In The Paper, the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office finds a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

‘The Paper’ Renewed for Season 2, One Day Before Series Premiere on Peacock
Image
Don’t stop the presses: “The Paper” is on a roll. A day before the series’ Sept. 4 premiere on Peacock, “The Paper” has already been given an early Season 2 renewal by the streamer. The news comes as “The Paper,” which is set in “The Office” universe, has earned strong early buzz — leading to this major vote of confidence inside NBCUniversal.

“The Paper” renewal was set to be announced on Wednesday morning by stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore as they appeared on NBC’s “Today” show.

The early pickup comes as series co-creator Greg Daniels is already at work on plans for a Season 2. The greenlight now gives him and fellow exec producer/showrunner Michael Koman enough time to make sure that “The Paper” returns for its sophomore season around this same time next year.

“We definitely have ideas,” Daniels recently told Variety. “We’ve been talking about stories for...

The series was initially set to debut four episodes on that date, followed by weekly drops.

The 15 Best Nathan For You Episodes Ranked
Image
Before Nathan Fielder was an advocate for aviation safety, he was best known for his Comedy Central series "Nathan For You." A graduate of one of Canada's top business schools (with really good grades), Fielder used the series to help out small businesses by providing out-of-the-box solutions to their problems, with varying levels of success. If you're the type of person who can't stop thinking about those hilarious details in "The Rehearsal," the series run of "Nathan for You" is essentially a prequel to how far the HBO series goes in solving serious problems.

But where to begin? Some of Fielder's best work in "Nathan For You" that didn't make the cut on this list include him convincing a frozen yogurt shop to sell a "poop" flavored yogurt to attract curious customers, goading a caricature artist into incorporating offensive stereotypes in his drawings, and installing a "you break it, you...

The trailer for The Paperpulls back the curtain on the long-awaited spinoff of The Office. ‘The Paper’ Trailer: ‘The Office’ Offshoot Follows a Struggling Newspaper Staff That Includes Oscar Martinez
Image
Dunder Mifflin is back. Well, not exactly. But the documentary crew that filmed inside the fictional paper company’s office is back, and this time with a new subject.

“The Paper,” an offshoot of NBC’s beloved sitcom “The Office,” follows the staff of a struggling Midwestern newspaper, which happens to employ original series favorite Oscar Martinez (a role reprised by Oscar Nuñez). The mockumentary comedy series debuts on Peacock with four episodes on Sept. 4.

In the trailer, an ambitious journalist named Ned Sampson (Domhnall Gleeson) joins the Toledo Truth Teller as editor-in-chief, with big ideas on how to revitalize the newspaper, which shares office space with a toilet paper company. He must battle budget cuts and motivate a ragtag group of staffers played by Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and Nuñez. ‘The Paper’ Trailer: Long-Awaited ‘The Office’ Spinoff Is Already Giving Deadpan
Image
Greg Daniels must really have missed cubicles: “The Office” creator is back with a documentary-style sitcom spinoff series, titled “The Paper,” that reunites him with a slew of “Office” alums. Daniels and “Nathan For You” co-creator Michael Koman are the co-creators, co-showrunner, writers, and executive producers of the highly-anticipated Peacock series.

Much like “The Office,” “The Paper” revolves around an ensemble cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and “The Office” alum Oscar Nuñez. Original (Aka British) “The Office” stars and co-creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant executive produce “The Paper” along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille).

“The Office” was originally created for BBC by Gervais and Merchant, where it ran from 2001 to 2003 before Daniels adapted it for American television in 2005. The U.S. version ran for nine seasons and earned 42 Primetime Emmy Award nominations,...

Inside the Episode That Earned ‘The Rehearsal’ Emmy Nominations
Image
“The Rehearsal” may not have achieved liftoff among the Emmy nominees for Best Comedy Series, but Nathan Fielder’s Season 2 exploration of cockpit communication and airplane safety — via the best-produced, often highest concept scenarios that HBO’s money can buy — did break through in the Writing, Directing, and Picture Editing categories.

