Peter Weller in RoboCop: Rogue City (2023)

FAQ

RoboCop: Rogue City

Yes. It takes place after Robocop 2, but before Robocop 3.

In a science fiction version of Detroit, during the late 1980s or early 1990s. As stated by writer Ed Neumeier during the RoboCop commentary, the one fantasy element of the film is RoboCop himself. Everything else in the game (with the exception of a certain video camera) is bound to those times. Worth noting is that RoboCop was very good at giving the feeling that in spite of how bound it is to its time, the events could be occurring at any time, in any place.

A first-person shooter with investigative, RPG and experience based self enhancement elements. Cutscenes aside, everything is seen from RoboCop's point of view.

From reading the voice credits, it appears that the only person from the original cast performing voice work in this game is Peter Weller. This is as much because of a lack of opportunity as it is other cast members declining. Dan O'Herlihy, the actor who played The Old Man, died in 2005. Robert DoQui, who played Sergeant Reed, died in 2008.

The designers had very limited options in how to make the game challenging and engaging. So Robocop takes damage more easily than he does in the films.

Yes. However, the game is mainly told from Robocop's perspective. So it wouldn't make sense to randomly cut to the satirical news reports or commercials throughout the game. So this element somewhat takes a back seat in the game.
