Imelda Staunton at an event for Harry Potter et l'Ordre du Phénix (2007)
BritBox’s upcoming “Tommy & Tuppence” series based on the works of Agatha Christie has found its series leads.

Variety has learned exclusively that Antonia Thomas, Josh Dylan, and Imelda Staunton have all been cast in the six-part series, which was originally announced back in June. The official logline states, “Tommy (Dylan) and Tuppence (Thomas) are a detective duo for the ages. They fall in love, fall out of it, and tumble back in, all while solving some thrilling, entertaining mysteries along the way.”

Tuppence is further described as “an actress and force of nature who won’t take no for an answer.” Tommy is said to be “a meticulous, charming crime writer who has lost his passion but finds it again when whirlwind Tuppence re-enters his life.” Staunton will star as Aunt Ada, “a wry, retired private detective who loves her nephew, Tommy, because he never undermines her – only a fool would do so.

A Forgotten Jason Statham Action Movie Was Originally A Rambo Sequel
Image
Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone have been friends and collaborators for years, most famously working together on the "Expendables" movies, in which they play co-protagonists and leaders of the titular mercenary team. While Statham is a seasoned veteran of the action genre these days at 58 years old, he's still a full two decades younger than Stallone, and the pair have always had a sort of big-brother-little-brother dynamic when they share the screen.

Perhaps it's not surprising, then, that Statham came sort of close to stepping into one of Stallone's two most iconic roles. The British actor's 2013 action flick "Homefront" was written by Stallone and came out just a few years after the first "Expendables." The movie was at one point conceived to be a "Rambo" film, with Stallone once again playing the role of the grizzled military commando.

That film would have been a good deal different than the one we got,...

‘Tulsa King’ Stars Reveal Brad Pitt and Jason Statham’s Surprising Connection to Their Casting [Exclusive]
Image
At FanX's Atlanta Comic Convention, Collider’s Maggie Lovitt hosted a panel that took an unexpected turn into Hollywood lore as Tulsa Kingstars Frank Grillo and Garrett Hedlund opened up about the unlikely connections that led them to join Taylor Sheridan’s mob drama — with a little help from Jason Statham, Brad Pitt, and, of course, Sylvester Stallone himself. Grillo, known for his tough-guy roles in films like The Purge: Anarchy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, revealed that his friendship with Stallone dates back to Homefront, the 2013 action movie Stallone wrote for Jason Statham — and which featured Grillo as one of the heavies.

“Well, for me, I had become friends with Sly. He called my partner Joe Carnahan. He called and invited us round to watch a movie he had done. I had done a movie he'd written for Jason Statham called Homefront. So one day, Rocky just called...

Jason Statham's Divisive 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Leaves Streaming Soon
Image
If you’ve been putting off watching Homefront, consider this your official warning: The Jason Statham revenge flick is leaving Prime Video on July 31. Yes, the same film that’s somehow managed to outstream Titanicin 2024 is about to be pulled from your queue — and you really shouldn’t miss your chance to see Statham at his most Southern-fried and skull-shatteringly effective. Released in 2013, Homefront is a blue-collar, bullet-laced action thriller directed by Gary Fleder and written by none other than Sylvester Stallone himself. The premise is peak "Dad Movie": Statham plays Phil Broker, an ex-DEA agent trying to raise his daughter in a sleepy Louisiana town. Unfortunately, this particular town comes with meth labs, backwoods crime, and one James Franco chewing up the bayou as local drug kingpin Gator Bodine. Things escalate. Bones break.

It’s the kind of role Statham was born to play — tight-lipped, tank-topped, and terrifyingly competent in a fight.

Only One Pre-2000 Movie Made the All-Time Box Office Top 40 and Now It’s Crushing It on Streaming
Image
Few movies are more iconic than the 1997 classic Titanic. Directed by James Cameron, the epic tale of love and loss at sea, based on a true story, is still, nearly 30 years on, one of the highest-grossing movies ever. In total, the movie earned an enormous $2.2 billion at the box office, split between a domestic haul of $674 million and a huge $1.54 billion from overseas markets.