Editor Adam Locke-Norton was justly recognized for managing the two-year flashback to Fielder’s pilot training and making his 737 flight in “My Controls” one of the most involving season finales of recent memory. But Fielder’s own Writing and Directing nominations, and editor Stacy Moon’s nod, were all for “Pilot’s Code,” aka, the one where Nathan Fielder lives as Sully Sullenberger, down to recreating the airline pilot’s earliest life with giant puppet parents.

That episode was a huge lift for the entire crew on “The Rehearsal,” some of whom have been empowering (enabling?) Fielder’s concepts since “Nathan For You.

Fans Suspect That a Real Life Airport Is Being Run by Nathan Fielder
Image
Nathan Fielder has been pretty quiet lately. Maybe a little too quiet.

After Season Two of The Rehearsal wrapped up, we heard quite a lot from Fielder. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, attended Q&As and even popped by CNN’s The Situation Room to excoriate the Faa for ignoring his aviation safety advice.

Play

Although Fielder may not be releasing new material any time soon, some of his fans have found one recent news story to be suspiciously Fielder-esque.

It was reported that Pittsburgh International Airport is seeking volunteers to help ensure that their new terminal is 100 percent ready to open. How? By participating in an massive “dress rehearsal.” Yup, apparently the airport is asking three to four thousand people to show up and “act as regular passengers,” frequenting shops and even collecting luggage. Some of the volunteer actors will even be given scripts to inform their behavior.

Is Nathan For You Real Or Scripted?
Image
"Nathan For You" is unbelievably uncomfortable, and I mean that in the best way possible. Nathan Fielder's Comedy Central series, which ran on the network from 2013 to 2017, centers around Fielder himself going to businesses in need of help and pitching increasingly absurd ideas. So, is the series scripted?

Not really, no; the very nature of "Nathan For You" depends entirely on the reaction from the very real business owners and entrepreneurs that Fielder interacts with. In a profile with GQ in 2015, Fielder explained that he and his crew essentially flew by the seat of their pants when they made the series.

"Really good ideas come from weird places," Fielder replied when interviewer Alex Wong asked about the show's creative process. "There's no formula." The actor, writer, and producer continued:

"Sometimes, we'll think of an interesting scene or concept that doesn't relate to a business and think, 'How can we...

‘South Park’ Fans Flock to Local Libraries in Order to See ‘Banned’ Episodes
Image
As we’ve mentioned before, the back catalogue of South Park episodes will be streaming exclusively on Paramount+ beginning in July. Unless of course, it just continues to stream on HBO Max/Max/HBO Max Again, as some reports have suggested. The plan is basically about as straightforward as the plan to cure Mr. Mackey’s childhood trauma by visiting the subconscious layer of reality that’s “like a taco inside taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream.”

But the biggest worry amongst South Park fans right now concerns which episodes will still be available to the public going forward.

HBO Max and Hulu famously removed five episodes from the show’s streaming library “because they depicted a character based on the Prophet Muhammad.” But the Paramount+ move sparked rumors that the streamer would pull a number of other episodes from circulation,...

Philosophy Expert Backs Up Nathan Fielder’s ‘The Rehearsal’ Theory
Image
While Nathan Fielder has yet to see his concerns about inter-cockpit communication satisfactorily addressed by the U.S. government, some of the theories floated by the comedian in The Rehearsal have been vindicated by at least one former National Transportation Safety Board member and, more importantly, the lead singer of early 2000s Hot Topic-friendly rockers Evanescence.

And now, a psychology journal is showing their support for Fielder — specifically for The Rehearsal, and not, say, the episode of Nathan for You where he convinced haunted-house patrons that they had contracted a terminal illness.

Writing in Psychology Today, William Irwin, a professor of philosophy at King’s College in Pennsylvania, defended Fielder’s strategy of painstakingly rehearsing real-life events via elaborate simulations. Irwin, who has penned books like Seinfeld and Philosophy and The Simpsons and Philosophy, suggested that the approach is “not as crazy as it sounds.”

And keep in mind, the thing...

Why Everyone Should Be Watching The Rehearsal on HBO
Image
If you haven’t heard of The Rehearsal, created by Nathan Fielder, welcome to a whole new world in comedy.

Nathan Fielder is best known for his documentary-style comedy show, Nathan For You, and the dry and painfully honest persona he portrays in his shows.

