Caio Blat and Luisa Arraes previously appeared on the stage play version of the novel, directed by Bia Lessa who also directed the actors in The Devil to Pay in the Backlands (2023).

That film is adapted from a monologue used in the novel, and in that other film Caio Blat also plays the role of Riobaldo.
