Capcom revealed a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny , which is set to arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam sometime in 2025.  The English version of the trailer is age-restricted, but you can see the Japanese version below. Onimusha 2 first launched on PlayStation 2 back in 2002, this time pitting new protagonist Jubei Yagyu against the demonic army of Nobunaga Oda. Jubei was modeled after real-life actor Yusaku Matsuda, known for TV series and action films, including 1978's The Most Dangerous Game and 1979's The Resurrection of Golden Wolf , among many others.

Capcom has a double whammy of news for Onimusha fans after the reveal of Onimusha: Way of the Sword back in December. Not only has Capcom released a new video message from producer Akihito Kadowaki and director Satoru Nihei regarding the upcoming game, but Capcom has also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

According to Kadokwaki, Capcom is focusing on three core aspects for Way of the Sword: Compelling characters, which includes a new protagonist and foes that are more than just visually interesting; the setting of Kyoto; and what’s being referred to as “the ultimate sword fighting action”.

The trend of limited episodes in Netflix's anime releases can result in rushed endings and under-developed plot points. To improve its anime offerings, Netflix must prioritize quality over quantity, focusing on creating shows worth watching and remembering.

While Netflix has been actively acquiring and bankrolling anime, its tendency to release these "originals" with limited episodes ruins their potential and reputation. When the streaming service releases anime that are expected to be watched and finished in a few short hours, the impression it gives is that these shows are inconsequential filler. While this is not universal, it does beg the question of how Netflix perceives the anime industry.

Many of Netflix's new originals are broadcast with limited episodes. If a "short" anime in Japan usually consists of 12-13 episodes, Netflix's originals have run between 10 and a meager four.

Japanese director Miike Takashi, who is known for slasher film “Ichi the Killer” and stomach-churning “Audition,” has signed with CAA for representation.

Miike is one of Japan’s most prolific and bold directors, with more than 100 feature film credits, spanning genres, including horror, comedy and action. “Ichi The Killer” and “Audition” enjoy cult followings globally.

Netflix is releasing an anime adaptation of Capcom's famous video game series Onimusha. The official trailer for Onimusha is now out! The anime based on the video game series, known for its historical references combined with supernatural elements, will premiere on November 2, 2023. The story is primarily set in the Sengoku period of feudal Japan and follows the story of a samurai named Miyamoto Muashi, modeled after the legendary actor Toshiro Mifune who has starred in classics such as Seven Samurai and Throne of Blood.

Set to “The Loneliest” by Måneskin, the trailer doesn’t get into the demon-slaying that the video games are known for just yet, but that’s quickly rectified.

Unlike the Castlevania Netflix adaptations, Onimusha instead utilizes 3D animation with a cel-shaded art style from animation studio Sublimation and director Shinya Sugai, whose work includes the CG anime adaptation of another Capcom property, Dragon’s Dogma.