He also recently starred in the Showtime show The Curse alongside Emma Stone.

(John P. Johnson/HBO)

Recently, Fielder has gotten plenty of buzz online for his new show The Rehearsal on HBO.

Similar to Nathan For You, The Rehearsal is a comedy docuseries that follows Fielder as he replicates real-life scenarios and helps ordinary people “rehearse” for events.

While the scenarios start small, such as coming clean about a lie about trivia, they gradually escalate to higher stakes, such as raising a child.

Nathan Fielder Escalates Beef With U.S. Congressman
Image
The daring 737 pilot behind the “Miracle Over the Mojave,” Nathan Fielder, recently popped by CNN’s The Situation Room to discuss his theories concerning airline safety, as seen in the most recent season of The Rehearsal.

He was joined by the HBO show’s resident expert, former National Transportation Safety Board member, and recent National Aviation Hall of Fame inductee, John Goglia — because roping senior citizens into joining him in his wacky causes is Fielder’s M.O.

For more than 15 minutes, Fielder chatted with hosts Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown, noting that his concerns about problematic power dynamics in cockpits could also be applied to cable news anchors. “Pamela, I’m sure you don’t say some things to Wolf,” Fielder suggested, reasoning that the famous anchor might be somewhat intimidating because he’s “in movies. He’s in Mission: Impossible.”

Fielder, sporting a cap reading “737,” also addressed the...

'They're Dumb': Nathan Fielder Reacts to Faa Dismissing HBO Show's Controversial Take on Airplane Crashes
Image
Nathan Fielder attempted to improve communication between pilots to help prevent airplane crashes in the second season of his HBO series, The Rehearsal, and despite the show's dark humor, he believes he highlighted a very real flaw in the system. His claims are being dismissed by the federal government, however, leaving Fielder feeling dissatisfied.

As seen in The Rehearsal, Fielder posited the theory that co-pilots with less experience all too often do not speak up when a superior officer makes questionable decisions on a flight, potentially leading to deadly crashes which could have been prevented. He tested his theory by training to become a certified 737 pilot in order to attempt his new communication techniques. After the episode premiered, the Federal Aviation Administration stated (via CNN) that all airline pilots are mandated to "complete interpersonal communication training, adding that they aren't "seeing the data that supports the show’s central claim,...

Online Detectives May Have Figured Out Nathan Fielder’s Big Twist for ‘The Rehearsal’ Finale
Image
This article contains potential spoilers for the Season Two finale of The Rehearsal.

After ruining a co-pilot’s relationship, creating a fake Canadian Idol-esque reality show and recreating the life of Captain Sully Sullenberger using giant lactating puppets and the music of Evanescence, what could Nathan Fielder possibly have in store for the finale of The Rehearsal?

While the climax of season two won’t air until Sunday night, some intrepid fans seem to have figured out where it might be headed…

The overarching theme of this season has obviously been aviation safety, specifically, whether or not Fielder’s elaborate role-playing scenarios could help train co-pilots to be more assertive in the cockpit during critical moments. The idea that the man who invented the musical smoke detector could prevent even a single plane crash might sound ridiculous, but at least one expert has validated his strategy to some extent.

Nathan Fielder Conspiracy Theorists Suspect That Paramount Was Behind Recent ‘Hit Piece’
Image
Despite the fact that Season One potentially traumatized a small child, the second season of The Rehearsal has somehow proven to be far more controversial, all thanks to an aviation-themed parody of Canadian Idol.

As we’ve already mentioned, Variety recently published an interview with one of the aggrieved former contestants of Wings of Voice, Nathan Fielder’s reality singing competition that was only as real as Nate’s Lizard Lounge and The Diarrhea Times.

While presented as a damning criticism of The Rehearsal, Fielder fans were quick to point out that much about the story didn’t make a whole lot of sense. For one thing, the article noted that the musician in question, Lana Love, has a record deal with Warner Music Group, which makes it seem odd that she’d personally spend more than $5,000 in order to sing conspicuously royalty-free songs to a panel of stoic airline pilots.

