Spike Feresten and Louis C.K. wrote this pilot in 1999 for C.K. to star in. CBS wanted to hear a table read of the script. According to C.K., he was so nervous during the table read for CBS that he ruined the chance of the pilot being produced. CBS became interested again in 2012 after C.K.'s success. The pilot was produced but not picked up for series.
