The Assignment

Edit
2013 Official Selection Montreal Student Film Festival.
2013 Official Selection New Hope Film Festival.
The Assignment (2012) was a non-profit student feature film produced through the University of Manitoba as part of its 2010-11 Film Production course, and the Professor of the course was screenwriter and author, George Toles.
At the 2013 New Hope Film Festival, The Assignment (2012) won the award for Best Adaptation, was nominated for the Danny Award for Best Picture, and was nominated for the Artistic Spirit Award. The winner of the Danny Award for Best Picture that year was David Mortin's Mad Ship (2013) starring Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Gil Bellows, Line Verndal, and Gage Munroe. Coincidentally, The Assignment (2012) and Mad Ship (2013) were both filmed in Winnipeg, Canada.
The Assignment (2012) is thus far the second of two feature film adaptations of Robert Cormier's novel "The Chocolate War" (1974). The first feature film adaptation was The Chocolate War (1988), directed by Keith Gordon and starring John Glover, Ilan Mitchell-Smith, Wallace Langham, and Doug Hutchison.