‘Thunderbolts*’ and ‘Andor’ Redeem Struggling Franchises, While ‘Weapons’ Is the Year’s Best Trailer

The cinematic universes of Marvel and Star Wars have been struggling critically — and even in viewership — for awhile now, but “Thunderbolts*” and Disney+’s “Andor,” respectively, are restoring faith to desperately treaded I.P. On this week’s episode of IndieWire’s “Screen Talk” podcast, co-hosts Anne Thompson and Ryan Lattanzio dive into the merits and demerits of each.

Disney’s “Thunderbolts*” co-starring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan is about to dethrone “Sinners” at IMAX theaters, though Warner Bros. is prepping to re-release the latter hit film in premium venues. And on 70mm. For now, this weekend’s best box-office bet looks to be “Thunderbolts*,” which has garnered better-than-usual reviews for a Marvel movie and promises something different and more character-driven than simply movie chess pieces across a board, as so many MCU movies tend to be doing.

Anne praises the character work and Pugh’s performance especially, while Ryan...

Auditioners for ‘The Rehearsal’s Fake Singing Competition Show Say the Experience Was ‘Super Sketchy’
Image
Most of the buzz around the latest installment of Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal involved the star’s beef with Paramount+ over their decision to pull an episode of Nathan for You due to cultural “sensitivities.” Oddly, the episode in question was the one about Holocaust awareness, and not the one featuring a robot arm that nearly turned Fielder into a “registered sex offender.”

But the bulk of this week’s show was actually about Fielder’s fake TV singing competition Wings of Voice, which was created to help airline co-pilots train to become more assertive, while also seemingly helping Fielder overcome the psychic trauma of working as a junior producer for Canadian Idol 20 years ago.

If there was any doubt about whether or not the aspiring vocalists who showed up to audition for Wings of Voice were real, Fielder fans uncovered an old post on the America’s Got Talent...

Nathan Fielder Criticizes Paramount+ With Nazi Analogy in 'The Rehearsal'
Image
Comedian, writer, and actor Nathan Fielder isn't known for a subtle sense of humor, especially in shows like Nathan for Youand The Rehearsal, which seek to explore the depths of human awkwardness and the various pitfalls of everyday social situations. But his most recent episode of The Rehearsal is particularly heavy-handed even for Fielder, as it addresses the quiet removal of a Nathan for You episode by portraying the culprit as a Nazi solider.

In 2023, Fielder discovered that "Horseback Riding/Man Zone," or Season 3, Episode 2 of his hit Comedy Central series Nathan for You, was no longer available on Paramount+. The episode in question follows Fielder as he launches a real-life apparel brand called Summit Ice, which promotes Holocaust awareness with the tagline "Deny nothing," and donates all profits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre. However, according to Paramount, the episode was removed after executives at Paramount+ Germany claimed that it contained antisemitic content,...

Nathan Fielder Calls Out Paramount+ for Removing an Old Episode of His Show 'Nathan for You'
Image
Nathan Fielder is calling out Paramount+.

On Sunday’s episode of The Rehearsal, Nathan revealed a conversation he had with Paramount after discovery Paramount+ removed a 2015 episode of his series Nathan for You, which originally aired on Comedy Central.

In that episode, titled “Horseback Riding/Man Zone,” after the Vancouver-based jacket company Taiga posted a tribute to Doug Collins, a Holocaust denier, Nathan launches a (real) winter-wear line called Summit Ice. Nathan is from Vancouver, and Taiga claims its apparel as “German-engineered” and “Canadian-made,” via THR.

Keep reading to find out more…

Summit Ice is actually a real brand that donates all of its profits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre in Vancouver. The Jewish actor and comedian says sales since 2015 have raised “millions of dollars.”

On The Rehearsal Season 2 Episode 2, Nathan calls Summit Ice his “proudest achievement,” and says it helps prove that “a comedy show could make a difference.

Nathan Fielder blasts Paramount+ for 'Nathan For You' removal
Image
Only a single episode of ‘Nathan for You’ has been pulled from Paramount+, but it’s one near and dear to Fielder’s heart.

A streaming service deciding to remove a TV show or movie, or even a single episode, from its on-demand library is hardly a new phenomenon. Titles get pulled from streamers all the time so that the service’s parent company can save on back-end costs, residuals, licensing deals, and much more. However, Nathan Fielder’s distress over Paramount+ removing one specific episode of his series “Nathan For You” stems from a much different reason, although still primarily financially motivated. On Sunday, Fielder used his new series “The Rehearsal” (which airs on HBO and Max) to pull the curtain back on why is so upset about Paramount’s decision to pull the episode.

