    Tell No One

Though it's hardly an original bone in it's body, I did quite enjoy this. That's probably a testament to the engaging effort from Josafat Vagni as the twenty-something "Mattia". He's gay and just about everyone knows - except his family. He keeps trying to pluck up the courage, but each time he's on the precipice something thwarts him. Then he meets "Eduard" (Jose Dammert) and falls hook, line and sinker. A solution, he thinks! "Eduard" lives far from Rome in Madrid, so no need to tell anyone? Sadly, his beau wants to meet his in-laws - and he wants to meet them with some sort of status too. Can "Mattia" get over his cold feet in time to save his relationship? There's a little help from a comedy narration as we follow this hapless lad awards a conclusion that quite effectively points out that secrets are really, really, quite difficult to keep - especially from a tightly knit family that has eyes and ears. Vagni has a charm to him and that does much to keep this entertaining enough as he battles some bigotry, deals with some daft misunderstandings and hopefully gets his man. It's maybe a bit contrived at times, and no, you'll never remember watching it but it's still an easy watch.

    Well worth your time.

An excellent Italian film, which is especially surprising since the story premise is hardly original.

Mattia has never come out to his family and only to a few others. He is about to leave for Spain for a new job and to live with his Spanish boyfriend, Eduard, who is under the impression that Mattia's family knows that he's gay and that they know about Eduard.

Eduard then makes a surprise announcement that he's coming to Italy to meet Mattia's family before he and Mattia travel back to Spain together. Much of what happens is fairly predictable, but a wonderful cast of actors & characters and, for the most part, an excellent script/dialogue make it a thoroughly enjoyable movie. More than a few laughs and even a couple of teary moments.

Even if you feel put off by the "storyline" which makes it seem like a rehash of some sitcom you've seen before, it is well worth watching.

    Simple story but lovely movie

I enjoyied the movie in original language, it is cute and lovely but very simple

    Cheesy.

I have an issue with gay movies. And no, it has absolutely nothing to do with being gay; I mean hello-oo-oo! No, my issue lies with the fact most gay-themed movies are predictable and forgettable. There are the few exceptions, but honestly just a few.

'Tell No One' is not an exception. Chances are I'm going to forget this with the next gay-themed movie I watch, or even after the next few movies. If you're into comedies, fine, I'm sure you'll have a good time with 'Tell No One'. Apart from being predictable, this film's non-linear storytelling makes the film very confusing. As if that's not enough, 'Tell No One' takes a detour before getting to its destination, and even so it feels it struggles to get to where it wants to be.

The film revolves around Matthia, who hasn't told his parents yet that he is gay. His boyfriend Eduard, however, believes Matthia's parents know. When Eduard plans to visit Matthia to meet his parents, Matthia goes in a flat spin, and him and his friends Aurora and Giancarlo resort to the most unconventional methods to stall the meeting.

'Tell No One' is as cheesy as they come, and not the best or most romantic gay story. Come to think of it, I didn't even find Matthia a very likeable character. Yes, there are funny moments scattered throughout, but in general I didn't find this a funny enough comedy.

A typical story but still lovely to watch

I've been watching some gay movies, some of them are about twink loves. Gay movies include no new topics but: a gay guy who (1) has a very close friend who is a girl desperately in love with the gay guy, (2) has a traditional family with conservative viewpoints about homosexual people, and (3) a desire to come out with the society yet remains skeptical about the outcome of this action.

In Come Non Detto, you see a young handsome funny enthusiastic responsible only son of an old-fashioned family in Italy who struggles with himself about telling their parents who he actually is. Among pieces of the present story, people are taken to past to understand how he was treated during high school, how he recognized himself as a gay guy, how he reached the secret gay community, how he met his first and also current Spanish lover, and how he has tried to inform his family. This guy is a good guy, for sure. But he has stood the pain for years.

The flavor in the film feels like a dish of Bolognese pasta. The characters are funny in an Italian way, the clothes are good, the scenes are beautiful and romantic, and eventually, when Mattia has taken all his courage to speak out, in several minutes of the scenes, people have been thrilled.

The actors and actresses are really nice, especially Josafat Vagni. Any gay guys would die to have such a lovely boyfriend with great virtues. His voice is attractive as well.
