Borys Szyc, Andrzej Chyra, Jacek Braciak and Mariusz Bonaszewski auditioned for the role of Lech Walesa. Eventually it went to Robert Wieckiewicz who played Adolf Hitler in the movie "AmbaSSada" at the same time.
The premiere of the movie at 2013 Venice Film Festival was attended by Lech Walesa and his wife Danuta Walesa. They were greeted by the audience with standing ovation.
Actresses Olga Boladz, Anita Sokolowska, Anna Cieslak and Joanna Brodzik wanted to play Danuta Walesa. Agnieszka Grochowska finally got the part.
