Paris-based company The Party Film Sales has closed a raft of sales on “We Believe You,” a gripping family custody drama directed by Charlotte Devillers and Arnaud Dufeys, following its premiere at the Berlinale.
The film, which is produced by Makintosh Films, bowed in the newly-launched Perspectives section where it won a Special Mention.
“We Believe You” tells the story of Alice, a mother fighting for her children’s safety in a harrowing custody battle, accusing their father of a crime. Standing before a judge, she must speak up to protect them from their father before it’s too late.
The film stars Myriem Akheddiou in the lead role, known for her work in the Dardenne brothers’ Young Ahmed, alongside Laurent Capelluto, Natali Broods (“Façades”), and rising young talents Ulysse Goffin and Adèle Pinckaers. “We Believe You” follows Dufeys’s short “Invincible Summer” which played at last year’s Berlin Film Festival.

I’m not going to lie to you: I more or less (more) gave up watching When Calls the Heart after the Lucas and Elizabeth debacle.
But that doesn’t mean I’m fully tapped out, and when I saw people concerned over the dream sequences from When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 6, I had to check it out.
And once I did, I wondered: Are Hearties ready for racier material?
(Hallmark Media/Screenshot)
Let’s face it: the majority of the When Calls the Heart audience is older. Hallmark skews older, which is why their most successful stars are middle-aged or older.
That’s not a bad thing, either, despite what advertisers will tell you.
The days of brand loyalty are gone. Gen X and Millennials rule middle age now, and we go where the wind takes us.
Someday, advertising will stop trying to get money from kids who...

Francis Ford Coppola and Marlon Brando on the sets of The Godfather (Credits: Paramount Pictures)
But the artist behind the creation of this gem of a film never intended to make more than one, let alone two sequels to the original story. He was “seduced” by Paramount which led to The Godfather Part III. Here is the story behind how it all happened!
Why Francis Ford Coppola made The Godfather III
In Hollywood, the creative vision of artists often clashes with the profit-driven goals of studios, and this clash can sometimes lead to the undoing of something truly special. Studios, eager to milk the success of a hit, tend to push for sequels or similar projects as long as...

Michael Douglas reminisced about meeting his now wife Catherine Zeta-Jones at France’s Deauville American Film Festival in 1998 as he received a career tribute on Friday, the opening night of the milestone 50th anniversary edition.
Douglas, who was introduced on stage by his “Franklin” co-star Ludivine Sagnier (“Lupin”) and drew a long standing ovation, went on to talk — partly in French — about his long history with the Deauville Film Festival and precisely the “slight issue of Catherine.”
“I had just seen three weeks before I came to the festival this movie ‘Zorro,’ ‘Mon Dieu!,” joked Douglas. “When I arrived supporting our film, I think it was ‘Perfect Murder,’ I look at the catalogue and I see that ‘Zorro’ is coming the next night, so I ask my assistant, ‘Can you find out if Catherine Zeta-Jones is coming?’ And is she coming alone and if I could have a drink with her.

Hallmark Channel When Calls The Heart news has some great updates to report. Mamie Laverock, who played Rosaleen Sullivan has taken her first steps since her horrible accident.
Hallmark Channel When Calls The Heart News – Who Was Rosaleen Sullivan?
Hearties may recall Mamie as Rosaleen Sullivan, daughter of Patrick (uncast character) and Molly Sullivan (Johannah Newmarch).
When her father died in a mining accident during Wcth, Rosaleen harbored resentment towards Henry Gowen (Martin Cummins).
She bid farewell to Hope Valley in Season 10, later becoming a nanny in Cape Fullerton to save up for nursing school.
During a visit to her mother Molly in Hope Valley, she pleasantly surprised Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow) with an apple and a borrowed book.
She eventually forgave Gowen, and in a generous move he offered to pay for her nursing school, which she finally accepted.

