As late actor Sushant Singh Rajput would have turned 38 on Sunday, his then-girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty remembered him on his birth anniversary. Sushant died by suicide in 2020 in his residence in Juhu.

Rhea took to her Instagram stories and shared a picture of Sushant smiling.

The actress captioned it with a red heart emoji.

After the incident, Sushant’s father lodged a complaint against Rhea, accusing her of abetment of suicide. Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (Ncb) in a drugs case related to Sushant.

Sushant started his acting career with ‘Pavitra Rishta’. He made his Bollywood debut with ‘Kai Po Che’. He gained major stardom with his performance in ‘Ms Dhoni – The Untold Story’ and ‘Chhichhore’.

Mumbai, Feb 22 (Ians) Director Abhishek Kapoor, whose film ‘Kai Po Che’ completed 10 years on Wednesday, has shared that it took him four years to put the film together.

“It took me four years to bring ‘Kai Po Che’ to the audience. As a director, it was a challenging and fulfilling project. It was brilliant working with three new talents and there were multiple challenges when we made the film, but we braved them all,” Kapoor said.

Adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s 2008 novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, ‘Kai Po Che’ starred late Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.

The actor says that thanks to casting directors, more people are getting work now. He also adds that there are a lot of other changes in the industry that are making it a better workplace.

Mumbai, Feb 22: Actress Amrita Puri, who played late Sushant Singh Rajput's sister in Kai Po Che, on Monday recalled how getting the Aamdavadi accent right for her character Vidya Bhatt was her biggest challenge. The Abhishek Kapoor directorial was released eight years ago on this day.

Amrita said, "It was getting the Aamdavadi accent right (that was a challenge). I don't speak a word of Gujarati and I needed to sound authentic! I worked with a Gujarati diction coach. Also, during the dandiya sequence I had to get the steps bang on, because anyone who lives in Ahmedabad knows how to garba like a professional."

Mumbai, Feb 22 (Ians) Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor recalled working with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Monday. Kapoor had directed Sushant in Kai Po Che and the film, which was released eight years ago on this day, had marked the actor's debut in Bollywood.

Amrita Puri's debut Bollywood role in the 2010 release Aisha got her noticed, and although she has been applauded for her performances in films like Kai Po Che! and Judgementall Hai Kya since then, she has largely remains underrated.

Amrita has once again garnered positive reviews and audience applause for her role in the new web series, Jeet Ki Zid. Taking a pragmatic line, the actress says it is tough to find a balance between quality and quantity in the Hindi film industry.

"I think it is tough to maintain visibility with quality work. Quantity wise, it is possible. If we look at the kind of work that is out there, even on Ott platforms, most of the stories are male-centric, where the part of a female character is not quite unique and well written. So to find a space where you get to play a character that satisfies an actor like me is limited.

New Delhi, Nov 12 (Ians) Actor Abhishek Banerjee expressed shock on hearing about the death of Asif Basra on Thursday. Abhishek had worked with the late actor in the web series Paatal Lok.

Abhishek, who had also worked as a casting director for a while, roped in Basra in several projects including "Once Upon A Time In Mumbai" and "Knock Out".

"These were my early years in this industry,I had met him (Asif Basra) through my senior Gautam Kishanchandani. He had cast Asif ji in the film 'Black Friday'. And then we cast him in many advertisements, TVCs and recently in 'Paatal Lok'," Abhishek recalled while speaking to Ians.

"It is really sad. I have known Asif ji for many years and was fortunate enough to cast him in various projects. He was a great actor and a kind human (being). It's a sad loss for the industry.

Dharamsala, Nov 12 (Ians) Bollywood actor Asif Basra (53) allegedly committed suicide on Thursday at his palatial rented residence in this Himachal Pradesh town where he was staying for nearly four years, the police said.

He committed suicide by hanging himself with a leash of his pet dog, Superintendent of Police Vimukt Ranjan told Ians.

As per the police, just before the alleged suicide, he had returned from a stroll in the locality along with his dog.

No suicide note has been recovered.

It has been learnt that Basra, who was under depression, was staying here with a British woman.

Known for his character roles in films like 'Black Friday', 'Parzania', 'Jab We Met' and 'Kai Po Che', among many others, Basra was last seen in the Hotstar TV series 'Hostages'.