Made for a reported $200 million, which was an enormous production budget at the time, Titanic sailed to a legacy many would never match, certainly no other movie from the last century, with Titanic the only film in the top 40 highest-grossing titles of all time to not have debuted in the last 25 years. With such an impressive box office pedigree, and with the film still a huge cultural touchstone and a point of reference in many people's regular discourse, it will come as little surprise to learn...

Jason Statham & Frank Grillo's Underrated 12-Year-Old Thriller Is Dethroned on Streaming by a Sleeper Western Hit

A Tubi original Western movie has surpassed a Jason Statham action flick penned by Sylvester Stallone on the Prime Video streaming charts. The Thicket starring Peter Dinklage has muscled its way into the Top 10 -- and pushed Statham down the list.

12 Years Later, Jason Statham's Divisive 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Remains a Global Streaming Hit
Image
You know what never goes out of style? A bald guy with a British accent punching people in the face. Case in point: Homefront, the 2013 action-thriller starring Jason Statham, which just muscled its way back into the global conversation. According to Flix Patrol, Homefront is now the eighth most-streamed movie on Prime Video as of June 27 — beating out not only The Beekeeper (another Statham special) but even James Cameron’s Titanic. Let that sink in. Titanic sank twice.

The film's comeback is no fluke. Originally released in 2013 and directed by Gary Fleder from a script by none other than Sylvester Stallone, Homefront follows ex-DEA agent Phil Broker (Statham), a man just trying to live a quiet life in small-town Louisiana with his daughter. Unfortunately, he picks the wrong town, and soon finds himself tangling with local meth kingpin Gator Bodine (played with backwoods flair by James Franco). Toss in Winona Ryder,...

Jason Statham’s New 47% Rotten Tomatoes Action Movie Quietly Takes Top Spot on American Streaming Charts
Image
Jason Statham has action movies trending on various streaming services, but the most recent vehicle from the iconic star is performing even better than expected. Statham stars alongside Michael Peña and David Harbour in A Working Man, the conspiracy thriller following Levon Cade (Statham), a man who left his old profession behind only to be called back to it after a local girl vanishes. A Working Man began streaming on Amazon MGM+ last week, and the film has wasted no time climbing to the top of the streamer’s charts, sitting at #1 at the time of writing. A Working Man grossed $88 million at the box office, just over its $40 million reported budget, and it earned a “rotten” 47% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes but a “verified hot” 87% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

'Game of Thrones' Star's 80% Rotten Tomatoes Western Is a Surprise Sleeper Hit on Streaming
Image
At the height of his Game of Thrones career, when Tyrion Lannister was a name on everyone's lips, the ever-brilliant Peter Dinklage signed on to a brooding Western project that promised an ensemble including the likes of Sophia Lillis, Noomi Rapace, and Charlie Plummer. Alas, after entering development hell and that trio all leaving the project, The Thicket was put on the back burner, only to finally return last year with little to no fanfare.

Nevertheless, the film was a hit with critics and audiences alike, earning a pair of 80% ratings from both on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Now starring the likes of Juliette Lewis of Yellowjackets fame, Levon Hawke, Esmé Creed-Miles, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Leslie Grace, and more, The Thicket went under many people's radar when it released on September 6. Jason Statham & Frank Grillo's Forgotten Action Thriller Climbs the Streaming Charts 12 Years Later

One of Jason Statham and Frank Grillo's most underrated movies is now a streaming hit.

Per Flix Patrol, 2013's Homefront has officially reached the number eight spot on the list of the top 10 films streaming on Prime Video for June 27. This marks a two-place climb from where it previously sat, with Homefront now leading ahead of both The Beekeeper and Titanic. Adam Sandler’s Despised Family Comedy Movie He Strangely Likened to ‘Ghostbusters’ Is a Surprise Streaming Hit 10 Years Later
Image
Adam Sandler's filmography is full of huge highs and terrible lows. From the incredible Uncut Gems and the mesmeric Punch-Drunk Love, to the dreadful 2024 effort Spaceman, the Saturday Night Live alum will always prove controversial to movie fans. However, no film has perhaps earned the ire of theatergoers in Sandler's career more than 2015's Pixels, the tale of an alien invasion of Earth inspired by video games that was marketed as a "comedy."

