Violet Grohl has been hard at work on an album, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, and those who’ve heard her music say it’s fantastic.
The 18-year-old daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who has toured as a backup singer for her dad’s band and performed as a solo singer, is described as being “incredibly committed” to the music-making process and “to growing as an artist,” says a source. She’s been working out songs in a studio space gifted by her father for her birthday. Among her collaborators is producer Justin Raisen, who worked with Kim Gordon on her Grammy-nominated album The Collective in addition to previous collaborations with the likes of Charli Xcx and Lil Yachty.
“She’s a true torch singer,” says one source. “Her vocals are tremendous. She’s very talented.”

Martin Campbell, director of such great films as The Protegé, Casino Royale, and Golden Eye, is no stranger to crafting gripping action thrillers. Even if they must include violence. That's the case with Campbell's latest thrill ride, Dirty Angels, a non-stop action film about an all-women commando unit set on liberating a group of schoolgirls taken hostage in Afghanistan. Bottom line: Martin Campbell does not disappoint as a director. In a recent MovieWeb interview, Campbell defended the use of graphic violence here, noting:
"These are six women. They're military trained, right? I wanted all the violence to be realistic… to the point that those girls could actually do it. This is not heightened violence. This is violence on a military level. And I didn't want any superhero stuff. And it is fun, obviously, but they [the commando team] are well-trained, they are very good at their job. When push comes to shove,...

Kim Gordon has released a new song, “Banging on the Freeway,” alongside a music video for the track. The clip was directed by her daughter and frequent collaborator Coco Gordon Moore.
The track is a clattering, mesmerizing blast of propulsive noise rock crossed with some far-flung hip-hop influences as Gordon sinks into repetitive hooks and phrases, including the titular “Bangin’ on the freeway” and lines like “Bad TV on repetition.” The video, meanwhile, largely comprises shots of Gordon and her daughter doing the most Los Angeles thing anyone can do...

But that doesn’t stop Siobhan, the owner of Good Life Cleaners and her crew, Alex, his girlfriend Megan and Chuck from doing just that when they find a few million in cash stashed in the chimney of the house they’re cleaning up.

Kim Gordon is weighing in the great pop icons of 2024 debate, saying that she’s “not really a fan of Taylor Swift” and would rather “choose Billie Eilish.”
The comment came in a new interview with The Guardian as part of its “10 Chaotic Questions” series. The 10th and final query was regarding her most controversial pop culture opinion, and Gordon answered: “I don’t know if it’s controversial but I’m not really a fan of Taylor Swift.”

Continuing, Gordon conceded that she “couldn’t tell you what her music sounded like, actually.” Nonetheless, “when it comes to pop icons,” she said, “I would choose Billie Eilish.”
While some major artists who came before Swift have expressed their admiration for her — like Cyndi Lauper and Billy Corgan — Gordon is probably right that her opinion isn’t overly controversial. Dave Grohl, who recently had a...

Alan Sparhawk, the singer and songwriter formerly of Low, has announced that his debut solo album, White Roses, My God, will be out everywhere on September 27th via Sub Pop. He’s also shared the first single, “Can U Hear,” and announced a handful of US tour dates set for 2025.
The Minnesota native recorded White Roses, My God in Duluth, where Low began, and produced it alongside Nat Harvie. It serves as Sparhawk’s first official solo album, though he did release a collection of ambient vignettes and soundscapes called Solo Guitar in 2006.
As Low, Sparhawk had recorded dozens of albums alongside his wife and musical partner Mimi Parker, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2022. Now, with White Roses, My God, Sparhawk has drawn from his experiences with grief as well as his numerous side projects over the years in Low. When asked on Twitter what White Roses, My God means,...

Pro wrestler Mercedes Mon made her Star Wars debut with her role as Koska Reeves in the second and third seasons of The Mandalorian. At the time of filming, Mon was performing for WWE under the ring name Sasha Banks, and she now says she had to fight some pushback from the company over her Mandalorian role.
Mon, who now can be seen on Aew programming, commented on her part in The Mandalorian during a new interview with Wfan (per Fightful). Referring to WWE as "the other company," Mon said that trying to get the time off from them to film her role was comparable to "pulling teeth." She said that it's the opposite of the deal she has in place with Aew, where she has the ability to take time off anytime she lands another acting gig. Aew boss Tony Khan has even offered the use of the company's private jet.

Kim Gordon has unleashed “Ecrp,” a new standalone single arriving three months after her sophomore solo album, The Collective.
Similar in style to the songs on The Collective, the Justin Raisen-produced “Ecrp” features industrial, hip-hop-influenced sonics and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Throughout the track, Gordon uses body part imagery (“Vein to the chest/ Tubes like garden hose/ Pumping in the fresh”) and sings of “rumors of free speech.”

