Back in 1988, instead of playing the product placement game, Eddie Murphy transformed McDonald's Restaurant into McDowell's for Coming to America, one of the movie's best jokes. If you've ever dreamed of visiting the spoof restaurant, you're finally going to get your chance. A real-life version of McDowell's is opening in the spirit of Halloween. You just have to live, or happen to be visiting Hollywood, this fall.
Coming to America 2 is currently in the works, with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall ready to reprise their iconic comedic roles from the hit 80s comedy. But while fans wait for that sequel to become a reality, they'll be able to revisit the movie in a completely different, albeit much more subversive way.
McDowell's was one of the key locations in Coming to America. Eddie Murphy's young Prince Akeem takes a job at the fast food restaurant to learn more about American living.

The “Lawrence of Arabia” of half-assed Adam Sandler comedies, “Sandy Wexler” is an epic period piece that spans 10 years and 131 minutes of mildly amusing mediocrity before climaxing with a Rob Schneider cameo where he plays a Middle Eastern man in full brownface — it’s awful, and yet it’s almost objectively Sandler’s best movie since “Funny People.”
Of course, quality has never been a very useful metric for measuring Sandler’s work, and that’s especially true now that we’re knee-deep in an eight-picture Netflix deal which guarantees that, for the foreseeable future, we can expect new Sandler films to arrive with all the predictably of seasonal allergies. Once upon a time, he was a cottage industry — now, he’s an assembly line.
But if “Sandy Wexler” is only the slightest bit funnier than “The Do-Over” or “The Ridiculous Six,” the third of Sandler’s streaming offerings is...

Earlier this week, singer Sinead O'Connor made headlines when she accused talk show host and comedian Arsenio Hall for the untimely and unexpected death of musical icon Prince. Now, Arsenio has responded by slapping the woman with a $5 million lawsuit. Hall is suing O'Connor for libel due to the accusations pointed towards him.
In a Facebook post on her official page, Sinead O'Connor accused Arsenio Hall of being Prince's longtime drug dealer. She also claimed that Hall had spiked her marijuana while visiting Eddie Murphy's home several years ago. Though Prince's cause of death has not been confirmed or announced, there have been plenty of rumors swirling that either painkillers or hard drugs lead to Prince Rogers Nelson's passing. This was cause for alarm according to Sinead O'Connor, who had this to say in her initial statement.

While the Sheriff's Office later released details behind the untimely death, no cause of death has been confirmed at this time. The future of Dan Harmon's "Community" remains very much up in the air (at this point, if Yahoo orders another season, it would likely be a "Community: The New Class" approach, with Joel McHale, Jim Rash and a bunch of newbies). The future of Harmon and Justin Roiland's Adult Swim series "Rick and Morty," on the other hand, seems so secure that, in an interview earlier this week, the two creators made several casual references to things they intend to do in season 3. "Rick and Morty" began in Roiland's mind as an R-rated "Back to the Future" parody where Doc Brown relationship with Marty McFly is much darker and crueler. As Harmon explained to me last year, it evolved into its current imaginative sci-fi form where Rick is the drunk super-genius grandfather of Morty (both voiced by Roiland), forever taking his grandson on disturbing adventures across time, space,...

CBS has named English actor James Corden as the new host of "The Late Late Show," where he will succeed the departing Craig Ferguson sometime in 2015. Corden won a 2012 Tony for the play "One Man, Two Guv'nors," co-stars with Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo in "Begin Again," has appeared twice on "Doctor Who" and co-created and stars in the Hulu series "The Wrong Mans." On the whole, though, it's fair to say he's even less well known to U.S. TV audiences than Ferguson was when he took over "Late Late Show" a few years after the end of "The Drew Carey Show." In this case, CBS is clearly betting on talent over celebrity, while also doing nothing to diversify the ranks of network late night talk. As somebody who doesn't watch any of these shows anymore, the Corden news merits a shrug, unless CBS gives him license to throw...

