'Total Blackout' host Jaleel White teases new episodes of the 'Fear Factor'-esque show
Total Blackout (États-Unis) (2012)
Total Blackout, the Syfy game show that challenges its contestants to complete fearsome tasks in complete darkness, returns tonight for the final six episodes of its second season.

It’s like Fear Factor – but in the dark. Challenges include walking across a plank without the benefit of actually seeing the plank (or how far above the floor it really is), crawling through tunnels filled with unidentified objects, and guessing the weight of objects and/or people (from a large snake to a sumo wrestler) just by touch. But the highlight of Total Blackout episodes tends to be the hilarity-producing challenge...

Grab Your Calendars: Syfy Announces Winter Schedule
It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.

Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.

Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:

Jaleel White Talks 'Total Blackout'
Total Blackout (États-Unis) (2012)
Former "Family Matters" star Jaleel White dropped by the fourth hour of "Today" to talk to Kathie Lee and Hoda about "Total Blackout," the recently-renewed game show he hosts on Syfy. “Total Blackout” contestants can win $5,000 by answering for correctly guessing things like a sumo wrestler's weight -- in complete and total darkness. The show enjoyed international success before being brought to America earlier this year.

White said that while the size of the prize may seem modest, it's a bounty in today's trying economic times. "You would be surprised, in these times ... they're talking to each other like, 'Baby, look, we gotta get the air conditioning fixed, let's do this.'"

White told Yahoo! that the originality, and laughs, come from watching people freak out in the darkness. "A lot of people are immediately going to say, 'Oh, it's just 'Fear Factor' in the dark.' But it's not that.

'DWTS' eliminated contestant: 'No tears here'
Kym Johnson Herjavec
Jaleel White thought he had done his best during the third — and final — Dance Duel of the season on Dancing with the Stars. “I kind of whispered to Kym before, look, this is our encore, let’s dance this like it’s our last dance!”

Unfortunately, he and Johnson did just that: The duo became the seventh couple Tuesday to leave the dance floor.

“There are no tears here,” he told reporters afterwards. “I am proud of my last dance and I can’t wait to see it in the morning. The judges have to do what they have to...

'Total Blackout' Series Premiere: Freaking Out In The Dark

Because they couldn't see anything the contestants had to rely on their other four senses, which meant their imaginations sometimes got the better of them.

'Dancing With the Stars' Jaleel White: 'Psych' and 'Total Blackout' are outside his 'comfort zone'
If it seemed Jaleel White was under the radar for a while, he certainly is making up for it this spring.

The former Steve Urkel of "Family Matters" has been most visible as a contestant on Season 14 of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," but he also made a return appearance on USA Network's "Psych" recently. Now he turns game show host: White presides over the aptly titled Syfy series "Total Blackout," premiering Wednesday, April 25.

"Again, it's stepping outside my comfort zone," White tells Zap2it of the contest that puts players in complete darkness as they compete in various challenges. "Being the host of a show, like Joe Rogan with 'Fear Factor' or Ashton Kutcher with 'Punk'd,' it was a new experience. There are different conceits to how to be engaging with that, and I hope the degree to which I laugh on the set will translate in the editing.

Jaleel White Speaks on Dancing With the Stars Experience
Resurrecting Steve Urkel, or more accurately Stefan Urquelle, was not a small deal for Jaleel White.

On Dancing With the Stars last week, the 35-year-old, former Family Matters star and his fellow cast members were asked to perform a routine inspired by the most memorable year of their lives.

For White, that year was when his now-legendary geek character created his smooth alter ego.

"I never touch any of my old characters; I leave them vaulted," White told TV Fanatic last week. "I knew the tabloids would have some fun with it, but it was emotional and I felt a lot of pressure to dance well."

Playing the part with which he achieved fame as a teenager was difficult enough, but the actor admits struggling with the media (specifically tabloid) attention paid to his appearance on the show this season.

"It was intense. What was supposed to be an uplifting tribute,...

The Voice (2011)
'90s Black Sitcom Stars Return To TV
The Voice (2011)
Everyone loves a good comeback and as of late, TV has been chock-full of them.

When "The Voice's" Cee Lo Green had the former "Family Matters" star Jaleel White -- better known as Steve Urkel -- lip-sync in his "Cry Baby" music video, it was clear that though Urkel had fallen, he's gotten up. Soon enough, it was announced that White would get a new small screen gig: hosting a SyFy game show called "Total Blackout."

But he's far from the only actor from a '90s black sitcom to return to TV recently: "Sister, Sister" twins Tia and Tamera Mowry starred in their own blockbuster Style Network reality series; Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy on "The Cosby Show," got a gig on "Tyler Perry's House of Payne;" her TV big brother Malcolm Jamal Warner (a.k.a. Theo Huxtable) had a stint on "Community"; Jasmine Guy, the...

Urkel Star Talks Crazy Fans & New Plans
Jaleel White, Host of Syfy's Total Blackout
Jaleel White is now 35-years old. He does not wear suspenders or big glasses, and he does not exclaim, "Did I do that?" at inopportune yet comedically-appropriate times. He's an actor, writer and producer, with a long list of credits on TV and film. But not everyone realizes that. Especially Hollywood casting directors.

Speaking to The Wrap on Saturday, White, the one-time Steve Urkel, said that after a decade and a half of working consistently -- and now hosting the Syfy show "Total Blackout" -- he wants the opportunity to finally shatter his "Family Matters" image. His idea? Use a little meth, so to speak.

TCA: Syfy’s ‘Total Blackout’ Seeks to Get Laughs Out of Contestant’s Fears
Jaleel White (Family Matters) was at the TCA Winter Press Tour today to talk about his new series on Syfy called Total Blackout, a Us adaptation of the Danish game show of the same name. The series is a half-hour game show in which contestants will battle each other (and their phobias) in a series of challenges.

The main structure of the show is three rounds in which there are no lights, no blindfolds and the players have to identify items in the dark or complete other physical challenges. Night vision cameras will catch all the action.

The TCA panel featured a live demo of the process in which several TV actors and personalities participated, including Sam Huntington (Being Human), Jenni Pulos (Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis), Sabina Kelley (Best Ink), Sarah Colonna (Chelsea Lately). They were all tasked with identifying objects in 3 tanks, which included a feather duster, a foot and eels in water.
