Gwyneth Paltrow is explaining how she famously “forgot” she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Gwyneth has been a part of the MCU for decades, portraying Pepper Potts in the Iron Man and Avengers films.

If you don’t remember, back in 2019, she appeared on her Iron Man co-star Jon Favreau‘s series The Chef Show alongside celebrity chef Roy Choi.

“Remember we were in Spider-Man?” Jon said.

“We’re weren’t in Spider-Man,” she responded.

“Yes, we were… You were in Spider-Man,” he argued, with Roy adding “Homecoming.”

“No…I was in Avengers,” she went on to say. The exchange continued for a while until she finally realized she was, in fact, in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Now, she’s explaining how that possibly could happen.

Marvel Studios' next MCU movie, Thunderbolts*, arrives in theaters in less than two months, and promotion is starting to kick up a few gears.

Brian McGreevy is the author who wrote the novel Hemlock Grove, then worked with Lee Shipman and Eli Roth to develop the concept into a television series that ran on the Netflix streaming service for three seasons and a total of 33 episodes. McGreevy went on to co-create the Western TV series The Son, which ran on AMC for two seasons, a total of 20 episodes. Now, Deadline reports that McGreevy is set to make his feature directorial debut with a psychological thriller called The Technique – and he has assembled a solid cast to bring the story’s characters to life. That cast includes Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Ben Platt (Theater Camp), Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Spider-Man’s first Marvel Studios movie was aptly named Spider-Man: Homecoming because that’s exactly what it felt like. While popular Marvel characters like Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and Iron Man were all in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker was still under the Sony umbrella. Earlier this week, the news broke that Sadie Sink has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4. Despite initial reports about the Stranger Things star suiting up as Jean Grey, we've since heard she's playing Mary Jane Watson.

Spider-Man: Homecoming introduced Zendaya's Mj, with Spider-Man: No Way Home revealing that her full name is Michelle Jones Watson. Throwing the "real" Mj into the mix is an intriguing decision and one that's drawn a mixed response from fans.

Taking to Instagram, Sink has broken her silence on her reported casting by sharing an X post from a fan who jokingly suggested that she'll play Spider-Man 4's Uncle Ben.

Kelsey Asbille (Don’t Move), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”), Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) are set to star.

McGreevy also wrote the script, although plot details are being kept under wraps.

There are fewer spectacles more worthy of the big screen than those which come from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sheer scale and grandeur of the MCU films have captivated audiences for the better part of two decades, bringing the most ambitious events from the pages of the Marvel Comics to life in thrilling sequences, complete with non-stop action and impressive visuals.

An MCU film manages to captivate you completely with its world and characters. For a moment, you forget that people can't really turn big and green or summon a magical hammer with the power to control thunder. The superhero fantasy is brought to life ever so slightly, and everything seems so real... until a bad CGI moment comes and completely takes you out of the experience.

More and more of these immersion-breaking scenes made their way onto the big screen (and the small one too!) as the MCU grew over the years.

The Stranger Things actress has time on her hands after wrapping up production on the fifth and final season of her Netflix hit. The plot for the fourth Spider-Man is being kept under wraps, with the last film, No Way Home, ending with the world forgetting that teenager Peter Parker was Spider-Man, including Mj (Zendaya). It is unclear who Sink will play in the film.

Netflix brings Kraven the Hunter to your home this Thursday. Allow him to enter at your own risk, as this appears to be the film that killed not only Spider-Man but also the non-Spider-Man Spider-Verse.

Sony's Spider-Man films were, on the whole, a pretty solid group. They got much better once they finally accepted assistance from Marvel Studios, beginning with Spider-Man: Homecoming. But those Spider-verse movies without Spidey? I mean, the first Venom was okay, but after that? Yeesh. And they got yeeshier as they went along.

Let me put it this way. The reputation of these movies is so bad that Netflix has been essentially dumping them onto their schedule. Venom: The Last Dance debuted on February 25th with little advance notice at all. The streaming giant did the same with Madame Web nearly a year ago, on May 14th. Both films performed much better on streaming than they did at movie theaters.

Despite only having a total of six appearances in the MCU to date, Spider-Man quickly won the hearts of many fans who had been waiting several years for him to appear onscreen alongside the likes of the Avengers. Any worries that he might not have embodied the spirit of the quip-hurling webslinger from the comics were quickly reassured by Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker and his alter ego. The Spider-Man of the MCU captures the kindness, intelligence, and heroism of the comic version in more ways than one. However, the best way has to be his dialogue.

"That's a very good question. I'm wondering the same. But I get a feeling it might not be the last time you see the Shocker."

Woodbine was also asked if there was ever any talk of him donning a more comic-accurate costume.

"We discussed it," he reveals. "It wasn't right or appropriate for that first one. But who knows, down the line, [we can get] a little bit closer to the original suit.

Robert Downey Jr. will re-join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the all-powerful villain Doctor Doom, but he's still grateful for his time as the hero Tony Stark. Downey recently reflected on what his time as the character taught him.

Screen Rant reported that at one of this year's SXSW panels, Downey talked about being grateful for the role as Marvel's Iron Man. "17 years I've been associated with this iconic superhero...," he said. "It’s the message he represents that I'm grateful for. Tony Stark opened my eyes wider to the power technology has to impact the world for good, and that's something I'll carry for the rest of my life."

Iron Man was released in 2008 as the very first film in the MCU. It was directed by Jon Favreau, with Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow co-starring alongside Downey. The movie launched the MCU, grossing over $585 million and picking up two Academy Award nominations.

Spider-Man fans have been eating well in recent years, irrespective of the medium. From the cultural phenomena that was No Way Home to the Spider-Verse flicks and the Insomniac games, the hype-train for the next mainline entry in the MCU continues to be immense. However, the webhead’s involvement in the MCU isn’t just confined to Tom Holland’s friendly neighborhood, especially with the introduction of the multiverse.

Moving ahead, the cinematic giant’s slate includes five confirmed MCU projects that will witness the webhead in action, which will star another actor besides Tom Holland.

It won't be too long before Spider-Man is swinging his way back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the upcoming fourth Spidey installment in the Marvel Studios franchise has seen a number of evolutions through the past few months. There have been rumblings for several months that CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is the new owner of Avengers Tower. The building was sold way back in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, though Marvel Studios has waited until Thunderbolts* to reveal who bought it from Tony Stark.

The latest Thunderbolts* trailer confirmed that Val owns the building and that she's making some changes to it, adding a structure with a striking similarity to The Sentry's Watchtower on top.

Talking to Empire Online, filmmaker Jake Schreier confirmed Avengers Tower has now been renamed the "Watchtower" and teased, "We know what that tower means. Who’s the person you would least like to own that tower, that means so much to so many people? Can you use that as a symbol of things taking a darker turn?"

Part of that darker turn with be Val's man-made superhero The Sentry unleashing hell on New York City as The Void.

One of the biggest wins for the MCU is its star-studded cast. Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Iron Man was one of the reasons why the cinematic universe had a solid start. After more than a decade in the role, it became almost impossible to separate the actor from the character. Chris Evans as Captain America was similarly another perfect choice.

Evans brought heart and heroism to Steve Rogers and it made him irreplaceable in the character. Runaway Jury, one of the best legal thrillers based on a John Grisham novel, has entered Netflix's top 10. As we all know, the Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to save the best for last, just when everything appears to be said and done.
