been constantly sharing posts on Instagram hinting at her return to the role to Jessica Jones, and with Daredevil: Born Again now very much becoming a continuation of the Netflix Daredevil series, fans still hope that it will not be long before she is back on screens as Jessica Jones. After the end of her time as part of the Clone Club, Krysten Ritter has found a killer new television role, and it's not the one you're thinking. The Jessica Jones star is joining Michael C. Hall in Showtime's upcoming Dexter: Resurrection, though unlike in her Marvel tenure, she won't be putting her detective skills to work. Instead, per Deadline, she's getting a full arc as a guest star, playing Mia Lapierre, known by her alter ego as the "Lady Vengeance" serial killer. The news tracks with an earlier post on Instagram by Ritter noting she was "NYC bound baby" in preparation for a showdown with Dexter Morgan.

Though we had been led to believe that Netflix's Marvel shows were no longer considered canon when Marvel Studios announced brand-new MCU content would be developed for the Disney+ streaming service, things clearly changed after Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) later returned for a memorable role in the Echo series, and Daredevil: Born Again will essentially serve as a fourth season of Netflix's original Dd show.
It also sounds as if there could be plans in place for the Man Without Fear's fellow Defenders.

With a standout cast led by Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh, "Manifest" was a frankly baffling TV series that wrapped a biblical fable in the trappings of "Lost." Originally airing on NBC, it was canceled in 2021 -- a year in which Netflix released some of its best series. The streamer rescued "Manifest" and allowed it to finish its story in a wild and explosive fashion.
For those of us still feeling burned by the series finale, there are plenty of shows like "Manifest" you can stream right now. For everyone else, we've finally gotten around to explaining its rapturous ending.

What You Need To Remember About The Plot Of Manifest
"Manifest" is a supernatural mystery drama about a group of people who are essentially teleported five years into the future as a consequence of some unexplained paranormal phenomenon that occurred during a commercial flight.

Spider-Man’s Rights Issues Could Mean He Cannot Appear in Disney+ Shows Like 'Daredevil: Born Again'
Spider-Man is by far the most-recognized Marvel Comics character by far, and the most profitable. With the character’s latest live-action iteration preparing to swing out in his fourth MCU solo movie, with Tom Holland once again playing the role of Peter Parker, fans have been questioning whether there is a chance that he will be making an appearance in any New York-based shows coming to Disney+ - namely Daredevil: Born Again.
In recent years, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has hinted that Marvel Studios is ready to re-embrace “street-level” heroes like Daredevil, and in many ways that category also includes Spider-Man as he protects New York City. At the time, Feige said:
"We've got the street-level with the announcement of Daredevil and of course, Spidey going into the street-level heroes."
This suggested to many fans that there was crossover potential for the two superheroes to come together, and be joined...

Marvel continues to evolve plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the TV show Moon Knight has now been cancelled.
Marvel Studios is in the middle of a pivot for its ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while subtly changing the direction of something so large and lumbering takes time, there are occasional markers laid down that give us a clear sense of where things are heading.
One such marker is today’s announcement from Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum, stating that Moon Knight won’t be getting a second season.
Prior to the release of WandaVision in 2021, Marvel television was ostensibly part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but any links to the wider series of films were usually pretty spurious. Programmes like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix shows such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones rarely featured much in the way of tie-in material apart from the odd reference to events in the films,...

Daredevil: Born Again is finally set to premiere on Disney+ next month after a number of setbacks, revamps and production delays, Marvel Television is wasting very little time in returning to the mean streets of Hell's Kitchen to get the ball rolling on season 2.
There were rumors that production on the second season of Marvel's revival series was scheduled to commence in late February, and star Charlie Cox recently confirmed that cameras will start rolling before the season 1 premiere.
Now, Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, has revealed that Born Again season 2 will be with us at some point next year.

Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man" kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a multimedia superhero property that would remain dominant in the pop consciousness for over a decade. Initially, "Iron Man" and Louis Leterrier's own 2008 MCU movie "The Incredible Hulk" (which finally got a sequel of sorts in 2025) were meant to be mere stand-alone superhero sories, only including references to the Avengers as a cute wink to fans. But when Disney purchased the Marvel library in 2009, a grander plan was put in motion, laying out multiple films at once, each one introducing a new character. Eventually, all the superhero characters teamed up in 2012's "The Avengers," which was essentially the cinematic version of a TV season finale. That structure held fast through to "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, the 22nd film in the franchise, and one that featured many, many superheroes.

