Unusually, Deepika Padukone is credited ahead of Shah Rukh Khan, at the request of Shah Rukh Khan himself.

At the end of the movie, Shah Rukh Khan gives a tribute to Superstar Rajnikanth. Satyaraj who plays Meena's father, starred opposite Rajnikanth in the Tamil movie Mr. Bharath (1986), which was a remake of the Hindi movie Trishul (1978) which starred Amitabh Bachchan.
The film's poster and trailer, released on Twitter and YouTube, were criticized by some Tamil media for their depiction of Tamil ethos. They said Deepika Padukone's heavily accented dialogue resembled a Malyalee accent rather than a Tamil one.Deepika Padukone defended the film, saying that it did not parody South Indian culture and that most of the crew, including herself, are South Indians. She later said, "Why would we spoof our own culture.
