Neon is kicking off the year with an ultra creepy teaser for a mysterious horror movie on their 2024 slate, and we’re excited to share that eerie first look with you this morning.

The catch? We don’t actually know what movie it’s from! Neon is being super secretive about the teaser video, but we can at least present you with a list of strong guesses.

Neon currently has three horror movies in their 2024 lineup, including the Hunter Schafer-starring Cuckoo, which also stars Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick. Directed by Tilman Singer (Luz), the movie has been shrouded in a bit of secrecy, with plot details under wraps.

Hunter Schafer reached a euphoric state while filming the upcoming music-centric feature “Mother Mary.”

The “Euphoria” breakout star has a supporting role in David Lowery’s upcoming drama, which follows a pop star (Anne Hathaway) who has a twisted romantic relationship with a fashion designer (Michaela Coel). Schafer plays Hilda, the personal assistant to Coel’s co-lead character. The film is billed as an epic pop melodrama and features original songs by Jack Antonoff and Charli Xcx. Kaia Gerber and Jessica Brown-Findlay also star.

Award-winning studio Neon has announced They Follow, the long awaited sequel to the modern horror classic It Follows (2014), from visionary writer/director David Robert Mitchell and starring Maika Monroe. Bloody Disgusting has learned that Monroe will reprise her role of Jay Height, which earned her an Empire Award® nomination for It Follows.

In the first movie, Monroe’s Jay Height is a young woman followed by an unknown supernatural force after a sexual encounter. In 2024, the threat is now Everywhere.

Neon’s new sales division led by Kristen Figeroid is launching worldwide sales at AFM this week on They Follow, David Robert Mitchell’s sequel to his 2014 cult horror It Follows, with Maika Monroe reprising her role.

Monroe returns as Jay Height, who in the original survived a supernatural curse transmitted by sexual contact. Neon CEO Tom Quinn distributed that film when he led RADiUS and it grossed approximately $15m in North America.

In its first acquisition at the Cannes Film Festival, Neon has picked up North American rights to director Pablo Berger’s animated feature “Robot Dreams” ahead of its world premiere in Cannes on Saturday.

The Spanish filmmaker of “Blancanieves” based his first animated feature on the award-winning graphic novel by Sara Varon. “Robot Dreams” screens Saturday in the Special Screenings section of the festival.

After nearly 10 years on the platform, all seven seasons of the Zooey Deschanel-starring Fox comedy are exiting the platform on Sunday.

But fans will soon be able to reunite with Deschanel’s Jess, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and more on April 17 when New Girl starts streaming on Hulu and Peacock.

Later in the month, Netflix subscribers will lose access to Alex Gibney’s Julian Assange documentary We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks and Bill Nye: Science Guy, which follows the beloved children’s television host as he takes on the anti-science movement, including those who deny climate change and evolution.

Chris Sussman, previously director of U.K. scripted for Netflix, has signed a first look deal with Banijay U.K. to develop original scripted projects.

The deal was struck with Banijay U.K. CEO Patrick Holland. It is part of the recently revealed £50 million ($59.3 million) Banijay U.K. Growth Fund which enables the group to partner with high profile talent, as well as investing in new businesses, to enhance growth.

Cannes — Top European powerhouse Studiocanal has renewed its global deal with Nickelodeon which will board Season 3 of CG animated megahit “The Adventures of Paddington.”

Marking most surely one of the biggest single title content deals unveiled at this year’s Mipcom, the Nickelodeon renewal for Season 3 comes as Studiocanal has also unveiled a slew of second-window deals on Season 1 after the title’s hugely successful global rollout overseen, like Season 2, by Nickelodeon. It comes, moreover, just months after Studiocanal announced in June that Dougal Wilson is attached to direct “Paddington” 3, the third feature film in the franchise.

Bengaluru, Sep 21 (Ians) Audio content platform Kuku FM on Wednesday said it has raised 21.8 million in Series B1 funding round, led by The Fundamentum Partnership, which will be utilised to strengthen content creation ecosystem and offer more language choices to listeners.

Neon has acquired North American and UK rights to the horror-drama Handling the Undead, marking the narrative feature debut of Thea Hvistendahl, who previously directed the documentary Adjø Montebello and several short films, including the SXSW Grand Jury Award-nominated Virgins4lyfe. The project reteams the distributor with Renate Reinsve and Anders Danielsen Lie, who starred in its Oscar-nominated romantic drama The Worst Person in the World, directed by Joachim Trier.

Handling the Undead picks up on an abnormally hot summer day in Oslo, as a strange electric field surrounds the city, with a collective migraine spreading across town. TVs, lightbulbs and electronics go haywire, the chaos reaching a debilitating crescendo when suddenly, it’s over.

The film currently in production is based on the novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, the renowned writer of bestselling horror novels and the screenplays Border and Let the Right One In, who co-wrote the script with Hvistendahl.

