DefTone Pictures Studios Inc. and Origin Releasing have announced the release of Not Human (formerly known as Ombis: Alien Invasion), which is directed by Adam R. Steigert, and stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, Sara Manzella along with co-stars Kathy Murphy, Alexander Sloan McBryde, Brenda Rickert and Aryn Fitzgerald.

The film hits VOD next week – September 9th to be precise, before hitting retail markets in December.

New Artwork Unveiled for Adam R. Steigert's Not Human
Back in January 2012 we got the first word on Ombis, which then became Ombis: Alien Invasion and is now known as Not Human. After some false starts, the film is finally arriving on VOD and DVD, and it's gotten some new artwork to celebrate.

The film was directed by Adam R. Steigert and written by Steigert, Janeen Avery, Terry Kimmel, Mark Mendola, and Michael Sciabarrasi. Not Human stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, and Sara Manzella along with Kathy Murphy, Alexander Sloan McBryde, Brenda Rickert, and Aryn Fitzgerald.

Ombis is a film we've talked about quite a bit around these parts, and with its fall release approaching, DefTone Pictures Studios and Origin Releasing have given it the title of Not Human along with sending over updated artwork and two new trailers.

We've been talking about Adam Steigert's horror/sci-fi opus Ombis for quite some time, and now we have some good news to share as the film has landed a distribution deal with Phoenix Group Releasing.

From the Press Release:

DefTone Pictures Studios, Inc., has signed a distribution deal with Phoenix Group Releasing to release upcoming science fiction/horror film Ombis. Ombis is directed by Adam R. Steigert and stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, Sara Manzella, Michael Sciabarrasi, Kathy Murphy, and Alexander Sloan Mcbryde and introduces Rich Winiatowski and Aryn Fitzgerald.

Currently DefTone and Phoenix Group aren’t publishing a release date for the film; however, they are in talks to release it domestically and to the foreign market in the middle of 2013. DefTone Pictures Studios Announces New Short Film To Release a Soul
Last night we posted the new trailer for DefTone Pictures Studios' horror/sci-fi throwback Ombis, and now that production on that project is ending, Dps has already lined up its next one: a short film written by and starring Ombis actor Jason John Beebe entitled To Release a Soul.

All we know so far is that the film also stars model Meylssa Jade in her first lead film role, and Adam R. Steigert (Ombis, Black Guy on a Rampage) has confirmed he will be directing the short, which will be filming in September of this year. To Release a Soul is a character study of the interaction between a serial killer and his intended victim and what motivates each of them.

The target release date is March 30th, 2013, so you can expect to see more over the coming months both here and on the official DefTone Pictures Studios website.

Lynn Lowry Joins the Cast of DefTone Pictures Studios' Ombis
A bit of casting news has come in for DefTone Pictures Studios' upcoming feature film Ombis along with our first good look at the "Mutant". In addition, just for fun, we have a photo of the legendary Lloyd Kaufman meeting up with the Ombis gang.

Cult actress Lynn Lowry (pictured right) has signed on for a cameo in the upcoming feature film Ombis. Ms. Lowry has appeared in such films as Paul Schrader’s Cat People (1982) and George A. Romero’s The Crazies (1973). Lynn will be playing a vital role in the conclusion of the sci-fi/horror flick.

New Trailer for Ombis; Interview with Special Effects Artist Phill Beith
Production on Ombis is in full swing, and there's lots of new stuff to share: Teaser Trailer #2, a video interview with makeup FX artist Phill Beith, and a photo from The Buffalo Comic & Pop Culture Con with John Amplas, star of George A. Romero’s Martin, Creepshow, and Dawn of the Dead.

Ombis is currently a quarter of the way through filming, and the cast and crew have been traveling around the Western New York area gathering interest in the film, which is how they met up with Amplas, a particularly special encounter for the film's director Adam R. Steigert, as it was Romero's Dawn that inspired him to go into the film business.

Director Adam R. Steigert dropped us a line today and shared some new exclusive stills from Ombis, the 1950’s style alien invasion film he and DefTone Pictures Studios currently have in production.

Ombis is based on a short story by Steigert and was written by him, Janeen Avery, Mark Mendola, and Terry Kimmel. The cast features Richard Satterwhite (Sheriff Thomas Brackett), Sara Manzella (Lucy), Jason John Beebe (Mark), Melyssa Jade (Savannah), Alexander Sloan McBryde (Mr. Gray), and Richard Winiatowski (Nemesis).

DefTone Pictures Studios Announces an October Release Date for Caged
Buffalo, New York’s award-winning DefTone Pictures Studios has been busy this year. In addition to releasing controversial grindhouse series Black Guy on a Rampage and commencing its upcoming epic alien invasion film Ombis, they've announced a secret weapon: Caged.

Do you ever wonder how the first zombie is created? Caged promises to tell that story. Caged stars Robert Bozek (Slime City Massacre, The Final Night and Day) and Patrick Mallett (Black Guy on a Rampage, The Final Night and Day).
