The one major complaint from Hallmark lovers about the launch of Hallmark+ was that they couldn’t watch new movies on the streamer.
It appears that Hallmark fans are getting their wish. The feel-good entertainment company had been attempting to thread a particularly difficult needle with the rebranding of its subscription video-on-demand streaming service Hallmark+. In an effort to not upset their linear distribution partners, when Hallmark refreshed and relaunched its streamer, its library was highlighted by a handful of exciting original movies and series, built on the foundation of years of films that originally aired on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Mystery. However, what was noticeably lacking and increasingly frustrating to fans was that those channels’ new films were not available to stream on the service. Now, it appears that will change in the new year.

When Hallmark+ was announced in summer 2024, it was revealed that Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas movies would not be added to the app.
“‘Countdown to Christmas’ remains a linear experience,” Hallmark Media’s EVP of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly told Variety at the time.
She added, “The content on the app is going to be Holidazed, Mistletoe Murders, our unscripted shows and a couple of movie trilogies coming up that we haven’t announced yet. There’s going to be a bunch of holiday content, but it’s going to be separate and different from what’s on linear.”
Well, Hallmark is giving fans a special gift before Christmas by adding nearly all of this year’s new movies.
15 movies have already been added and there are 24 more movies being added on Friday (December 20).
Hallmark+ is available for $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Subscribers will also get Hallmark Store rewards for having a membership.

In the lovely tapestry of Following Yonder Star, we meet Abby Marshall, a television actress whose life once shone with the radiance of a flawless role. For fourteen seasons, she played the ideal mother on Guiding Grace, a character who comforted viewers in their tumultuous lives like a beacon of light.
Behind the façade, Abby struggles with a profound dissonance, a feeling of inadequacy that gnaws at her soul. When a public meltdown—caught on tape, of course—completes her fall from grace, she finds herself at a crossroads, not only in her job but also in her very identity.
Desperate to escape Hollywood’s constant scrutiny, Abby travels to the charming rural hamlet of Pine Ridge, Vermont. But fate, with its wicked humor, plays a trick on her: a misunderstanding about her hotel reservation leaves her stuck, a star without a stage. She meets Nick Maguire, the innkeeper, who...

You can overhear a lot of weird things walking through the park, but an excited, sudden exclamation of “What if it was a horde of rats?!” is definitely up there. Yet the reason, in this particular case, wasn’t an ominous one: It was part of the brainstorming process for the opening title sequence for Netflix’s recent (excellent) adaptation of “The Decameron.”
Mark Bashore and Katrina Crawford were the parkgoers in question and the creative directors of Plains of Yonder. The studio began as a design firm in Seattle and developed an Emmy-nominated knack for crafting opening titles for television series — something they say lots of people assume gets scripted by the writers on a given series, but in actuality, creative studios like theirs get brought in and work with the showrunners to execute. While the meaning of 2019's Vivarium movie is somewhat elusive, an examination of the overall plot and ending does shed considerable light on what director Lorcan Finnegan's film is actually about. The sci-fi film Vivarium, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots, focuses on the hellish suburbia that is the inescapable town of Yonder as the young couple is forced to raise an alien offspring. Lorcan Finnegan's sci-fi thriller tells the story of a young couple trapped in a frightfully uniform suburban neighborhood that quickly reveals itself to be a nightmare.
The Vivarium movie centers on gardener Tom (Jesse Eisenberg) and kindergarten teacher Gemma (Imogen Poots), a happily unmarried couple who are looking to become homeowners. This leads them to visit a deeply strange estate agent named Martin (Jonathan Aris), who makes lavish promises of the beauty and perfection of a newly built development named Yonder and coaxes them into...

Troubled Hollywood conglomerate Paramount Global is scaling back its wide-ranging partnership with Korean entertainment leader Cj Enm, Variety has learned.
The deal was initially struck in December 2021 (when Paramount Global was called ViacomCBS) and was described at the time as “a global content deal encompassing coproductions for original TV shows and films as well as content licensing and distribution across the companies’ streaming services.”
The Paramount+ streaming service, currently housed within the Cj Enm-controlled Tving streaming platform, is to become unavailable from June 19, Tving has informed subscribers. Paramount+ began operating on Tving, as a free-of-charge addition for existing subscribers, in June 2022.
“Tving and Paramount+ have decided not to renew their partnership,” a Paramount Global spokesperson confirmed to Variety.
“In line with our respective business strategies, we have decided together to end the ‘Paramount+ Branded Pavilion’ service on June 18th. Going forward, Tving will strive to secure various businesses to increase user satisfaction,...

