"With Nahnatchka's vision and the exciting cast led by Kiernan Shipka and Olivia Holt, we are confident Totally Killer will resonate with our audience around the world. "The film follows Jamie (Shipka), whose mom, Pam (Bowen), is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer—a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the '80s.

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is one of many anthology pics Disney released in the ‘40s, and is best remembered as a Boomer equivalent of Watership Down, The Dark Crystal or The NeverEnding Story in the “movies that traumatized children” category. Its first segment is based on classic kids book The Wind in the Willows, but the second, more relevant half adapts Washington Irving’s famous short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, with its rich but dark animation and foreboding tone and music terrifying many of its young viewers.

The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare is one of Maddy’s favorites. It’s about a a teenage girl, Clary Fray, who has angelic blood allowing her to protect the world from demons as a Shadowhunter. Even though the 2013 movie City of Bones (based on the first book in the series) didn’t really work out that well, we were still pumped for the Freeform (the new name for ABC Family) series based on the books. It stars Katherine McNamara (Girl Vs. Monster) as Clary, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Dominic Sherwood (Taylor Swift’s “Style” video) as Jace, and Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) as Magnus Bane. But the question is…did first 2 episodes of this fantasy meet our expectations? Watch to find out.

What is a part of most people's Independence Day weekend? Fireworks, family gatherings and...movies! The movie for kids is Earth to Echo, about an a group of best buds who befriend a lost alien. Kpf Movie Star Movie Critic Katherine McNamara (Contest, Girl vs. Monster) rates the PG film a Pick:

It's a catch up week at the movies for kids and teens, and Kpf Movie Star Movie Critic Katherine McNamara (Contest, Girl vs. Monster) recommends the historical PG-13 film Belle:
"You can't choose your family. Dido certainly learned that the hard way in Belle, the story of a mixed race girl growing up in an all white family in England in the 1700s. This film explores the complicated social structure at the time and the vast discrimination and judgment that could be passed on a person based on their social status, their birth order, or even the color of their skin. This story is wonderfully chock full of romance, family conflict, and the pomp and circumstance present in that era. "Insidious: Chapter 2 joins the ranks of the first of this series as a new Halloween classic. This spooktacular film picks up where its predecessor left off with the family having just saved their son from the spirit that was haunting him only to find that the father of the family is exhibiting some rather strange behavior himself. Chaos ensues as they move into his mother's supposedly haunted house.

With a couple of months still separating us from the premiere of Pretty Little Liars’ dark spinoff, Ravenswood, all we have to occupy our time is to gush over the recent casting of Luke Benward. Katherine McNamara ("Girl Vs. Monster") and Joel Courtney, the star of Super 8, are KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics -- and they rate Parental Guidance a Pick!
"When parents leave their children alone for the first time, they are full of worries about what the kids will do. In Parental Guidance, they were more worried about what trouble the grandparents would cause! Billy Crystal and Bette Midler make a charming and hilarious couple as "the other grandparents" desperately trying to win the trust and affections of their grandchildren played (quite well might I add) by Bailee Madison, Joshua Rush, and Kyle Harrison Breitkopf. Director Andy Fickman has filled this film with great holiday fun for the whole family - even a cameo by Tony Hawk! With laughs for all ages throughout and a message of the true meaning of family, we all could use a little Parental Guidance this season.

You know Buffy was a vampire slayer, but do you know who will play Disney’s monster hunter? We do!
The upcoming project from the Mouse is a Disney Channel Original Movie called Girl Vs. Monster and Deadline just recently revealed the network’s casting decisions.
Watch your back Teen Wolf, this picture will follow a young lady who discovers “the eve of Halloween” that she belongs to a family of slayers, if you will (my word, not theirs). But with any true calling comes obstacles, and hers are out to kill her before she can realize her place.
Olivia Holt is the TV movie’s star. You may recognize her from Disney Xd’s Kickin’ It where she displayed grand prowess in the arenas of gymnastics and martial arts.
Ready to meet the rest of the cast? They are Jennifer Aspen as her mother and Brian Palermo of The Social Network as her father.
