If anyone knows how to launch a game of "Whodunnit?" it's Anthony E. Zuiker.
The writer-producer who created one of the world's top television franchises with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" likes viewer involvement, as he proved last fall with his direct-to-Internet series "Cybergeddon," which starred Missy Peregrym ("Rookie Blue"). He displays it again as a mentor of ABC's murder-mystery-themed competition "Whodunnit?" premiering Sunday, June 23.
"It is a game of survival, and you're trying not to get 'killed,' " Zuiker tells Zap2it of the premise that ultimately will leave three players to vie for $250,000. "I think some of the genius of it is the fear the contestants have of 'dying' in the episodes, which translates into the fear they have of getting kicked out of the game."
The project was originated by reality show producing veteran Cris Abrego ("Rock of Love With Bret Michaels") before Zuiker was brought on board...

Over the past year, Break Media has shifted from being a collector of user-generated videos with a decidedly male appeal into making shows of its own. No project encapsulates the changes better than "Higher Power," Break's first feature-length project, which it is producing with Hollywood heavyweight Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Break will release the movie in chapters like similar high-concept shows "Cybergeddon" (from "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker and distributed on Yahoo) and Warner Bros.' Even after three years on the beat, rookie cops still can have a lot to learn.
That's evident right from the start of Season 4 of "Rookie Blue," the Canadian-made drama that's now a well-rated summer programming mainstay for ABC. The show resumes Thursday, May 23, with what was set up by the previous round's last scene: Officers Andy McNally and Nick Collins (Missy Peregrym, Peter Mooney) are in the thick of the dangerous meth-related sting operation they've gone deep under cover for.
The loves they left behind, Sam Swarek and Gail Peck (Ben Bass, Charlotte Sullivan), and other colleagues from 15 Division search for them when they suddenly fall off the radar. Anthony E. Zuiker readily admits he's "sad ... I'm so sad" that "CSI: Miami" and "CSI: NY" are no more.
"I got the [network's] phone call on Mother's Day of last year that 'CSI: Miami' was going off the air," the producer who launched a globally popular franchise by creating CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" tells Zap2it. "That was probably a premature departure.
"And I just had a phone call with Gary Sinise a couple of days ago. It was almost 10 years ago that we sat down and had that conversation in the sagebrush in Calabasas [Calif.] about his coming to series television. Almost a decade later, it came to an end, but 'CSI: NY' had a great run. If you win the ring the first time out and you're me and you do two more shows, you think, 'It's easy.'

Dolphin Digital Media was responsible for co-producing three of 2012's biggest web series hits: Cybergeddon, H+, and Aim High, all of which earned Streamy Award nominations (with only Aim High failing to win at least one). During Digital Content Newfronts, Dolphin announced its slate for 2013, which includes a lengthy soap opera called South Beach and a teenage musical titled In Bloom. Dolphin's previous releases all utilize big name talent, with directors Bryan Singer, Anthony Zuiker, and McG involved in H+, Cybergeddon, and Aim High, respectively. All three of those series were oriented towards men, but In Bloom, which is centered around a "high school girl discovering her voice," sets a different precedent. Its executive producer is former teen star Ashley Tisdale, and its director, Andy Tennant, made his name with female-oriented films such as Ever After and Sweet Home Alabama. Therefore, Dolphin is one of several production companies at Newfronts...

CSI creator Anthony Zuiker showed off his web series skills late last year when he released Cybergeddon, an action-packed thriller, on Yahoo Screen. The series, about a government agent who goes rogue after a computer whiz targets her with the almighty power of hacking, scored more than 25 million total views and a Streamys win for its star, Missy Peregrym. Now, Cybergeddon is going global. Thanks to a distribution deal with digital media company Dolphin. The Dolphin deal will see Cybergeddon circumnavigate the world as global audiences are given an opportunity to enjoy its runny-punchy-shooty-hacky goodness. Through three separate partners, the series will be broadcast in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Canada. One wonders if the series could be particularly popular in France, the country from which lead actor Olivier Martinez hails. “Cybergeddon is a global phenomenon property that has reached more than 25 million global viewers in more than 25 countries,...

Missy Peregrym has learned a lot from doing "Rookie Blue" ... including how to leave work at the office.
The actress starts her fourth round as police officer Andy McNally when the Canadian-made drama resumes its ABC run Thursday, May 23. The season premiere follows through on last year's finale, with Andy and peer Nick Collins (Peter Mooney) immersed in a dangerous undercover operation. The episode means some rough stuff for Peregrym physically, but she maintains she's gotten better at not taking the related emotions home with her.
"People ask if it's second nature to play Andy now, or if I have to think about it a lot," Peregrym tells Zap2it, "and it's kind of a difficult answer. Sometimes, I don't know where Andy begins and I end. I'm learning from her through stuff I've never experienced before; other times, I can project my experiences onto the character and into the story.

Back in October, we brought you the trailer for Chosen, a new action-packed series on Crackle starring former Heroes hunk Milo Ventimiglia. All six episodes of Chosen have now been released, with plenty of gripping action available for your viewing pleasure. Chosen plays out in cinematic, TV-length episodes, centers around a case of mistaken identity, builds into a wild goose chase, and features a former Heroes actor in the lead role. If this sounds familiar, it's because Cybergeddon employed the same formula earlier this year, created an action-packed, Streamy-nominated ride. When compared to Anthony Zuiker's web opus, Chosen is a little more retrained, focusing more on intrigue and less on kicking people in the face. Still, this is hardly Masterpiece Theater. Anthony Zuiker's Cybergeddon web series has been rolling along on Yahoo! Screen since its launch last week. The CSI creator has been promoting the heck out his new show, appearing several times alongside What's Trending?'s Shira Lazar at Social Media Week Los Angeles. After Lazar hosted a discussion with Zuiker regarding his feelings about the online video industry, she caught up with him after the event for a brief interview, which was recently posted to What's Trending?'s YouTube channel. The companion app discussed in the interview is the Cybergeddon game, where players must stop cybercrime threats in what seems to be a defend-your-castle format. The game has been downloaded to thousands of mobile devices since its launch, and if user reviews are to be believed, it's quite addicting. The game is one of the many ways that Zuiker is engaging his viewers through multiple platforms on both...

Anthony Zuiker, the creator of CSI, has done well to build a large digital presence for himself. In April, he launched BlackBox TV, a YouTube Original Channel dedicated to horror, thriller, and sci fi programming. He's even created short films for the network himself. Now, the web is both the medium and the subject for Zuiker's next batch of serial content, the highly anticipated Cybergeddon. The show premiered yesterday on Yahoo Screen; six episodes are already up, with three more to debut shortly. Cybergeddon is trying to do for counter-cyber terrorism units what CSI did for forensics. The show features TV-quality production values and it's been tightly shot and buffed to the highest level of detail. The show transcends the often farcical nature of the Cyber Crime Division and instead turns the main protagonist, FBI Special Agent Chloe Jocelyn, into an action hero of Jason Bourne levels.
