Rapsodos

I wasn't sure what to expect, but this film is fast-enough paced and so engaging I was immediately drawn in. The story is unusual, yet not so much that it becomes unbelievable. "Could this really happen?" The viewer is left wondering throughout. With its many plot twists and turns, it's impossible for your attention to wander. The actors are truly gifted; and the dialogue and characterizations are both top-notch. I was especially drawn to the moments when you had to think, "Is this real, or a character's dream?" Even at the end, you're never really quite sure ... and that's one of the film's great strengths. As with life in general, nothing is ever sure. I'm an older person, but viewed this with 20- and 30-somethings and we all loved it.

This film has a bit of everything in it. It's pretty quick which is always welcome, 87 minutes yay! It's irreverent but still heartfelt and thankfully it isn't trying too hard to be more than it is; a film about the power of storytelling. It has some really creative moments and veers into the arthouse circle of the Venn diagram on occasion but mostly it's entertaining and the main character keeps the flow from getting too stodgy. If you haven't had a chance to check this one out and you like finding "off the beaten path" kinds of films, definitely give this little Greek film a shot. You won't be disappointed :-)