Neon has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Park Chan-wook’s award-winning title Oldboy. Neon is planning a theatrical release in celebration of the pic’s 20th anniversary.

The movie follows Oh Dae-Su (Choi Min-sik), who after being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, is released, only to find that he must find his captor in five days. The 2004 Grand Prix winning Cannes Film Festival title is the second installment of Park’s The Vengeance Trilogy, following Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and preceded by Lady Vengeance (2005).

Chan-wook also wrote the screenplay alongside Hwang Jo-yun and Lim Joon-hyung. The pic also starred Yoo Ji-tae, and Kang Hye-jung. The pic was a huge hit in South Korea with Box Office Mojo reporting a global gross of 15M. Since Oldboy‘s release in 2003, the film has been restored and remastered in 4K Hdr supervised by Park. The pic spawned a 2013 English-language remake from Spike Lee.

Suretone Pictures and Lionsgate will co-finance “Creepers,” an adventure-horror film adaptation of author David Morrell’s book of the same name. Morrell is previously best known for writing “First Blood,” which kicked off the “Rambo” franchise.

Marc Klasfeld, a music video and commercial director, will make his feature directorial debut adapting the novel “Creepers.” He worked on the screenplay with a team of writers over the last four years.

“Creepers” is the story of a group of young urban explorers who, while investigating an old, boarded up, seemingly abandoned hotel, encounter danger at every turn. A competing group of hostile urban explorers are seeking a legendary hidden treasure, and a supernatural being begins wreaking havoc on them all.

Casting is underway from casting directors Mary Vernieu and Raylin Sabo. The film will shoot later this month in Bulgaria.

Zendaya is eying her next project: directing an episode of “Euphoria.”

The Emmy winner told Vogue Italia that she was actually supposed to helm Season 2, Episode 6, titled “A Thousand Little Trees of Blood,” for the hit HBO series. However, she didn’t have enough time to prepare as she was also acting in the episode.

“It’s funny. I was actually supposed to direct episode 6, but then I had to act in it,” Zendaya explained. “I didn’t have enough time, so unfortunately, I wasn’t able to this time around. I wanted to have enough time to do it the right way. So, next season probably.”

She certainly has had plenty of inspiration working with “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson on pandemic feature film “Malcolm & Marie,” as well as collaborating with Denis Villeneuve for “Dune” and its sequel “Dune: Part Two.” The actress is teaming up with Luca Guadagnino...

Neon has wrapped production on Tilman Singer’s Cuckoo, the feature film debut of Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). The horror film, written and directed by Singer, was shot on 35mm in Germany.

With plot details being kept under wraps, post-production is currently underway for the film’s 2023 release. Following his 2018 debut Luz, Singer became one of the most sought-after up-and-coming filmmakers. Lauded as a “major new talent” in cinema, Singer has been critically acclaimed for his genre-bending storytelling and wholly unique approach to horror.

The ensemble cast, led by Schafer, includes Dan Stevens, along with Jessica Henwick, Marton Csókás, and Greta Fernández.

Cuckoo reunites Singer with Luz lead actor Jan Bluthardt, as well as cinematographer Paul Faltz and production designer Dario Mendez Acosta. Simon Waskow will also return as composer and Henning Hein as sound designer.

Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick have jumped on board writer-director Tilman Singer’s horror pic Cuckoo for Neon, which has just wrapped shooting in Germany. The project is led by Euphoria star Hunter Schafer, with Gemma Chan, Marton Csókás, Greta Fernández and Sofia Boutella also starring. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, while post-production gets underway ahead of the film’s 2023 release. Cuckoo is Singer’s sophomore feature after his supernatural horror film Luz. Neon continues to keep a tight lid on plot details for the movie, which was first announced in 2021 with sparse detail except for the fact that it’s a horror. A release is set for 2023.

“Cuckoo’s” ensemble cast is led by Schafer, and includes Stevens, Henwick, Marton Csókás, Jan Bluthardt and Greta Fernández. John Malkovich and Gemma Chan were previously attached to the pic, but dropped out due to timing issues, Variety has confirmed.

“Cuckoo” reunites Singer with “Luz” lead actor Bluthardt, as well as cinematographer Paul Faltz and production designer Dario Mendez Acosta. Simon Waskow will also return as composer and Henning Hein as sound designer.

Principal photography has wrapped on “Cuckoo,” a horror movie set for distribution from Neon and starring “Euphoria” breakout Hunter Schafer. The film has added both Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick to its cast.

When “Cuckoo” was originally announced in August last year, the film was meant to star John Malkovich, Gemma Chan and Sofia Boutella all alongside Schafer. But an individual with knowledge of the project says that due to timing issues, the final cast now includes Schafer, Stevens, Henwick, Marton Csókás, Jan Bluthardt and Greta Fernández.