Despite featuring a stacked cast including the likes of Peter Dinklage, long-time Sandler collaborator Kevin James, Josh Gad, and Michelle Monaghan, as well as an unlikely cameo from tennis icon Serena Williams, Pixels simply couldn't produce much positivity from critics or fans. This led to one of the worst score pairings in Sandler's career on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, including a dismal 18% critics' score, and a 46% audience rating that tries to salvage some respect. Nevertheless, despite all that,...

Jason Statham Knocks Down Tom Cruise With 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller Climbing Streaming Charts
Image
After kickstarting 2025 withA Working Man, Jason Statham is riding a wave of momentum — but not just from his newest blockbuster. Homefront, the 2013 action-thriller penned by Sylvester Stallone, is suddenly one of the most-watched movies on Prime Video. As of mid-June, it’s sitting at #9 on the U.S. Top 10, one spot ahead of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which holds at #10. Not bad for a film with a 42% Rotten Tomatoes critic score.

So what’s fueling the resurgence of Homefront? Call it the Statham effect. When he’s not blowing up international box office charts with recent hits like A Working Man — which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide — fans are diving back into his catalogue for more of that no-nonsense, knuckle-breaking catharsis. And Homefront delivers exactly that.

Jason Statham's Latest Action Movie Stops Denzel Washington's Thriller Threequel From Further Streaming Success
Image
A battle between two action legends is currently brewing on Prime Video. In one corner, Denzel Washington and his action thriller threequel, The Equalizer 3. In the other, Jason Statham and his latest action hit, A Working Man.

Per FlixPatrol, A Working Man has stopped The Equalizer 3 from climbing any further on Prime Video's Top 10 Movies list, keeping it at No. 5 to A Working Man's No. 4.Yesterday, The Equalizer 3 was at No. 4, meaning that the action threequel has made a U-turn and is now on its way out of Prime's Top 10 list. Although it's not quite a win for Statham either, as A Working Man is also moving downward on the list, with Ben Affleck's The Accountant duology holding strong as the No. 1 and No. 2 movies worldwide on Prime Video.

‘Ballerina’ Shoots Past Jason Statham’s Forgotten 42% Rotten Tomatoes Thriller at Global Box Office
Image
After a tremendously difficult production that reportedly saw a significant chunk of it being retooled, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina debuted theatrically last week, only to go from the frying pan into the fire. The movie opened in the wake of two major releases, Disney's Lilo & Stitch remake and Paramount's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, which certainly took the wind out of its sails. Ballerina underperformed in its first weekend of release, both domestically and worldwide. However, the action movie has already outperformed several comparable titles, such as three major Jason Statham films — Crank, The Transporter, and Expend4bles. More recently, the movie surpassed the lifetime global box office haul of Statham's largely forgotten 2013 release, Homefront.

Directed by Gary Fleder, the movie also featured James Franco, Winona Ryder, and Kate Bosworth. Homefront ended its run with $51 million at the worldwide box office, and earned a so-so 42% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Prime Video subscribers cannot get enough of Jason Statham. Two of his action movies have made the streamer's Top 10 list, and one of them was released over a decade ago.

Jason Statham's 42% Conspiracy Thriller With a 'Stranger Things' Star Dominates Prime Video's Top 10
Image
After kickstarting 2025 with A Working Man, Jason Statham is seeing a major resurgence—this time from a decade-old action thriller that’s suddenly found new life on streaming. Homefront, the 2013 conspiracy flick co-starring Stranger Things alum Winona Ryder, has cracked Prime Video’s Top 10 in the U.S., currently holding the #6 spot as of late May. So why the comeback? Part of it’s the Statham effect. Tom Cruise’s Iconic Action Flick Roger Ebert Dubbed “Impossible to Follow” Is a Timely Addition to Prime’s Top 10
Image
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is already proving to be one of the hits of the summer, with the 2025 box office finally firing into gear thanks to Tom Cruise's final stint as Ethan Hunt, as well as Warner Bros.’ Final Destination Bloodlines, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch remake and, before that, Ryan Coogler’s surprise success, Sinners. As the last movie in one of the action genre's best franchises, the world is feeling nostalgic for what has come before it, especially with Christopher McQuarrie and co. using many moments in The Final Reckoning to reflect on the franchise's roots.

