Rafi Gavron and Shiloh Fernandez have joined the ensemble of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” sources close to the actors confirm.
The Universal film’s previously announced cast members include Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal and John Leguizamo.
Universal shared in December that the film “is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new Imax film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to Imax film screens for the first time.”
Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem “The Odyssey” remains one of the oldest pieces of literature still read by modern audiences. It chronicles the story of Greek hero Odysseus during his tumultuous journey home following the Trojan War.

In an increasingly competitive entertainment landscape, pitching matters more than ever before. Luckily, Canva makes it easy for filmmakers to design high quality pitch decks on their own. At IndieWire’s Future of Filmmaking Summit, a panel presented by Canva convened five experts to discuss the technologies that empower artists to bring their ideas to life for potential investors and stars.
Found in Australia in 2013, Canva is a software company that offers design tools for individuals and companies, but over the last few years, it has also found a niche market in providing creatives a platform to draft pitch decks and presentations that provide visual insight into their ideas. In our “Pitch Your Project” panel, moderated by Alison Foreman, writer/director Jeremie Cander, who was selected to be part of Issa Rae’s “Find Your People” program through her company Color Creative, expressed her appreciation for Canva in helping her develop new skills.

Fox’s Accused has added four actors to its season two cast. Cobie Smulders, Vella Lovell, Dina Shihabi, and Isabel Arraiza have joined the crime anthology series for the upcoming season.
In addition, Fox unveiled a short trailer teasing the fictional cases and timely subject matters that will be featured in the new season.
“Accused is a collection of intense, topical, and human stories of crime and punishment. Each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast,” reads Fox’s synopsis. “Based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology, each episode opens in a courtroom on the defendant, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, the show holds a mirror up to current times with evocative and emotional stories. In the end,...

Abdellah Taïa’s sophomore feature is described as “a queer ode to the seemingly carefree time of youth,” but it proves a little too carefree in its depiction of two young people whiling away time in the Moroccan beach resort that gives the film its title. Although boasting languidly sensual atmosphere to spare thanks to its setting and sexy, young lead performers, Cabo Negro, receiving its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, ultimately proves frustrating with its purposefully oblique narrative.
The story, such as it is, revolves around Jaafar (Youness Beye, Ghosts of Beirut) and his female friend Soundouss (Oumaima Barid, Animalia), who arrive at a lavish villa rented by Jaafar’s lover, Jonathan, who is supposed to arrive later. But he doesn’t show up, and isn’t responding to Jaafar’s messages. So the pair sit around, spending time hanging out at the beach, leafing...

This romantic saga delves into the emotional complexities of two artistic companions turned lovers, which drove Egon’s artistic vision while he struggled to navigate society’s norms. Dermot Mulroney didn't decide that he wanted to be an actor until he was already partway through college. According to a profile in a 1986 profile in the Washington Post, Mulroney -- then an up-and-coming 22-year-old -- auditioned for a William Morris agent who just happened to be visiting his college. She was so impressed, she laid a contract in front of him on the spot, and he was on screen in the CBS TV movie "Sin of Innocence" only weeks later. Since then, Mulroney has enjoyed a long and lucrative career in film and TV, appearing in hit films, indie movies, thrillers, horror movies, Christmas movies, and just about anything. Mulroney received a SAG Award nomination for his performance in "August: Osage County" in 2013. Going against Showtime’s five-episode norm, Greg Barker’s Ghosts of Beirut decides to end the series one episode early, and it culminates with the CIA and Mossad closing in on Imad Mughniyeh for the final showdown. For three decades, Imad had been a ghost who struck from the shadows and left bodies as his handiwork, but in the previous episode, he’d revealed himself. His pride had been his folly, and now his face was no longer an enigma. Here’s what happens in the final episode of Showtime’s Ghosts of Beirut, as Imad Mughniyeh plans something catastrophic.

After Imad’s face makes it to the CIA and Mossad’s HQ, the Father of Smoke is no longer a mystery but a man with a face and a family, and hence, a man with fears. However, even when the two parties meet,...

The third episode of Showtime’s Ghosts of Beirut was released today, and the greatest takeaway from this episode should be ‘Pride is the biggest cause of the downfall of man.’ Imad Mughniyeh, aka Radwan, aka Father of Smoke, had caused havoc in Lebanon and every other part of the world where Jewish people lived to make his presence felt. After the explosion of the mosque in the second episode, Imad’s terrorism only grew. Episode 3 transports us to 2007, where Imad’s recklessness leads him to make mistakes he’ll come to regret dearly. Here’s what happens in the third episode of Ghosts of Beirut.

The second episode of the spine-chilling true story of a manhunt for one of the deadliest terrorists, Ghosts of Beirut, was released today. Previously, we’d been introduced to Lebanese local Imad Mughniyeh, who took it to heart to rid his country of Israeli and American presence by orchestrating suicide bomber attacks. After a suicide bomber drove a truck to the US Embassy and killed CIA operative Robert Ames, among others, the US government started taking the Lebanese situation seriously. However, poor decisions and a lack of planning were to lead to far more damage to the mission and CIA’s integrity, as we’re to see in this week’s episode of Ghosts of Beirut.

Imad Mughniyeh was responsible for more American deaths in terrorist attacks before the devastating 9/11 bombings and was able to outsmart not only the CIA but also the Mossad. Making matters even more difficult was the fact that no one knew what he looked like. By 2001, he was on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist list with a $15 million bounty for information leading to his arrest. The reward was later bumped up to $25 million. He ultimately appeared on the most wanted list in 42 countries before he died was assassinated at the age of 45 in a car bombing in 2008.

At a certain point in the final episode of Ghosts of Beirut, a character utters a powerful statement about the relationship between the Middle East and the United States: both territories “are the same” and they “feed on each other.” Even though this may not sound like a huge revelation, it says a lot about the approach of the Showtime series and how it reflects the current state of the world.

Showtime has released an official trailer for Ghosts of Beirut, a four-part spy drama that revisits the true-life manhunt for the deadly Hezbollah mastermind Imad Mughniyeh, who killed more Americans than any other terrorist before 9/11 as he eluded the CIA and Mossad for over two decades.
“You push the button, and go to Paradise,” a voice-over in Arabic says at one point in the limited series trailer, as Mughniyeh, also known as the Ghost and played by Hisham Suleiman, sets up more deadly terrorist strikes.
The heart-pounding thriller comes from Fauda creators Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz and will stream on Showtime May 19 before making its on-air debut May 21. The trailer has a pulsing score and explosive action sequences as Ghosts of Beirut spans decades and weaves in first-hand, real-life interviews with officials from the CIA and Mossad to connect the turmoil of 1980s Beirut with the spy games of the modern Middle East.
“You push the button, and go to Paradise,” a voice-over in Arabic says at one point in the limited series trailer, as Mughniyeh, also known as the Ghost and played by Hisham Suleiman, sets up more deadly terrorist strikes.