The medieval-inspired Continent and dimly lit streets of Hell's Kitchen may be worlds apart in many ways, but they share a similar brilliant mastermind behind them. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich brought Netflix's The Witcherto international acclaim in 2019, but first, she created a different kind of epic: 2017's ambitious crossover and Marvel's biggest TV series, The Defenders.
Before she began telling the story of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, Hissrich skillfully connected four stories of four Marvel heroes, building a foundation that prepared her for the sophisticated imaginary realms she went on to design. Her move from Marvel's street-level heroes to Netflix's biggest fantasy property highlights how skills acquired in one genre can adapt to another in the right hands.

Since WandaVision aired in 2021, Marvel Studios has produced no less than 11 original TV series for Disney+, and while some have been hits, there's a sense that it's all a bit too much. Bob Iger, the CEO of Marvel's parent company Disney, admitted that they had "diluted" the audience's attention with so much content, hinting that they'd be more selective in the future.
The future is here. Deadline reports that Marvel has paused development on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy and Terror, Inc. It doesn't mean that these shows will never see the light of day, but as Deadline puts it, the company has "shifted its priorities at the moment."
It sounds like that shift is pretty significant. Back when Marvel Studios started making TV series for Disney+, it handled them more or less like it did movies: it announced a slate, and that's what we eventually got. But now, Deadline...

While speaking to EW about Disney+'s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum hinted that it may only be a matter if time before we see Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist/Danny Rand in the MCU.
“I can't say much, but I'll tell you that it's so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously, we don't have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It's dealing with actors and time...

Given his prior history of working in crime and noir comics, author Brian Michael Bendis, who marked his Marvel debut with Ultimate Spider-Man, spearheaded the Max imprint, which focused on more adult-themed stories. As a result, the writer partnered with artist Michael Gaydos to pen the critically revered Alias, starring Jessica Jones.

Interestingly, the comic originally featured one of Bendis’ favorite Marvel heroes, Jessica Drew, the alter-ego of Marvel’s Spider-Woman. However, despite his passion for the character, her involvement was eventually scrapped in favor of the writer’s original creation.
Lack of continuity contributed to Jessica Jones’ Marvel debut
While Michael Bendis’ work on Ultimate Spider-Man amassed critical success, it was Alias that allowed him to exercise his chops when it came to writing more gritty stories. His expertise in noir and crime chimed well with Marvel’s Max imprint, and his work on Alias...

On one level, the return of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with Sarah Michelle Gellar — the news of which Variety broke today — is the most 2020s thing that could happen. Updating a beloved TV series from the last four decades with at least some of the original cast has become a central pillar of our current popular culture. From “And Just Like That” on Max to “That ’90s Show” on Netflix to “Star Trek: Picard,” “Frasier” and whatever new version of “Dexter” is streaming on Paramount+, we’re habitually invited now to live in updated versions of our TV pasts.
A new “Buffy,” however, feels more totemic. There are all the TV history reasons, of course: Dismissed when it premiered on the nascent network The WB in 1997 as a mid-season replacement, “Buffy” rapidly roundhouse kicked itself into the vanguard of both television form and content. By transforming the horror movie final...

Krysten Ritter is considered by most of her fans an incredibly underrated talent. She has been active in the industry since 2001 and has an extensive résumé in both film and television, with her work on TV standing out over the years. The actress is best known for playing Jane in Breaking Bad and the titular superhero in Marvel's Jessica Jones, a role she reprized in The Defenders. But there is a certain niche in television in which Ritter plays a supporting role in three of its biggest titles, making her appearance a common thread when these shows decided to make a direction change.
Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls are two amazing feel-good dramas targeting mostly a teen and young adult female audience. Coincidentally, Krysten Ritter plays the main character's new friend who steals the spotlight in both. In addition to these two, she plays a similar kind of supporting role in another teen classic,...

Every Marvel fan who worried that a Disney+ "Daredevil" series would never be able to compete with the reams of violence, gore, and sex depicted liberally throughout the Netflix show, fear no more. The trailer recently dropped for Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) crime-fighting vigilante would've seemed to put any such concerns to rest, but we now have it on good authority that not even the family-friendly confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will tone down the grittiness of our favorite street-level superhero. Thanks to some eagle-eyed observers from the UK who spotted the official rating on Disney+ (via ComicBookMovie), it appears that "Daredevil: Born Again" will actually represent the highest age rating of any Marvel Studios project to date.
"Daredevil: Born Again" has reportedly earned a rating of 18+ in the UK, which means it's intended only for adults and roughly translates to a typical TV-ma/R rating for those of us who reside Stateside.