For Kevin Kane, the endgame never wavered once he set a goal to move to New York in the early aughts to pursue a career in acting. He’ll tell you that luck seemed to always be on his side, as the actor from Philadelphia found work soon after his arrival to the Big Apple.
Kane was soon thrusted into the world of Dick Wolf Entertainment with small roles on Law & Order and Chicago P.D. This would eventually lead to his current recurring role as Detective Terry Bruno on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which aired its season 25 finale on May 16.
But early on, while studying acting at the William Esper Studio, Kane would formulate a lifelong bond and friendship with a fellow classmate named Amy Schumer. Together, they would not only hone their skills in drama and comedy, but also sharpen their writing, producing and whatever it would...

The Collective arrived last month as Gordon’s second solo effort, following 2019’s No Home Record. As previewed by singles “Bye Bye” and “I’m a Man,” the record incorporated trap and hip-hop elements into Gordon’s already experimental style. Listen closely: On “Principles,” the jarring penultimate track of Kim Gordon’s new solo album, The Collective, are the words she’s wailing “an actress of life”? Or is that last word “light” or “lies” or “live” or something else? The line transmits differently if you listen to it on a big stereo, expensive headphones, a beach speaker, shitty AirPods, and shittier iPhone speakers, since she’s buried it so deeply in atmospheric reverb and industrial clanging. Kim Gordon has shared “I’m a Man,” the latest single from her forthcoming album, The Collective.
With dissonant guitars, waves of crushing sound, and a skittering hip-hop beat courtesy of producer Justin Raisen, Kim Gordon takes aim at masculine identity on “I’m a Man.” She repeats the song’s titular claim throughout, describing a man’s psychological perspective and defense mechanisms. “It’s not my fault/ I’m not bringing home the juice/ I’m not bringing home the bacon,” she mutters, later asking “So what if I like a big truck/ Giddy up, giddy up/ Don’t call me toxic/ Just because I like a little butt.”

One of the most complicated realities of law enforcement life is the irony of restriction. They must adhere to a strict set of laws to take down those who are breaking them. Enter a refreshingly rogue secret agency of assassins with a glare in their eyes that screams of a determination to rip such red tape to shreds. In The Collective, viewers are whisked away on an action journey led by a fresh new team whose passion is to find and annihilate the powerful and ridiculously rich “untouchables.”
These elites have previously thrived as freely as they wish in a revolting human trafficking ring under the delusion of invincible safety. Now, thanks to a franchise-worthy new law enforcement team, the villains' time is up. In the classic and effective tradition of Tango & Cash and Bad Boys, The Collective introduces Sam (Lucas Till of MacGyver), a rookie with a righteous heart.

If I had a dollar for every time I predicted the twists and turns in the new movie The Collective, I wouldn’t be even close to being a millionaire, for there are not that many twists here in the first place. Directed by Tom DeNucci, The Collective is like a stepping stone for the performers to showcase their skills, and the film unfolds like it’s well aware of that fact. The film has a decent star cast with actors like Don Johnson, Paul Ben-Victor, and Tyrese Gibson added to the mix who do a good job, but it is Lucas Till who gets to play the title role. I should add that he falters badly as he is unable to add to the stakes of this action thriller. See, that’s what Tom Cruise does well in the “Mission Impossible” franchise. He sells you the movie by acting like it really matters.

The SAG-AFTRA strike has studios questioning release schedules, film festivals wondering who will show up, and indie filmmakers interrogating their own projects to understand what’s possible and what’s out of reach. For some, it means opportunity while others need to make tough choices.

With the former Imf Director finally back in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, Henry Czerny is breaking his silence on Kittridge's return after six sequels. Czerny first starred in the original Mission: Impossible movie as Imf Director Eugene Kittridge, who instigated Ethan Hunt going after the Noc List in the hopes of weeding out a mole within the agency, whom he initially believes to be Tom Cruise's protagonist. After clearing Hunt and his family's name by the end of the movie, and that of Ving Rhames' Luther, Kittridge has remained absent without any proper explanation.
While speaking with Uproxx to promote the newly released movie, Henry Czerny opened up about his long-awaited return for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning. The Kittridge actor revealed the reason he believed behind his six-sequel absence came from an unfortunate meeting with Cruise's former producing partner, Paula Wagner, in which he candidly shared...

"Found 'em! I'll send some guys..." Quiver Distribution has unveiled an official trailer for The Collective, a new action thriller from filmmaker Tom DeNucci. This is yet another of these junk action films, with a similar plot to so many others - involving hitmen and traffickers and taking out the "bad guys". A young recruit to a mysterious agency finds himself going rogue on his first assignment, tracking down a dangerous group of "untouchable" human traffickers. The Collective charts the story of a group of righteous assassins who take aim at a human trafficking ring that's backed by a network of billionaires. Lucas Till stars as Sam Alexander, a "rookie assassin", joined by Ruby Rose, Mercedes Varnado, Paul Ben-Victor, Tyrese Gibson, John Fiore, Levon Panek, plus Don Johnson as their leader. This looks as uninteresting and derivative as anything can, even the action. Will anyone even watch? // Continue Reading ›...