Because of this nostalgia building within this multi-generational fanbase, eyes are quickly turning to previous installments in the franchise, from 2023’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning to Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Jason Statham’s 2013 Action Thriller Made for Half the Budget of ‘A Working Man’ Is a Streaming Hit
Image
Jason Statham’s long list of excellent action projects continues to prove enduring, as the British hard man's legacy as the face of the genre in the 21st century gets even stronger. Earlier this year, Statham teamed up with director David Ayer on A Working Man, which earned just shy of $100 million at the global box office and more than doubled its reported budget of $40 million. However, over ten years earlier, and for half the budget of his latest entry, Statham was cracking skulls alongside Stranger Things' Winona Ryder in Homefront, a conspiracy thriller written by fellow action veteran Sylvester Stallone and based on a novel by Chuck Logan.

Tubi is once again proving why it's one of the best streaming services available. The free streamer will add a beloved Sylvester Stallone action movie to its catalog next month.

Jason Statham’s Long-Forgotten 14% Rotten Tomatoes Action Thriller Resurfaces 18 Years Later on a Free Streamer

Although Jason Statham’s new movie didn’t perform as well as The Beekeeper at the box office, one of his older flicks has made a stunning re-appearance on streaming charts. Image
Action movie icon and Terminator star Linda Hamilton returns to the genre she’s renowned for with the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Osiris, which just got a hugely exciting release update. Instead of battling killer robots, Osiris will find Hamilton facing off with aliens after her and her crew of commandos are abducted.

Osiris, which is directed by William Kaufman from a script he co-wrote with Paul Reichelt stars Linda Hamilton alongside Max Martini, Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), Lamonica Garrett (1883), and Linds Edwards (Homefront). The sci-fi action outing has now been picked up by Vertical for North American distribution (via Variety), meaning not only that US audiences will get to see Hamilton’s return to action, which is slated for release this summer, but also that we should be getting more updates, such as a trailer, pretty soon.

According to a press release, Osiris follows “a team of Special Forces commandos in...

Jason Statham And Sylvester Stallone's Gritty 2013 Crime Thriller Is Prime Video's Latest Obsession
Image
When Sylvester Stallone wrote "Rocky" as a way to launch his career, he infused his script with plenty of heart and character development, revealing himself to be a talented writer with a sensitivity for which fans of his action filmography don't always give him credit. That said, there's no doubt that the man has a talent for bombastic action. 1982's "First Blood," in which his John J. Rambo debuted, was all the better for having Stallone in the lead role, with the star making changes to the script by removing much of the macho posturing in favor of a more restrained approach. Stallone added what became the defining feature of "First Blood" to the script, and ever since, has been crafting engaging action tales.

As the years went by, however, Stallone frequently embraced a formulaic approach. The retired badass with the "I don't do that any more" attitude exists, in part,...

NCIS Character No One Remembers Is Played by Young Sheldon’s Mary Cooper Star Zoe Perry
Image
The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon, has brought several talented actors into the spotlight, from lead star Iain Armitage to Zoe Perry, who portrayed Mary Cooper, Sheldon’s mother, throughout the CBS series. Perry has since reprised the role in the new spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

However, while she has become well-known for her role as Mary Cooper, her journey in acting began long before Young Sheldon. One key milestone in her early career was a brief role in the long-running CBS procedural NCIS.

Zoe Perry played a dirty cop in NCIS Season 13

Season 13 of NCIS features Zoe Perry in a brief but memorable role as Kristen Fields, a police officer in Harpers Ferry who harbors some hidden secrets that unravel as the episode progresses.

Jason Statham's Thriller Movie Collaboration With Sylvester Stallone Trends On Streaming 12 Years Later
Image
Jason Statham’s thriller movie collaboration with Sylvester Stallone is a streaming hit 12 years later. Stallone and Statham have shared the screen four times, playing mercenary comrades Barney and Christmas in the Expendables series.

The Expendables stars’ numerous collaborations indeed represent a union of two different movie eras. Stallone was the co-ruler of 1980s action, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Statham established his own stoic action-hero persona beginning with his early Guy Ritchie films, and continuing through a string of hard-hitting vehicles, culminating with his arrival as a big-budget franchise stalwart in the Fast & Furious series.

Stallone And Statham’s Homefront Is A Hit On Streaming 12 Years Later Stallone Produced And Statham Starred

After doing two Expendables movies together, Stallone and Statham teamed up again for Homefront, an action-thriller co-written by Stallone and directed by Gary Fleder, that 12 years later is trending on streaming. Stallone also served as a producer on the film,...

