The cast of Letterkenny expressed bittersweet emotions about the show ending, reflecting on the friendships they made and feeling proud of their work. The show became a cultural landmark, along with such other Canadian comedies as Kim's Convenience and Schitt's Creek, and has had a significant impact during its 12-season run. Although the show has ended, there are possibilities for spinoffs and future appearances by favorite characters, as the storylines were left open-ended in the final season.

Based on the hit podcast, Prime Video debuted the Amazon Original series “The Horror of Dolores Roach” this past July, and we’ve learned the series has been cancelled.

After just one season, “The Horror of Dolores Roach” is no more at Prime Video.

The eight-episode, half-hour series is a contemporary Sweeney Todd-inspired tale, a macabre urban legend of love, betrayal, weed, gentrification, cannibalism, and survival of the fittest.

In the series, “Dolores Roach is released from prison after 16 years and returns to a severely gentrified Washington Heights with $200 and the clothes on her back. Her boyfriend missing, her family long gone, Dolores reunites with an old stoner buddy, Luis, who gives her room and board and lets her give massages for cash in the basement under his dilapidated storefront, Empanada Loca, the only remnant of her former life.

The CBC original comedy Run the Burbs makes its U.S. debut on The CW on July 31, 2023. The half-hour comedy created by comedian, writer, and actor Andrew Phung (Kim’s Convenience) and his best friend, filmmaker Scott Townend (The Secret Marathon), first aired on CBC in 2022. The CW picked it up to help fill its summer primetime lineup, settling the comedy into the Mondays at 8:30pm Et/Pt timeslot immediately following episodes of Son of a Critch.

Season one episode one, “Blockbuster,” introduces the Pham family and their colorful assortment of neighbors and friends. Co-creator/executive producer Andrew Phung stars as Andrew Pham, Rahkee Morzaria (What We Do in the Shadows) is Camille, Zoriah Wong (Nancy Drew) stars as Khia, and Roman Pesino (Odd Squad) is Leo. Simu Liu is a rising star in the entertainment industry, known for his remarkable talent, charismatic presence, and advocacy for representation in Hollywood. Born in Harbin, China, and raised in Canada, Liu began his acting journey in various television and film projects. He gained widespread recognition for portraying Jung Kim in the popular Canadian sitcom Kim's Convenience (2016-2021). In just a few short years, Simu Liu has gone from Canadian sitcom actor to international movie star.

Despite how big his fame grows or how many achievement he racks up in Hollywood, for Canadians, he’ll always be ours. In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, let’s run down just a few of the many reasons everyone loves Simu Liu.

1. He Manifested His Own Destiny

It’s not everyone who can make a dream come true with a simple tweet, yet Simu Liu made it happen. Way back in 2014, before he was even cast in his breakout role in “Kim’s Convenience”, Simu Liu issued a tweet targeting Marvel, asking when the studio was going to get around to introducing a superhero of Asian descent. Five years later, he was announced as the star of Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.

The Weeknd and his album Dawn FM have emerged with a field-leading six nominations for the 2023 Juno music awards, Canada’s version of the Grammys.

The Canadian pop star who penned “Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” for Avatar: The Way of Water, will compete for best artist, best pop album, Juno Fan Choice award, best single for “Sacrifice,” best album and best songwriter. The Weeknd’s participation in the Junos, with Dawn FM put into contention, also comes as he continues to snub the Grammys stateside.

Avril Lavigne and fellow Canadian songstress Tate McRae each nabbed five nods, while Preston Pablo and The Reklaws came away with three nominations each.

Nominations for the Junos were unveiled during a press conference in Toronto on Tuesday. The Juno Fan Choice competition will see Lavigne, Lauren Spencer-Smith, Pablo, Reve and Shawn Mendes compete against McRae, The Reklaws, Tyler Shaw and The Weeknd.

Ten movie projects have been shortlisted for the Ffilm Cymru Wales/Film Wales’ Cinematic development and production scheme.

This year, nominated features include Nuclear by Cannes award-winning director Catherine Linstrum (California Dreamin’) and Sorted by former Raindance entrant Keri Collins (Convenience).

The programme, for films with budgets up to £300k, is financed in partnership with the BFI and S4C with additional support from Fields Park Entertainment and Warner Music Supervision.

Shortlisted film teams will now receive input from industry professionals including producers Julie Baines (Creep) and Emily Leo (Under the Shadow) as well as director Ben Parker (The Chamber), alongside sales and distribution representatives such as Jezz Vernon, formerly of Metrodome, and Deborah Rowland.

Three selected films will then be made over the next 18 months.

New distribution outfit B-Attitude Films has announced that its BAFTA Cymru Award-winning film Convenience is to be released in UK cinemas on Oct 2 and on demand/DVD on Oct 5.

The comedy heist film is directed by former Screen Star of Tomorrow Keri Collins.

Produced by Ray Panthaki and written by Simon Fantauzzo, Convenience stars Vicky McClure (This Is England), Adeel Akhtar (The Dictator), Ray Panthaki (28 Days Later), Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and Verne Troyer (Austin Powers).

The buddy comedy heist movie follows two convenience store robbers who bungle the crime and end up working there for the rest of the night.

Collins won the BAFTA Cymru Breakthrough Award for Convenience last October.

Screen Star of Tomorrow awarded at British Academy Cymru Awards.

Screen International 2014 Star of Tomorrow Keri Collins won the Breakthrough Award for his film Convenience at the 23rd British Academy Cymru Awards held on Oct 26.

Convenience, a crime comedy starring BAFTA award-winner Vicky McClure (This is England), was also a Raindance 2013 official selection. The film follows two best friends as they attempt to rob a petrol station to clear a debt owned to Russian strip club owners.

In all, 28 programme, craft and performance categories were awarded at this year’s ceremony, honouring excellence in broadcasting and production within Film and Television in Wales between April 2013 and March 2014.

UK sales outfit Moviehouse has added sales titles Convenience and gangster film Hackney’s Finest to its Cannes lineup.

Raindance title Convenience stars Ray Panthaki, Vicky McClure, Adeel Akhtar and Verne Troyer in the story of best friends who attempt to rob a petrol station to clear a debt owed to a couple of Russian gangsters.

Comic crime-thriller Hackney’s Finest depicts a drug-fuelled night of mayhem in East London. The UK’s Rickety Shack Films produces.

The deal was negotiated by producer Arin Alldridge of Rickety Shack Films and Moviehouse Entertainment’s Mark Vennis.

Hackney’s Finest is the first feature from director Chris Bouchard and will world premiere at London’s East End Film Festival.

Julian Assange has joined the jury of the 21st Raindance Film Festival (Sept 25 - Oct 6), a London-based event that celebrates independent film in the UK and around the world.

The appointment is a controversial one. The Australian editor-in-chief and founder of WikiLeaks took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning about sexual assault allegations.

It is understood that he fears Sweden would extradite him to the Us, where he believes he is wanted in relation to WikiLeaks’ disclosure of a significant amount of classified Us military and diplomatic documents.