Key Details: Pulled from Paramount+: Paramount+ has scrubbed a single episode of “Nathan For You...

Nathan Fielder Confronts Paramount+ for Removing ‘Nathan for You’ Episode About Antisemitism on ‘The Rehearsal’
Image
Episode 2 of “The Rehearsal” Season 2 saw Nathan Fielder engaging in the kind of elaborate simulation of a social interaction that has become his trademark in recent years. But rather than a bar trivia dispute or an uncomfortable cockpit moment, this rehearsal saw the comedian prepare to tackle a real problem from his own professional life: the removal of the Summit Ice episode of “Nathan for You” from Paramount+.

Officially titled “Horseback Riding/Man Zone,” Season 3, Episode 2 of “Nathan for You” saw Fielder use his outlandish tactics to solve a variety of small business problems. The most notable storyline from the episode involved Fielder learning that the brand Taiga had published a tribute to a Holocaust denier, prompting him to start his own outerwear brand, Summit Ice, which placed Holocaust remembrance front and center. While the episode found humor in Fielder convincing a sporting goods store owner to let him build...

Nathan Fielder Recreates Paramount+ Removal of Nathan for You Episode
Nathan Fielder
Nathan Fielder used a recent episode of The Rehearsal to recount the removal of a 2015 Nathan for You episode from Paramount+. The episode focused on the creation of Summit Ice, a winter apparel brand Fielder launched after discovering that a Vancouver company had published a tribute to Holocaust denier Doug Collins. Summit Ice donates its profits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre.

Fielder said he noticed the episode, titled “Horseback Riding/Man Zone,” was missing from Paramount+ in late 2023. After contacting representatives at the company, Fielder was informed that the removal followed a “standards review” and that concerns over “sensitivities” were the reason. According to emails presented by Fielder, the initial decision was made by Paramount+ Germany, which raised concerns about content related to antisemitism following the Israel-Hamas conflict. The removal then expanded to other regions.

In The Rehearsal, Fielder detailed his efforts to communicate with Paramount+ carefully, noting...

‘The Rehearsal’ Portrays Paramount+ Germany as Nazis After Removal of ‘Nathan for You’ Episode
Image
Spoilers ahead for “The Rehearsal” Season 2, Episode 2

Nathan Fielder just turned the streaming wars into a more literal war, as on the latest episode of “The Rehearsal,” the comedian portrayed Paramount+ Germany as literal Nazis. The bit was sparked by the streamer’s removal of an episode of Comedy Central’s “Nathan for You.”

As with all things concerning Fielder, this is going to take a minute to explain.

In its first season, HBO’s “The Rehearsal” attempted to help people through difficult situations by designing customized “rehearsals” for them; elaborate productions filled with trained actors that allowed them to act out every possible scenario. Now in its second season, “The Rehearsal” is attempting to solve commercial airplane crashes. As wild as this leap may seem, it does make a degree of sense. Fielder uncovered a correlation between plane crashes and poor cockpit communication between pilots. So this season, Fielder...

‘The Rehearsal’ Exposes Nathan Fielder’s Paramount+ Feud Over Removed ‘Nathan For You’ Episode
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Rehearsal Season 2 Episode 2, “Star Potential.”] The Rehearsal‘s latest episode continues to explore Nathan Fielder‘s theory about miscommunication in airplane cockpits, but one of his latest schemes also revealed an apparent beef he has with streamer Paramount+. And while beef may be a strong word, Fielder’s desire to address a concern he had with the platform led to some extreme role-playing on his part. The crux being that he needed to improve his own communication skills to convey just how disheartened he was over an episode of his former series, Nathan For You, being removed from the streamer’s library. According to Fielder, it was brought to his attention that the second episode of Nathan For You‘s third season was removed from viewing. Having an actor portray himself in a dramatized retelling of events, we see “Nathan” go back and forth over email with the company, reading real emails ...