Jason Statham’s 42% Rotten Tomatoes Conspiracy Thriller Is Chasing ‘Reacher’ on Streaming Charts
Image
After opening up the year with A Working Man, one of Jason Statham’s older movies has resurfaced on streaming charts more than 10 years later. Statham stars alongside Stranger Things veteran Winona Ryder in Homefront, the 2013 conspiracy thriller following a former DEA agent who moves to a quiet town but soon begins to get tangled up with a drug lord and his local meth operation. Homefront, which also stars Clancy Brown, hit Prime Video not long ago, and the film has surged into the top 10, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. Homefront falls just behind Reacher, the action series led by Alan Ritchson, which sits at #8. Statham’s action film earned a 42% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter lands at a slightly higher 61%.

Sylvester Stallone wrote the script for Homefront, and he also re-teamed with Jason Statham earlier this year to write A Working Man. The...

Jason Statham Believes He Has One Thing In Common With Sylvester Stallone
Image
Actor Jason Statham and Hollywood mainstay Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on six feature films together. They starred opposite each other in four "Expendables" movies (with Statham taking the lead over Stallone for the abysmal "Expend4bles"), and Statham starred in the Stallone-scripted "Homefront" in 2013. Most recently, Stallone wrote the script for the 2025 David Ayer-directed Statham vehicle "A Working Man." The pair, one can infer, know each other's work very well.

Statham, 57, has long been one of cinema's most reliable badasses, often playing cops, mercenaries, assassins, killer, or other ultra-capable dolers of violence. He has done a lot of his own stunts, and he ran down his injuries in a 2023 interview with Collider. He did a real helicopter stunt for the movie "Crank," which he said was quite difficult, and he recalled having to actually jump from a moving jetski onto the back of a speeding bus in "Transporter 2." Surprisingly,...

Jason Statham is Back in Action with ‘A Working Man’
Image
Looking for that classic, hard-hitting Jason Statham action flick? Well, look no further. “A Working Man” delivers exactly what you’d expect: an action-packed thrill ride featuring a good-hearted, tough-as-nails veteran who spends most of his time punching and shooting his way through trouble.

The action genre welcomes another entry with “A Working Man,” a 2025 American action thriller starring the ever-reliable Jason Statham. The film marks a reunion between Statham and director David Ayer, following their successful collaboration on “The Beekeeper.” Adding to the action pedigree, the project features action cinema icon Sylvester Stallone, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ayer. This collaboration hints at a continuation of their prior successful formula, promising audiences a heavy dose of Statham’s signature action prowess. The story centers on a former elite operative attempting to live a quiet life as a working man, but who is inevitably drawn back into the dangerous world he left behind.

Can Jason Statham's 'A Working Man' Reach $100 Million at the Global Box Office?
Image
Having completed two full weeks in theaters worldwide, A Working Man is yet to pass a meaningful box office milestone, either domestically or worldwide. The action movie grossed about as much as The Beekeeper did in its opening weekend. But it has since struggled to keep up. At the same stage in its run, The Beekeeper was pacing well ahead of it. That being said, A Working Manis approaching the coveted $100 million mark at the global box office, but it remains to be seen if it has enough gas left in the tank to get it there.

With $33 million domestically and another $45 million from overseas markets, A Working Manhas grossed a cumulative total of $79 million worldwide. Starring Jason Statham and directed by David Ayer, the movie should be in the clear shortly, once it passes the $80 million mark. It was produced on a reported budget of $40 million, and, going by the rule of thumb,...