“Just be careful. She doesn’t suffer fools.” That was the advice a publicist gave me just before they put me on the phone with Lauren Bacall about 20 years ago. She was promoting a TNT movie, The Portrait, and as a writer-producer on The Arsenio Hall Show I had persuaded the powers that be to book her on the show — even if, on the surface, she wasn’t the typical kind of contemporary guest we often had on the show. Quite frankly, I just wanted to meet Lauren Bacall, to just hear that legendary sultry voice on the other end of the phone. So I set about doing the pre-interview and apparently passed the “no fools” test because I found her to be a pussycat.

I didn’t see Robin Williams‘ attempt at a new sitcom, CBS’ The Crazy Ones. I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to think that the great Robin was, at only 62, already making the trip back to weekly TV half-hours after such a stellar, Oscar-winning career in films and such a bright, unhinged light on comedy stages for all of his career. It’s just too constricting for this kind of talent. It’s even sadder to think the show got cancelled after one season, a failure that must have been hard to take. No, my most recent memories of Robin Williams are on the big screen, where he seemed to be heading for a place of renewal, not only as the funnyman everyone knew, but really a fine dramatic actor. Jay Leno’s touch couldn’t help pal Arsenio Hall make it beyond one season in his return to late-night. After weeks of speculation, CBS Television Distribution has made a decision not to proceed with a second season of the syndicated Arsenio Hall Show, despite renewing the show for Season 2 in February after securing a two-year deal with the Tribune stations pre-launch. Leno surprised Hall in February when he made his first TV appearance after departing The Tonight Show to give him the news of the show’s renewal. But, after a stellar launch (1.9 in households, 1.0 in adults 18-49), The Arsenio Hall Show quickly faded in the ratings and never bounced back, despite a boost from a highly-rated Prince episode in March and appearances by Leno and Eddie Murphy. Cbstd tried righting the ship with an executive producer change in October when Eric Pankowski replaced Neal Kendall at the helm.

Somehow this doesn't surprise us. During an appearance earlier this week on Chelsea Lately, Wiz Khalifa was asked by guest host T.J. Miller just how much he spends on marijuana each month. "None now," the rapper said. "I get it for free." In fact, Khalifa not only revealed that he actually has a marijuana company that sponsors him, but they also have a strain of weed named after him (Khalifa Kush) as well. "It's an indica," he explained. "It wakes you up...Indicas wake me up. I like to be really, really high." Earlier this month, the subject of marijuana came up (naturally) when Khalifa stopped by The Arsenio Hall Show. When asked what it...

TerRio Harshaw is in first grade, and nearly as wide as he is tall. He’s also the most recognizable star on Vine, despite not having an account. Instead, the Riverdale, Georgia, native stars in clips taken by his teenage neighbor Maleek — or that’s what he did before leaving home to travel the country as a viral sensation, showing up at nightclubs (reportedly earning $8,000 per appearance), Super Bowl Media Day (where he drew the attention of cheerleaders), music-video shoots, and The Arsenio Hall Show, all under the care of a 25-year-old manager from Florida. TerRio controls no aspect of the business that’s grown around him, not even the camera-phone. TerRio is known for a dance, first recorded by Maleek last summer in a Vine post that collected more than 300,000 “likes” and even more re-Vines. Maleek commands, “Ooh, kill ’em!” — which would become the TerRio catchphrase — as...

News of David Letterman's impending retirement rocked the late-night TV world this week, and the development seems to have hit home with Jimmy Fallon. The Tonight Show host took a moment on Friday's show to reminisce about the influence Letterman had on his own career, noting that Letterman had asked a young Fallon to fill in for him when the veteran host got shingles. That's where he got "the bug" (not shingles, he clarified).

