A new trailer for Fire Force Season 3 was revealed today, announcing that the newest season of the anime will be airing in Japan on April 4, 2025, with Crunchyroll confirming that it will stream the series as it premieres. Gakuto Kajiwara, the Japanese-language voice actor behind main character Shinra Kusakabe, shared the new information in an IGN-exclusive video alongside the trailer, seen below. Shueisha has announced that Hiteishatachi no Aoharu na Kōkō Seikatsu (The Youthful High School Life of the Negators) will be released on April 4. Gizmodo interviewed several manga translators about the role's challenges, misconceptions and requirements, soliciting comments from those working on some of the biggest titles, including One Piece, Spy x Family and Undead Unluck. One of the biggest misconceptions was the pervasive idea that one translator, be it for anime, games or manga, is responsible for all decisions, some of which prove controversial or betray expectations. "Fans think it’s just like one shadowy person pulling the strings and making sure they don’t have a good time," David Evelyn said.

The official X account of the series announced on Feb 2, 2025, that a brand-new bonus chapter will be included in the manga’s final volume.

Tozuka himself shared a message with fans, thanking them for reading the final chapter. However, he admitted that it still doesn’t feel like he has truly finished the series yet, which is why he’s holding off on an afterword until the volume release.

While the world of anime features plenty of outstanding protagonists with sharp writing and personal depth, other anime protagonists don't go the distance. Some of the worst anime protagonists either have poor writing and ended up unlikable, or they were simply written to be generic self-inserts who have nothing interesting to say. At best, these iffy anime protagonists just go through the motions, and at worst, they say or do things to make the viewers actually dislike them or at least protest their actions.

Fortunately, some of these bad anime protagonists haven't finished their stories yet, so there is time for a course correction and make them more compelling in future seasons, should the anime studios see fit. In other cases, the story is done, and it's too late to actually change the weak protagonist. Anime fans, however, can still daydream about how to fix those characters and make them worth following in various adventures.

Official Blue Lock series artist Yusuke Nomura has taken to social media to hype up a brand-new manga coming to Weekly Shonen Jump, calling it and its own artist -- a well-known acquaintance of his -- 'scary.'

Embers is a new soccer-focused manga set to debut in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #10, written by Kei Kurumazagi and illustrated by Soutarou Nishii. The story will center on Haitani, a delinquent who is very good at fighting, and his introduction to soccer. Manga fans have been showing growing excitement for the title, as it is reminiscent of classics like Slam Dunk. Nomura, seeing some strong competition for Blue Lock in the newcomer, has joked that Nishii is "out to crush" Blue Lock. His good-natured support isn't all that surprising, given that Nishii was originally a staff member of Blue Lock's manga team and was responsible for many of the dynamic backgrounds.

Undead Unluck first debuted in the Fall 2023 anime season. Based on author Yoshifumi Tozuka's ongoing shonen manga of the same name, Undead Unluck is a wacky action story about Negators, or people born with the supernatural ability to negate certain rules of the universe. Such people are in direct defiance of God's laws, making Negators His enemy. This includes the two protagonists, Fuuko Izumo and an immortal man nicknamed Andy.

Undead Unluck 's story is intensely personal at the start, with Fuuko wishing to end her own life due to her Unluck's negative effects on her life, while Andy wishes to use her powers so he can finally pass on after so many years alive. Before long, though, the plot, setting, and combat system of Undead Unluck are greatly expanded upon, leaving readers/viewers in store for a few surprises.