David Duchovny's film was renamed from Bucky F*cking Dent to Reverse the Curse to enhance its online visibility and avoid being filtered out by search algorithms due to the censored curse word in the original title. Reverse the Curse delves into the dynamics of family relationships against the backdrop of the intense 1978 American League East pennant race, focusing on a son's efforts to uplift his ailing father, a dedicated Red Sox fan. The films title change shows the impact of digital algorithms on creative expression, exposing a modern challenge where explicit language is censored while other mature content like violence remains less regulated.
David Duchovny's newest film, Reverse the Curse, serves as a great example of modern compromises in the creative landscape. Originally bearing the provocative title Bucky F*cking Dent, the film was renamed following advice that its chances for wider visibility might be stifled due to its content.

This article contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man Chapter 162, "Fearsome," by Tatsuki Fujimoto, available in English from Viz Media.
In Tatsuki Fujimoto's Chainsaw Man, Asa and Fami's Tokyo Devil Detention Center rescue mission has seen plenty of surprising victories, and -- in true Asa fashion -- literal stumbles. Those ups and downs have made this arc exciting to follow, especially once Asa finally discovered the truth about Denji. Chainsaw Man Chapter 162's title, "Fearsome," perfectly highlights the intense action that takes place at the climax of Asa and Fami's mission to save Chainsaw Man.
Chapter 161, "Chainsaw Man Puzzle," concluded with Quanxi having been called on by Devil Hunter Takagi to bring down Asa and Fami's group and stop them from taking Denji's dismembered body from Public Safety. While other chapters have surprised fans by seeing the War Devil’s vessel solve their issues using peace instead of violence, Quanxi isn't the type to pull punches.

The Decemberists have announced a new double album, As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again, due out June 14th on the band’s label Yabb Records via Thirsty Tigers. To accompany the announcement, the band has also shared the 19-minute album closer “Joan in the Garden.”
As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again, the folk-rock act’s ninth album, marks the band’s return after a six-year hiatus. Teased by the recent single “Burial Ground” and split into four thematic sides, the double-lp also notably boasts guest appearances from The Shins’ James Mercer and Rem’s Mike Mill.

Contrasting the relative brevity and accessibility of “Burial Ground,” which serves as the album’s opener, “Joan in the Garden” arrives as an extended, multi-part epic. The song’s subject matter is fittingly grand, as the origins of the song derive from the story of Joan of Arc.

Malia Obama, 25, daughter of former President Barack Obama, just made her debut at the Sundance Film Festival with her short film The Heart.
Malia released her 18-minute short film at the festival. She is making a name for herself that goes beyond her title as former first daughter.
Malia is no stranger to the art of film production. She studied visual and environmental studies at Harvard University in addition to an internship with the Weinstein Company in 2017. After finishing her degree, she worked as a writer for an Amazon series titled Swarm. This show was created by Donald Glover, who also helped produce Obama’s short film.
“The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once,” Glover told GQ about the production of the short. “You’re Obama’s daughter. So if you make a bad film, it will follow you around.

Malia Obama stepped onto a red carpet last week for the first time, with good reason. The former first daughter hit Park City for the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her short film The Heart, an 18-minute directorial debut that snagged a spot in the U.S. short fiction films program of the 2024 edition. The premiere screening happened on the fest’s opening day, Jan. 18, and screened two more times over the weekend. Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham are to co-star in an as-yet untitled comedy series for Amazon Prime Video. Here are the details:
It’s been a huge year for West End star Hannah Waddingham.
Award-winning feel good comedy drama Ted Lasso, in which she starred alongside Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brenda’s Hunt and Phil Dunster, came to an end earlier this year after a hugely successful three season run.
Waddingham can also currently be seen in her Christmas special Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas on Apple TV, which sees her put on a concert at the London Coliseum.
An unashamed throwback to variety specials of yesteryear, Waddingham is joined by a variety of guests including several of her Ted Lasso co-stars, Leslie Odom Jr., Luke Evans, Sam Ryder and many more.
As reported by Deadline, Waddingham will also star alongside Octavia Spencer in an as yet untitled...