When we think of the Late Night Wars that erupted when Johnny Carson retired in the early ’90s, we tend to recall the conflict as fought between two fierce adversaries: David Letterman and Jay Leno. There was, however, another dog in the fight as well: Arsenio Hall, who came out guns blazing in 1989 and, once Leno had officially taken over Tonight, memorably promised to “kick Jay’s ass” in the pages of Entertainment Weekly.
Of course, by now, all that bad blood is ancient history. Leno and Hall would eventually make up, enjoying a mutual friendship and respect — and clearly,...

Following David Letterman's surprise retirement announcement yesterday, many late-night talk-show hosts, all of whom began their careers during the three decades Letterman has been on the air, have begun paying their tributes.
Jimmy Fallon, who hosts The Tonight Show – the show that Letterman was vying for when Johnny Carson said his final good night after three decades – told The Hollywood Reporter that Letterman was "the greatest." "[He is] one of the true innovators in TV history," he said. "He's made us all better."

Joined by the other members of supergroup Tgt, Ginuwine performed his 1996 hit "Pony," signature grind song of lonely bachelors, competent jockeys and horse men, in a performance that aired on The Arsenio Hall Show. Ginuwine's pipes aren't what they used to be nearly two decades on, but no one can say he doesn't still have the moves. Maybe Donna Meagle would say it, but that's just because she's family.

The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder is delivering a new series to Adult Swim, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Black Jesus follows a modern-day Jesus living in Compton and trying to “spread love and kindness” in the neighborhood.
I know some of you were disappointed that Mason Dye wouldn’t be sticking around for the Flowers in the Attic sequel, but E! has some news that should make up for that. Dye has joined the cast of Teen Wolf. Even better, he’ll be playing a new, gay member of the lacrosse team. Dye isn’t the only new cast member who will play a part of the lacrosse team, Khylin Rhambo and Dylan Sprayberry are also joining the supernatural drama.
Does this mean we’ll finally get to see more of Danny?
Gabourey Sidibe will have a recurring role on Empire, the hip-hop drama from Precious director Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.

Rick Ross appeared on "The Arsenio Hall Show" last night (March 6) to play “Sanctified,” a personal favorite from his new album “Mastermind,” but no one was prepared for Kanye West to show up for his verses on the song. Watch the clip below. Hall billed Rick Ross’ performance as featuring “very special friends,” which turned out to be West and Big Sean. The crowd goes nuts when Ye comes out at the 1:30 mark, rocking a thick gold chain and growling his bar about being “too aggressive!?” This week, Hall hosted another musical legend — Prince. Below the Rick Ross video, check out the Purple One and his band 3rdEyeGirl perform a new song, "FunkNRoll," which will likely appear on his forthcoming album “Plectrumelectrum.” "The Arsenio Hall Show" disappeared for nearly 20 years before returning in late 2013, but it's safe to say Arsenio is back.

He’s always up for rocking the microphone, and Kanye West gave the folks over at “The Arsenio Hall Show” a little extra thrill last night (March 6).
The “No Church in the Wild” rapper showed up during Rick Ross' performance of “Sanctified” along with fellow emcee Big Sean, and the crowd went wild.
Arsenio kicked things off, “Y’all good? I can’t hear you. Are you big Rick Ross fans? He’s gangster ain’t he? Rick Ross is so gangster his beard has warrants.”
“Kicking it off tonight performing ‘Sanctified,’ here is Rick ‘The Boss’ Ross and some very special friends. Go, y’all!”...

It's not every day Kanye West just so happens to show up on late-night unannounced! But on Thursday's Arsenio Hall Show, the rapper and Big Sean did just that when they hopped onstage to assist Rick Ross on "Sanctified," a track off his new album Mastermind. (A source confirmed Yeezus' surprise performance to E! News exclusively hours before Arsenio aired, saying the unknowing audience was "in shock" when Kim Kardashian's love appeared.) Mr. West brought his typical swag to the stage, pairing sneakers, jeans, a simple shirt and jacket with his a super sized gold chain. The audience went wild when 'Ye appeared (it's around the 1:30 mark in the clip above), and as you can see, he...