Jason Statham’s 42% Rotten Tomatoes Conspiracy Thriller Arrives on Streaming This Week
Image
Jason Statham’s new movie is finally losing steam at the box office after falling out of the top five, but one of his older flicks just got an update to help ease the pain. More than 10 years before Statham teamed up with director David Ayer for A Working Man, he starred in Homefront, the 2013 conspiracy thriller following a former DEA agent who moves his family to a quiet town only to get involved with a local drug lord. The free streaming service Tubi has announced that Homefront will hit the platform on April 18. The film also stars Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Frank Grillo (Creature Commandos), and James Franco (Spider-Man 3). It earned scores of 42% from critics and 61% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

'A Working Man' Still Trails 'The Beekeeper' By $100 Million at the Global Box Office
Image
Despite having opened at pretty much the same level as last year's The Beekeeper, action star Jason Statham's latest film, A Working Man, hasn't had quite as successful a theatrical run. At least, not yet. The movie experienced steeper falls than The Beekeeper, which opened to an unusually enthusiastic audience response. Like A Working Man, that movie was directed by David Ayer; it served as his long-awaited return to form following the critical drubbing of Suicide Squad eight years prior. A Working Man was positioned as their big reunion, but for some reason, audiences appear to have decided to wait for it to hit home video.

With $33 million domestically and another $26 million from overseas markets, A Working Manhas so far grossed a total of $59 million worldwide. It should pass the $60 million mark by Monday. At the same time in its run, The Beekeeper grossed nearly $10 million more. It ended...

Jason Statham Shows Off His Comedy Chops in a Newly-Surfaced BTS Video From His Highest-Rated Movie
Image
Jason Statham will always be known as one of the most iconic action actors of all time, but there have been some movies over the years that allowed him to flex his comedy muscles. One of those films is Spy, the 2015 slapstick comedy in which Statham stars alongside Jude Law and Melissa McCarthy. Spy also happens to be Statham’s highest-rated movie of his career, according to Rotten Tomatoes, with a 95% from critics on the aggregate site. Now that Spy is 10 years old, a blooper reel from behind the scenes of the film has resurfaced and gone viral online, showing Statham and his co-stars unable to keep it together while reading some of the film’s ridiculously hilarious dialogue. The full reel can be found below, with Statham’s first clip starting around the 2:00 mark.

Statham has always had something of a stoic demeanor — it’s part of why...

'A Working Man' Isn’t the First Jason Statham-Sylvester Stallone Collab
Image
It's almost impossible to talk about action movies without mentioning Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone. They're both bankable stars who have left a large legacy in their genre, so it's no surprise the two have worked together multiple times. Their most recent collaboration is on the 2025 Statham film A Working Man, which Stallone wrote and produced. Stallone is no stranger to screenwriting, having written the Oscar-winning film Rocky. He's no stranger to writing for Statham either, as he wrote the screenplay for Statham's 2013 movie Homefront.

Stallone Made Statham a DEA Agent in 'Homefront'

In Homefront, Jason Statham plays Phil Broker, a retired DEA agent and single dad living in Louisiana. Phil's daughter, Maddy, fights one of her classmates, and when Phil is called to Maddy's school to talk about it, the classmate's father tries to fight Phil. Phil beats the father, and in retaliation, the father's wife calls her brother,...

The 13 Jason Statham-est Jason Statham Movies, Ranked
Image
Jason Statham wasn’t always an action movie legend. He started out as a competitive diver, and even modeled for Tommy Hilfiger and Levi’s. But as soon as he made his big screen debut in Guy Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” it was obvious. A star was being born.

Statham’s gravely voice, martial arts talent and toned physique served him well, and he quickly became one of the most recognizable action heroes of the 21st century, starring in billion dollar blockbusters and quirky crime thrillers, with a smattering of tough as nails or just plain weird genre films in the middle. And sometimes he also pokes fun at his grizzled persona, proving that he’s having just as much fun as we are.

Not every Jason Statham movie is great, but a lot of them are better than they get credit for. And even the silly ones are often 100% pure Statham.

‘A Working Man’ Review: Jason Statham Actioner Could Have Worked Smarter, Not Harder
Image
There was good reason to look forward to “A Working Man,” as it reunites Jason Statham with director David Ayer immediately after the pair had made the action star’s best movie in years, 2024’s “The Beekeeper.” Statham is dependably entertaining and Ayer has made some genuinely good films, including the nightmarishly tense “End of Watch.” Perhaps one day the director’s cut of “Suicide Squad” will rescue that film’s reputation.

But while “Beekeeper” was unhinged fun, eliciting cheers at Statham’s character’s creative ways of dispatching baddies, “Working Man” has different aims. And is, alas, significantly less fun.

