Rogue Strike

Unlike the previous poster, I decided to sit through the painstaking hour and a half runtime of this flick, only to be overcome by pure emotion.

Apathy, Grief, Utter regret for not believing aforementioned previous poster, and a slight bit of disgust in that I found my self garnishing a laugh, albeit at the god-awfulness of everything this movie encompasses.

At the 6:09 mark, be prepared for the longest 11 minutes and 22 seconds of your life. Ignoring the fact that the entire movie has the same "visual appeal" (EVERY Set/Prop/CGI-comparable to late 90's gaming graphics) at every turn, until its conclusion, alone proves that this movie was conceived by the wrong type of stoner. The music alone? It's as if production said "Hey, we heard you like soundtracks! Here are some musical recordings of a homeless, nine year old frooty loops prodigy, that we bribed with McDonald's." Honestly, I believe every movie should have a chance, but then again... I ultimately made my decision to sit through this film based solely on my impulsive movie knowledge, going, "Oh Hell! It's the guy Batman drops off of a balcony!" aka Eric Roberts. This quickly became my (and probably every future watcher of this movie's...) downfall. All I can say is...SKIP!

Clearly a vanity project independent film, total Marty Stu main character...the actor is also the producer and many of the voice-overs.

There are maybe 2 reasons to watch this film. 1) you're an anime nerd who loves English dubs and wanna see Brittney Karbowski & Shelley Calene-Black in a live action film and 2) you've had enough Navy JROTC/NROTC classes and a basic understanding of Oceanography to appreciate how completely ridiculous this movie is...I give it 4 stars because while it is a TERRIBLE movie, I was HOWLING with laughter at several points, but only because I was giving it the full MST3K treatment it richly deserves, and because reasons 1 & 2 apply to me personally.

They could only afford actual Russian dialogue for the opening scene...the rest of the scenes with Russian characters have them speaking English with Russian accents of varying quality. Oh and the WRITING! The writing is so god-awful I could not stop laughing. Like one of the hostage scenes....is written so poorly I can't believe the actors didn't stop the director and say "wait a minute, these lines are fugging stupid....can we get a re-write here?"

Definitely one of those rare instances of so-bad-it's good. And also because if you do actually understand at least a little bit about Naval Operations and International Relations the ludicrous ineptitude of the writing is really really funny. It's one step above "and the man pressed the button that makes the submarine dive and the submarine dove" levels of dumb. This screenplay wouldn't even merit an honorable mention in a short story competition....it would come back with "D-" on it and a note from the teacher "see me after class"....

Still, I can't say I wasn't entertained & I laughed way harder than I expected to. Four stars, but can only recommend to other people who meet the narrow niche interests above.

Budget: $7,000,000 (estimated)? Where did this Money go? Was it Say $1,000 on the Movie, Say $100,000 on the Cast that know one as heard of before or yes and $6,899,000 on the Actor that has past his sell by date who is too over paid "Eric Roberts"..........Don't waste your time. I didn't even watch it all it was that bad. (Pile of CR*P). Only give it 1 out of 10 because there was no 0. Would rather watch paint dry. And have decided to stop watching any movie from now on with the Actor "Eric Roberts" in, as the last time he was in anything watchable was "The Expendables" and that was only because of the supporting cast "Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren".

The Plot.

When the Russian submarine K-519 sinks in the Pacific, a quirky crew of marine biologists battle a terrorist plot to recover the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.

Diving to the deepest part of the ocean in an untested mini- submersible, a seasick documentary filmmaker and a maniacal sub captain clash as they are forced to choose between saving the ones they love or saving mankind!

Poor Eric Roberts. He must be taking any movie just for the money. Well he found the new Ed Wood in this one.

This has to be the most cheaply made film I have ever seen. I think the entire movie was done in from of a green screen

Roberts is barely in it so he must have picked up a hundred grand. Where did the rest of the money go? Weed?

And how is it that this film is getting a 6.7 when there is only one review (besides mine) and we're both giving it one star?

It's truly an abomination
