Ruskin Bond’s first novel, ‘The Room on the Roof’, was published in 1956, and it received the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1957. Bond has authored more than 500 short stories, essays, and novels which includes 69 books for children.

Mumbai, Aug 14 (Ians) Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is known for his work in ‘Maqbool’, ‘Dev.D’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Black Friday’, ‘Delhi Crime’ and ‘Rocket Boys’, has started shooting for the third season of his streaming show ‘Undekhi’ in Manali.

The series depicts the two aspects of the society – the influential people who are drunk on power and think they can get away with anything, and the oppressed, subjected to years of torture, who finally decide to bring themselves to justice. The first season of the series began with the murder of a dancer during a wedding, the events leading up to which are captured in the camera of the wedding photography team.

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, who delivered the stellar ‘Jubilee’ earlier this year and is known for films like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Lootera’, is all set to helm two more projects, and both fall in the category of long-format content pieces.

The first project is a three-part docu-series titled ‘Indi(r)a’s Emergency’.

It will tell the story of one of the darkest chapters of India’s post-independence history – The Emergency which was imposed by the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi

Officially issued by President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed under Article 352 of the Constitution because of prevailing “internal disturbance”, the Emergency was in effect from June 25, 1975 and ended on March 21, 1977.

The docu-series will be narrated by Swanand Kirkire, and will feature a combination of archival footage and animation, bringing to life events that shook a nation.

Mumbai, July 5 (Ians) As the film ‘Lootera’ clocks 10 years of release in Hindi cinema, producer Ektaa R Kapoor says it surpassed all expectations and that it has become a timeless masterpiece even though the movie wasn’t considered as “quintessential entertainment”.

‘Lootera’ starring Ranveer Singh and Sonankshi Sinha is a period romance film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and the second half is based on author O. Henry’s 1907 short story ‘The Last Leaf’.

The film is based in the era of 1950s against the backdrop of the Zamindari Abolition Act by the newly independent India. It revolves around a young con man posing as an archaeologist and the daughter of a Bengali zamindar.

Speaking about ‘Lootera’, Ektaa said: “Ten years ago, when I made ‘Lootera,’ at that time, it wasn’t seen as quintessential entertainment. But I had a vision- a vision of a film that would steal everyone’s heart.

Mumbai, May 26 (Ians) Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is known for his work in ‘Black Friday’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Mirzapur’ and several others, has shared that his short film ‘Ghuspaith’ is a tribute to fearless, dedicated journalists like Danish Siddiqui, the 2018 Pulitzer Prize winner who documented the Rohingya refugee crisis.

The director, who has films like ‘Udaan’, ‘Lootera’, ‘Trapped’ and many more under his belt, told Ians: “Around the world and in India, films primarily have been a means to help reach a mass message to an audience. It’s one of the easiest ways to reach out to a large set of people. In recent times it has also expanded from movies to social media television and all other sorts of apps that we today have on our phones.”

Kashyap had read the script of “Mirage” before the film was made and was taken by it. This is the first time Kashyap has done a remake. “It is a nice, fascinating idea for me to delve into, I can’t come up with an idea like that,” Kashyap told Variety. “So I said, why not step outside my secure zone and attempt something.”

Mumbai, Nov 23 (Ians) Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is currently shooting for her forthcoming flick Bhoot Police in Himachal Pradesh. On Monday the actress teased fans by sharing a photograph of a bungalow located in Dalhousie where the film is being shot.

"Can you guess which film in the 90s was shot at this beautiful heritage home #BhootPolice," Yami posted on her verified Instagram account along with the photo of the bungalow.

Commenting on her post, many netizens correctly replied saying that Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1994 Anil Kapoor-Manisha Koirala film "1942: A Love Story" was shot in the same bungalow.

The bungalow seems to be a favourite shooting destination for B-Town filmmakers, as actor Vikrant Massey also recalled shooting for the 2013 film "Lootera" in the house.

Beginning in the salt pans of Kutch, Rashmi Rocket is about a young girl from a village, blessed with a gift – Speed. She’s an incredibly fast runner. The village fondly knows her as “Rocket”. When she gets a chance to showcase her talent professionally, she excels but also realizes that the race to the finish line is peppered with many hurdles, and what seems like an athletic contest turns into her personal battle for respect, honour, and even her very identity.

Rashmi Rocket is written by Nanda Periyasamy, Aniruddha Guha and Kanika Dhillon. The film will be helmed by Akarsh Khurana who directed Karwaan.

Los Angeles-based entities Legendary Global and Library Pictures have joined forces to co-finance and produce two seasons of an untitled, Hindi-language series Vikramaditya Motwane.

The pair did not reveal either a title or a log-line for the series. They described it only as a Hindi-language Ya dark comedy-drama series to be sold in India.

The series will be executive produced, written and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Abhay Koranne, who co-created the series with Motwane, will also serve as a writer. Motwane will also provide production services through his production company Andolan. He is represented by Creative Artists Agency.

Motwane is known for his raw cutting edge films. His first, “Udaan” appeared in Un Certain Regard category at Cannes in 2010, and earned him the best director and best film awards at India’s Screen Awards that year. He has since made “Lootera” and “Trapped,” which premiered at the 2016 Mumbai Film Festival.

Exclusive: In yet another sign of India’s growing appeal for the world’s content financiers, Chris Albrecht and Legendary’s TV venture Legendary Global is teaming with Library Pictures International to co-finance and produce two seasons of a Hindi-language series from Vikramaditya Motwane, creator of Netflix’s first Indian original Sacred Games.

The Ya dark comedy-drama will be executive produced, written and directed by former Phantom Films filmmaker Motwane, who is also known for directing Bollywood movies Trapped, Lootera and Udaan, which debuted at Cannes.

Motwane is considered one of India’s leading director-producers. After the second season of Netflix’s Sacred Games he partnered with Blumhouse to produce Ghoul, the three-part horror series which became the streamer’s second Indian original.

Abhay Koranne, who co-created the Ya series with Motwane, will also serve as a writer. The logline is being kept under wraps.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Thursday announced that he is starting a new company and working on a new film.

"New company, new film, new beginnings," Kashyap tweeted on Thursday, without elaborating any further.

Kashyap was one of the partners of the creative quartet Phantom Films along with Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl. The production company was dissolved last year after seven years of partnership.

Founded in 2011, Phantom Films produced films like Queen,?Masaan, Lootera?and Udta Punjab.

Kashyap recently became a mentor video-on-demand platform myNK to help curate and oversee content. It brings international arthouse films to Indian audiences.
