Magnificat

A priest has just died. The medical report indicates that he is a woman, and that everyone was unaware of this. Naturally, the Church is embarrassed and wishes to bury the matter. But a female Church employee decides to find out how this is possible, and conducts her own investigation. It's Karin Viard, very much in character. She sees this as an opportunity for women. A committed film, then. Between the embarrassment of the Church, which wants to keep it all under wraps, and the search for the truth and the story (what could have led to this situation), the film pulls the viewer right to the end, because he too wants to understand how a woman could be a priest for all those years. Especially since the deceased "father" was appreciated by all and sundry.

The plot tells us about the investigator's personal background (her son doesn't know his father), which distorts the film's subject by adding a subplot that is of little use to the subject. All in all, the film is worth seeing for its subject, even if it isn't subtle at times.