Nathan Fielder Reveals Why Paramount+ Removed ‘Nathan for You’ Episode
Image
On HBO and Max, Nathan Fielder is attempting to rid America of all air disasters. But The Rehearsal just made a stop in Paramount-bashing territory.

On Sunday’s episode of The Rehearsal, Fielder revealed a conversation he had with Paramount after discovery Paramount+ had removed a 2015 episode of his series Nathan for You, which originally aired on Comedy Central, one of Paramount Global’s cable channels.

In Nathan for You season three’s second episode, titled “Horseback Riding/Man Zone,” after the Vancouver-based jacket company Taiga posted a tribute to Doug Collins, a Holocaust denier, Fielder launches a (real) winter-wear line called Summit Ice. Fielder is from Vancouver; Taiga touts its apparel as “German-engineered” and “Canadian-made.”

Though like all things Fielder the endeavor began as a low-key goof, Summit Ice is actually a very real brand. It donates all of its profits to the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre in Vancouver.

The Rehearsal Calls Out Paramount+ For Cowardly Removing A Daring Nathan For You Episode
Image
Although "The Rehearsal" season 2 is largely about Nathan Fielder's valiant quest to solve passenger airplane crashes once and for all, its second episode detours into solving another issue: In 2023, the streaming service Paramount+ removed a season 3 episode of Fielder's hit show "Nathan For You." Fielder struggled to effectively raise his concerns with Paramount+ at the time because, as he notes in this latest episode, he didn't want to mess up his chances of getting "The Curse" renewed.

The removed "Nathan For You" episode was "Horseback Riding/Man Zone." It features a storyline where Fielder is dismayed to find out that Taiga, the company that owned his favorite jacket, had published a tribute in 2001 to "notorious Holocaust denier Doug Collins in their winter catalog." As a Jew himself, Fielder could not abide this. He stopped wearing Taiga apparel and created his own apparel company called Summit Ice, which would heavily...

Nathan Fielder Depicts Paramount+ as Nazis After Streamer Removed ‘Nathan for You’ Episode Due to ‘Sensitivities’ Around Antisemitism
Image
In a 2015 episode of the reality comedy series “Nathan for You,” Nathan Fielder starts an outdoor apparel line called Summit Ice. It had come to his attention that the Canadian label behind his favorite winter jacket, Taiga, had published a tribute to the Holocaust denier Doug Collins. So Fielder, who is Jewish, started a competing brand, donating all proceeds to Holocaust education.

Hoping to sell Summit Ice jackets in stores, Fielder recruits a rabbi to help design a striking retail display that showcases the brand’s mission. As is the nature of “Nathan for You” — which aired on Comedy Central from 2013-2017 — their pitch is ridiculous, presenting their clothing behind a replica of the Auschwitz gate, swastika pennants and a fake skeleton in an oven.

As expected, the owner of the store rejects the pitch, and tells Fielder, “Find something else to do with your life, because you are not good at this.

Nathan Fielder Live Stream Confuses Already Confused Fans
Image
Anyone who’s even vaguely familiar with the work of Nathan Fielder was likely suspicious when HBO and Max announced that Fielder would be promoting the second season of The Rehearsal by live streaming on Instagram for “12 hours straight.”

For one thing, Fielder isn’t exactly known for oversharing on social media. Although he did once post a candid photo of himself hanging out with all of his friends:

Plus, the Nathan for You star has frequently tried to find ways to subvert the conventions of his promotional duties, such as how he once appeared on Conan O’Brien’s talk show with a “backup” celebrity guest, just in case the interview didn’t go well.

When people checked out Fielder’s livestream this morning, beginning at 9 a.m., it initially seemed as though he was actually present on a webcam, preparing to engage with his fans. “These are good questions,...

‘The Office’ Stars Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer Had a ‘Moving’ Set Visit to New Spinoff Series: ‘Not Only Was Oscar There, but Our Crew’ as Well
Image
Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey may not be starring in the new spinoff series of “The Office” from series showrunner Greg Daniels, but the hosts of the “Office Ladies” podcast made a stop by the set to see the new production in action — and meet up with their former co-star Oscar Nuñez.

