Black Clover manga has a lot of chapters under its belt. It has over 370+ chapters published in 36 volumes as of writing this article. And yet, author Yuki Tabata still thought he could pump out more stories in mediums apart from manga.

Fans eagerly anticipated the first theatrical film, “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,” which debuted in 2023. It was the first animated content in a long time since the anime’s conclusion in March 2021.

While commenting on the 1st trailer for Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, the mangaka informed fans that it is an original story created just for the film, featuring a former Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom.

“Resilience” is a powerful theme that resonates deeply with the Shonen fans. The concept of a protagonist battered and bruised, but still standing up to fight another day, is firmly infused into the genre’s structure. While many series explore this concept, few manage to do it as effectively as Yūki Tabata’s Black Clover.

Yūki Tabata captured this notion perfectly with Asta; the protagonist who never gives up. On the other hand, Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia makes an effort to portray a similar theme via its protagonist, Izuku Midoriya (Deku), but never quite hits the mark with the same impact.

Soon readers of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump will no longer get to check out new chapters of Yūki Tabata's Black Clover.

According to Hitc, the popular manga series will leave the well-known shōnen magazine after the publication of Chapter 368, which has leaked online. Going forward, Black Clover will be serialized in Jump Giga, Weekly Shōnen Jump's sister publication. This move greatly impacts how many new chapters of Black Clover will debut each year; while Weekly Shōnen Jump drops issues on a weekly basis, Jump Giga uses a quarterly release schedule, meaning there is a three-month break between issues.

Black Clover made its premiere in February 2015 and so far, Tabata's fantasy adventure series has produced 35 volumes worth of content so far. Set in a world where magical talents are the norm, the story focuses on a young boy named Asta.

2023 isn't over, and some highly anticipated anime movies will soon make their grand entrance. Anime movies, especially the ones based on existing series, have changed the pace of storytelling for the better. There weren’t too many surprises in Netflix’s Top 10 chart for the week of June 19 with Chris Hemsworth‘s action sequel “Extraction 2” holding strong and Charlie Brooker‘s “Black Mirror” Season 6 taking over the TV chart. Hemsworth held the Top 2 spots with “Extraction 2” and the original “Extraction,” which had 42.2 million views and 13.8 million, respectively. “Extraction 2” had 87.3 million hours viewed just this week, which should eventually get it into Netflix’s most-watched list along with the original “Extraction.” It was the #1 most-watched film in over 85 territories.

And for the second week in a row, Chris Hemsworth has dominated the top two spots on the English Films List. “Extraction 2” currently sits at the No. 1 spot with 42.2 million views, making it the most-watched title on Netflix this week. Its predecessor, “Extraction,” wasn’t far behind with 13.8 million viewers, securing the No. 2 spot on its list. In fact, the “Extraction” franchise has seen 108.4 million views since June 12 — four days before the sequel premiered on the streaming service — which makes it the first film franchise to hold the top two sports for two weeks in a row.

It would be more correct to say that Sword of the Wizard King is a standalone story that doesn't affect future events in the manga, but that does not mean that there are no tie-ins.

In the movie's first scene, Asta is unable to participate in a tournament since he's been exiled as a result of events in chapter #219. He manages to take part, however, by registering with a false name and wearing a mask. While this is a direct tie-in to the manga,...

The streaming heavyweight just topped Whip Media’s latest movie ranker, with “Extraction 2” being the most-streamed movie in the U.S. last weekend. And for good measure, Netflix grabbed the second spot as well, thanks to “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.”

Netflix has more subscribers than any other streaming service, which gives it a leg up whenever it releases a movie. But the streamer was in a slight funk recently, with the company going five weeks in a row without having one of its movies top Whip Media’s ranker, its longest drought of 2023. Whip Media’s ranker is based on data from TV Time, its TV and movie tracking app with 26 million global registered users.

It was little surprise that the Chris Hemsworth action-sequel “Extraction 2” would lead Netflix’s Top 10 chart for the week of June 12, but the original “Extraction” ended up taking second place as viewers that missed it caught up before watching its sequel. Read on for this week’s analysis, noting that Netflix has begun focusing more on total views for many of their films and series, rather than just hours viewed.

“Extraction 2” scored 42.8 million views worldwide since debuting on the streamer on Friday, June 16, or 88.4 million hours viewed, as the #1 most-viewed film in 88 of the 93 countries where it entered the Top 10. Ireland was the only primarily English-speaking country that had a different movie watched the most, and that was “Paw Patrol: The Movie.”

The original “Extraction” from 2020 scored 9.6 million views for 18.8 million viewing hours, while “Paw Patrol” was watched 6.6 million times or 9.4 million hours. Even less of a surprise...

After three weeks of PVOD play, “John Wick: Chapter 4” (now $5.99) returns to #1 on two of the three leading top ten charts with the lower price. Lionsgate delayed home availability for an unusual two months for this hit theatrical release, thus making an earlier than usual reduction of price unsurprising. Nor is its return to #1 unexpected.

Vudu continues with the latest “Fast and Furious” franchise release — “Fast X” — at #1. It fell to #3 at iTunes, while almost certainly an error has resulted in it being nowhere currently on Google Play’s chart (it was #1 as recently as Saturday).

The appeal of action titles is also shown at both Netflix and elsewhere on the VOD charts. Netflix’s original film “Extraction 2” with Chris Hemsworth (and an added Idris Elba) is #1 there, with its 2020 predecessor #3. “Kandahar” (Open Road) with Gerard Butler in an Afghanistan rescue story, which grossed under $5 million in theaters...

Based on the Black Clover manga series by Yuki Tabata, “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King” is the latest entry in the franchise, with a story that takes place between episodes 157 and 158 of the anime.

As we creep towards summer, Netflix has a hot new list of fresh content, including the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the sophomore season of ‘Human Resources” and the highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror.”

Kicking off the start of the month on mega streamer are lots of family-friendly goodies like both “Nanny McPhee” and “Nanny McPhee Returns,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the “Angry Birds Movie.” But the adults won’t be left out of the conversation, as more mature flicks and series like “Jarhead,” “Funny People” and “We’re the Millers” are also hitting the platform this month.
