As an older adult male, Mummies (2023) was a delightful surprise for me, despite being a children's animated movie. The film's concept is refreshingly unique, blending ancient Egyptian lore with modern-day adventures. What truly stood out was the charming chemistry and romance between the lead characters. The playful banter added lightheartedness, making their relationship both fun and heartwarming to watch.
Though designed for younger audiences, the witty dialogue and clever jokes kept me entertained throughout. It's one of those family-friendly films that has something for everyone. Definitely worth a watch if you're in the mood for some feel-good, animated fun!

OK...
I watched this movie not knowing anything about it.
So are there some glaring issues, yea, but then once I heard about the fact this movie was made for $12 million and not $200 MILLION like sooooo many of todays movies, I gave it a TON more credit.
Its a typical kids movie, 'something happens, they go on an adventure to solve the issue, everyone is happy at the end'.
There is one issue that needs correcting, but with a $12 million budget, I can let it slide and for 4-9 yr old kids, they probably wouldn't notice anyways.
A decent non Woke movie that you can enjoy with the kids. I rate movies starting at a 5 and go UP or DOWN from there. This is a solid 5.5 out of 10.
Grab the popcorn and enjoy 90 minutes of family fun.

I saw this movie come aorund in my local movie theatre and It thought; "let's watch that. It can't be too bad?" Yet, I was surprised, the movie does follow a generic plotline if you ask me, but the humor in this movie landed well with me. Which kind of surprised me, because I usually don't like the humor in movies like this. The actress playing Nefer was also a surprisingly good singer. Better than I was expecting from someone who doesn't really show up on mything on IMDb. I'd like to see/hear more of her. The 3rd act did somehow surprise me.
To concluse this review: it's a generic movie with CGI animation that cut corners in a few places(if you see them, you WILL notice it), but overall, it's a decent watch. Not too bad to put on for the kids and who knows, you might even like it yourself?

I never write reviews but for now it felt necessary. I had very low expectations due to reading earlier reviews on IMDB but actually, this movie isn't that bad. It is a kids movie and my kids and I liked it. It is not a block buster as Frozen etc but still just a funny movie. Storyline is easy, but is was funny and my kids (3 and 5) laughed and were intrigued by the story. It is just a funny kids movie easily to watch. Would definitely recommend.
I have seen far worse kids movies (Maya the Bee, Superpets for example). During that movies I checked my watch regularly and noticed that my kids got distracted. But they really liked this one from beginning to end.

Don't expect to much from this film. Shrek it is certainly not, its Just a good all round kids movie. Casting is good, performances are generally solid, and the storyline was entertaining enough to keep my 7 yr focused and engaged from beginning to end.
Lastly, Thankfully the movie was free of the current usual, overtly political agenda nonsense that's been filling our screens over the past few years. Thank you Warner for having produced a film that at its heart is a simple uncomplicated kids movie that isn't out to beat the hell out of the audience by force feeding them social political agenda's that aren't appropriate in a kids film.