It’s based on the Levon Cade novel series by veteran Batman and Punisher comics writer Chuck Dixon (the book in question is actually titled “Levon’s Trade: A Vigilante Justice Thriller”). The adaptation, by Statham’s “Expendables” costar and scripter Sylvester Stallone (who also wrote Statham’s “Homefront”) and Ayer,...

Everything We Know About A Working Man (Jason Statham film reaches theatres this week)
Image
Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone have collaborated on multiple projects over the years, and we’re not just talking about the four Expendables movies they made together. Stallone also wrote the screenplay for the 2013 Statham action film Homefront, which was directed by Gary Fleder and based on a novel by Chuck Logan. Now, Statham and Stallone are continuing their working relationship with the action thriller A Working Man, which also reunites Statham with his The Beekeeper director David Ayer – and looks to be very much along the same lines as that film. A Working Man is set to reach theatres on March 28th, and in anticipation of its release, we decided to put together a list of everything we know about the movie. Here we go:

Jason Statham Can Find a Weapon Anywhere in New ‘A Working Man’ Sneak Peeks
Image
Amazon MGM has released the final two clips of Jason Statham in A Working Man ahead of the film’s premiere in theaters everywhere tomorrow. Each clip shows Statham getting into a vicious fight, but one takes place on a construction site and the other inside an old, run-down building. While only the construction site sneak peek shows the fight in its entirety, Statham has the upper hand in both and has little-to-no trouble dispatching his foes. In addition to Statham, both David Harbour and Michael Peña have also been tapped for roles in A Working Man. Harbour will also be seen later this year in Thunderbolts*, and Peña was recently featured in the first episode of Landman, the Paramount+ series from Taylor Sheridan.

A Working Man follows Levon Cade (Statham), a man with a dark past who is called back into the life he left behind when a young girl is kidnapped.

Why ‘Emilia Pérez’ Was Oscar Snubbed But Conquered France’s César Awards
Image
In the end, Emilia Pérez went two for 13. Jacques Audiard’s unclassifiable Mexican cartel transgender musical went into the 97th Academy Awards as the theoretical frontrunner. It’s 13 nominations — for best picture, director, actress, supporting actress, adapted screenplay, international feature, cinematography, film editing, makeup/hairstyling, original score, sound and two for original song — were the most ever for a non-English-language film, beating the 10 noms each for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Roma, and within touching distance of the all-time record held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land, which earned 14 each.

But when the votes were counted, Emilia Pérez walked away with just two awards: A best supporting actress nod for Zoe Saldaña and the best original song honor for “El Mal.”

We all know why. Emilia Pérez suffered the most spectacular derailing of an Oscar campaign in recent memory. There was just a week between the Jan.

Jason Statham & Dwayne Johnson's Action Team-up 'Hobbs & Shaw' Finally Finds New Streaming Home
Image
Action icons Jason Statham and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are forced to join forces in this action movie spin-off, which has finally found a new streaming home. Released back in 2019, The Stath and The Rock’s Fast and Furious team-up movie, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, has not been available to stream anywhere. Which, frankly, is tantamount to cinematic sacrilege. Thankfully, streaming platform Peacock has now stepped up, adding the Hobbs and Shaw outing to its library.

Directed by David Leitch from a script by Chris Morgan and Drew Pearce, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw takes place after the events of The Fate of the Furious and before the events of F9 and follows Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw and Dwayne Johnson Luke Hobbs as they face off against Idris Elba’s “Black Superman” Brixton Lore. Brimming with lively banter from the charismatic stars, as well...

Everyone Stop Sleeping on Jason Statham & Frank Grillo's 'Homefront'
Image
For over two sensational decades, beloved Hollywood leading man and bona fide action superstar Jason Statham has been thrilling moviegoers all across the world with his dazzling physical prowess and undeniable charm. In 2013, he continued his silver screen takeover when he starred in the taut action film Homefront, in which he appears as a retired DEA agent who moves to a remote Louisiana town with his young daughter to start a new life, only to have his checkered past catch up with him and cause more trouble.

With a stellar cast of fellow cinema greats including James Franco, Winona Ryder, and Frank Grillo, the criminally-underrated thriller performed solidly at the box office but nonetheless failed to achieve the recognition (or Rotten Tomatoes score) it rightfully deserved. Statham unsurprisingly shined in the role of the devoted father and former DEA agent, who faces threats both old and new as he attempts...
