Saint Seiya: Where the Spin-Offs Fit in the Timeline Chronologically
Image
Saint Seiya tells the story of five knights, known as Saints, who wear armor representing guardian constellations, and their quest to protect Athena against a pantheon of Gods. The Lost Canvas, Soul of Gold, and Omega are spin-offs of the original Saint Seiya that offer unique perspectives within the original timeline, enriching the lore in unexpected ways. Despite mixed reception, these spin-offs breathe fresh life into the beloved Saint Seiya franchise, expanding the cosmic quests and battles that have captivated audiences worldwide.

Originally adapted into an anime in 1986, Saint Seiya tells the story of five knights, known as Saints, who each wear an armor or Cloth that bears the imprint of a guardian constellation. The stories of these Saints, created by Masami Kurumada, follow the heroes as they fulfill their divine mission to protect and defend the reincarnation of Athena against a pantheon of Gods, each with their own plan...

Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas Deserved More Love Than it Got
Image
There are a lot of anime spin-offs, yet few are as superior while unjustly overlooked as Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. It does not overshadow the original series but rather plays the role of somewhat of a prequel, rich with its own mythological splendor. Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas tells a tale that is steeped in mature themes and philosophy without being pretentious. While the original Saint Seiya anime was set during modern times, Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas is set in a time more similar to the Middle Ages and in a nutshell tells the story of Pegasus and Hades' first incarnations.

The animation takes a painterly leap forward, creating a visual landscape that is quite mesmerizing. Where the original animation feels limited by the technology of the time it was produced, Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas elevates its production value and grants the Saint Seiya franchise an entry that simply shines.

Why Do So Many Anime Characters Have a Third Eye?
Image
Every once in a while, there comes an anime character who has a third eye situated in the middle of their forehead. It may be a constant part of their design, or it may only appear when they're powering up. This feature -- symbolic or literal -- shows up in too many anime to simply ignore.

In truth, the idea of a third eye on the forehead finds its roots in real-world religions, especially those practiced in South and Southeast Asia. It has significant spiritual implications, as achieving the third eye requires focus and discipline. This is why it shows up in so many anime, especially among characters with mystical powers.

Where Does the Concept of the Third Eye Come From?

In Hinduism and Buddhism, the third eye is invisible, but can be accessed by those who have attained spiritual enlightenment. These...