“Jenna and I stopped by set,” Kinsey said in an appearance on “Today” celebrating the original series’ 20th anniversary. “Greg had invited us, and we showed up, and not only was Oscar there, but our crew, so many of these wonderful people. Because the crew was our extended family, and we’re still really close with them, and that was really moving to see.”

Nuñez also appeared in the segment and teased his inclusion in the new spinoff. The actor will be reprising his role as Oscar Martinez in Peacock’s followup series, which is rumored to be titled “The Paper.

The Rehearsal Season 2 Review: An Unhinged Nathan Fielder Somehow Reaches New Heights
Image
The biggest challenge of "The Rehearsal" season 2 was simply escaping its first season's shadow. Season 1 was a stunning experiment that stretched the boundaries of what a reality TV show was even allowed to be. There were moments in that first season so meta it felt like the show was collapsing in on itself, yet kept going. Moments where it felt like Nathan Fielder was breaking the law, but somehow continued along as a free man. By the end of season 1 we'd gotten an unexpectedly deep look into Fielder's tortured psyche, to the point where it felt we couldn't possibly journey any deeper into him. After watching Fielder spiral into insanity in his attempt to capture the joys of fatherhood, how can he up the ante from there?

The answer is that Nathan Fielder has shifted from tackling parenthood to tackling one of the most high-stakes issues he possibly could: aviation safety.

‘The Rehearsal’ Season 2 Review: Nathan Fielder’s Audacious HBO Show Is Best When It Takes To The Skies
Image
Nathan Fielder, whether you consider him a genius or a sociopath, is a man who always commits to the bit. The question of whether the bit is always as humorous or thoughtful as he wants it to be is another one entirely, but there is something perpetually fascinating about seeing him spend days, months, and even now seemingly years setting something up. The creator of the series “Nathan for You,” “The Rehearsal,” and “The Curse,” Fielder has been increasingly expanding his aspirations for what this can look like.

Nathan Fielder's The Rehearsal Season 2 Trailer Brings The Absurdity To The Airline Industry
Image
In 2022, Nathan Fielder released the first episode of "The Rehearsal," which was all about using role-playing exercises to help people prepare for awkward social interactions. The season quickly raised its ambitions; within a few episodes, it switched focus to Nathan trying to prepare for fatherhood, crossing all sorts of ethical boundaries to do so. The result was a truly thrilling season of reality television, but one that also made us wonder if maybe child acting shouldn't be legal.

The long-awaited trailer for season 2 just dropped, and it seems like Nathan's upped the stakes yet again. He's no longer interested in helping people prepare for raising a child; he's trying to stop passenger airplanes from falling out of the sky. It's a timely problem given the apparent rise in plane accidents lately, but can we really trust Nathan to be the one to solve it? We don't know if he'll succeed,...

Nathan Fielder Uses Role-Play to Prevent Plane Crashes (?!) in Season 2 of The Rehearsal — Watch a New Trailer
Image
Nathan Fielder is looking to tackle a serious problem in the new season of The Rehearsal — and as usual, we’re having a hard time telling if he’s joking or not.

HBO has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Fielder’s wildly uncomfortable reality/comedy series, premiering Sunday, Apr. 20 at 10:30/9:30c. In it, Fielder declares that he’s been “studying commercial aviation disasters as a hobby,” and he’s noticed a troubling trend. He doesn’t think pilots are rehearsing enough, so he’s using his soundstage to help them do that, constructing an elaborate fake airport and,...

A Reporter Went to Great Lengths to Try and Find Nathan Fielder’s ‘Lost’ Movie
Image
A lot of Nathan Fielder’s work seems to be shrouded in mystery these days — from the surreal ending of last year’s The Curse, to the upcoming second season of The Rehearsal, to the recent news that Fielder has been visiting Elizabeth Holmes in prison for a “top-secret” project that may be a documentary. Or perhaps just an article for The Diarrhea Times?

But possibly even more perplexing is the fact that Fielder helmed a feature film that’s barely seen the light of day. Tucked amongst his credits on the Internet Movie Database is a 2008 documentary, directed by Fielder, called Love and Cameras in America. According to the synopsis on IMDb, the film answers the question, “What happens when a man with virtually no experience making movies and no interest in politics is sent to make a documentary about the 2008 United States presidential election?” Noting that “for better or for worse,...