Voice actor Billy West plays several of the lead characters on Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's 31st-century sitcom "Futurama." His voice for Fry, he has said, is essentially how he sounded when he was in his 20s. He also voices the elderly Professor Farnsworth, the incompetent lobster Dr. Zoidberg, the blow-hard Shatnerian space captain Zapp Brannigan, and the severed head of Richard Nixon. He's also played a wide variety of store clerks, alien slugs, terrifying robots, and North Pole elves in his tenure on "Futurama." There is nothing, it seems, he can't do.
It also takes a great deal of professionalism to be so silly. Voice actors, especially prolific ones, have to recall how dozens of characters sound in a split second, able to call up whatever voices a scene needs. In West's case, he likely has to have conversations with himself, using two or more unique voices in a single scene.

The fourth of four "Futurama" movies, "Into the Wild Green Yonder," came out on DVD in 2009, and it was assumed to be the final word on the series. "Futurama" would eventually return in the ensuing years, but for the moment, it looked like "Green Yonder" was the final appearance of the beloved sci-fi series. As such, the story was appropriately sprawling, involving an evil, unknowable, galaxy-wide force of evil in the universe -- the Dark Ones -- and their attempt to snuff out a mysterious new planet that just appeared out in space. The planet will later be revealed to be the egg of an Encyclopod, an outsize space-faring creature that catalogs and stores the DNA of all species in the galaxy.
At the end of "Yonder," Leo Wong (Billy West) aims to obliterate the violet dwarf star that hosts the Ecyclopod planet, as he wishes to build a galaxy-wide golf course.

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies reveals that only one of the upcoming specials is family-friendly, with the others being darker, genuinely weird, and containing scary and violent elements. The decision to take a dark turn in the specials is driven by nostalgia, targeting the adult audience who were viewers of the show when David Tennant originally starred in it. The Doctor Who specials will tap into childhood fears and draw on twisted themes out of childhood pleasures, creating a darker world that will be released at the end of the month.

Aiming to grow its global direct-to-consumer distribution, Paramount+ has set the international rollout plans for its premium and ad tier subscriptions following a launch across more than 45 markets last year.
The premium plan will launch in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico on Nov. 16, before bowing in additional markets at a later stage. Premium subscribers will also be able to tap into four concurrent streams, instead of the two streams that come with the standard plan.

Matt Groening's and David X. Cohen's animated sci-fi comedy series "Futurama" debuted on March 28, 1999. Only a few months earlier, on January 31, Seth McFarlane's animated sitcom "Family Guy" also premiered. They were both primetime animated sitcoms on the same network, and both were part of a wave of "Simpsons"-adjacent shows that tangled the airwaves for years. "Futurama" had the advantage over all the others, however, as it was co-developed by "Simpsons" creator Groening himself. 1999 also saw the release of the "Dilbert" animated series, "Home Movies" on the Upn, "Mission Hill" on the WB, and the stop-motion series "The PJs," as well as "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Batman Beyond," and "Ed, Edd n Eddy." It was a banner year.
As such, "Futurama" and "Family Guy" were often mentioned as a unit in conversations. Many fans of one watched the other, even though one was a sci-fi slapstick program and the other was a crass,...

Streaming services Paramount+ and Tving have greenlighted two new jointly-developed Korean TV series. They are the product of an ongoing relationship between parent companies Paramount Global and Korea’s Cj Enm.

The Pink Ladies of “Grease,” the most colorful Rydell High students, are back on April 6 on Paramount+. However, this won’t be the same collection of young women from the original film — or even its cult classic sequel. This round, we see how the popular clique got its start. The girls now have a show of their own: “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” a salute to 1950s teens who refuse to conform to conventional standards. The new musical series shows us Rydell High before Sandy and Danny start strutting down the halls. The show stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara.

Exec says half of Paramount+’s growth is from international market.
Marco Nobili, the head of Paramount+ international has underlined the streamer will continue investing in international projects despite a strong focus on producing major franchises such as Yellowstone, Star Trek and Dexter.
Paramount+, which launched in March 2021, is now streaming in 45 countries after a global roll-out last year and has 56 million subscribers.
Nobili said streaming is “a game that needs to be played at scale,” noting the bigger the scale, the more revenues are generated and the more that can be invested in infrastructure and programming.

Paramount+ is well ahead of its target to greenlight 150 non-u.S. originals by 2025 but international boss Marco Nobili wishes the streamer could have rolled out quicker.
Addressing Series Mania this afternoon, Nobili said “if I could have accelerated our rollout then I would have” when questioned on how he would have done things differently over the past two years.
“But you have to balance these things out,” he countered. “Sometimes staggering a launch proves to be the right recipe. If you show audiences the window you can get straight out the gate but could compromise on show quality.”
Nobili added: “We could maybe have done an even faster rollout but looking back it was a challenge and we are proud of how it has worked out.”
Paramount+ is now live in dozens of territories around the world and is well ahead of its target to greenlight 150 originals by 2025, Nobili revealed.
