The engaged couple were seen leaving NBC Studios after taping an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (March 20) in New York City.

At a New York Imax screening of “Spring Breakers,” Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco crashed the party, saying hello to hundreds of fans who showed up to watch A24’s bikini-clad drug bonanza on the nation’s second-largest screen.

Moviegoers shrieked as Gomez and Blanco made their surprise appearance, and one was heard saying, “Oh my God. I need to call everybody I know.”

“Hi guys,” Gomez said to the audience. “Did you guys enjoy one of my favorite movies ever?”

Gomez then pulled out her phone to take a selfie with the crowd at AMC Lincoln Square, promising to send it to “Spring Breakers” director “Harmony [Korine] and the girls,” referring to co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine.

During the short visit, Gomez and Blanco previewed a clubby track, “Bluest Flame,” off their upcoming album “I Said I Love You First,” and sent everyone home with a Usb drive containing the yet-to-be-released song.

Filmmaker Harmony Korine (“Spring Breakers”) has been well-established as leaning toward material that is specifically designed to shock and disturb audiences going back to films such as “Kids” (a cautionary tale set in NYC he wrote for Larry Clark) alongside subsequent directorial efforts “Gummo” and “Trash Humpers.” Korine’s latest pic, “Baby Invasion,” is set to combine the world of violent first-person shooter video games with the unnerving assistance of artificial intelligence to make the film.

The Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight sidebar competition has revealed the poster for its upcoming 2025 edition, featuring a painting by one of cinema’s boundary-obliterating cult heroes.

From “Spring Breakers” director Harmony Korine, the painting features two blurry faces in red and yellow, which Korine introduced as “Twitchys”

“The characters in the painting are called Twitchys,” he said in a quote on the competition’s social media pages. “They are always lurking and playing. They are very happy to be at Cannes.”

According to the Directors’ Fortnight, Korine’s “poetry and crazy energy set the tone for the 57th edition!”

Following his infrared crime thriller/nightmare Aggro DR1FT, he’s back with Baby Invasion, which sports a brand new score from Burial. Following its Venice premiere last fall and ahead of its unique NYC event this Friday, the first trailer has now arrived.

This Friday’s event will take place at Queens’ Knockdown Center and will feature Korine deconstructing and mixing the feature film like a DJ set, transforming Baby Invasion into a pulsating, hypnotic experience. The A24 x IMAX Present screening series is kicking off 2025 with a stellar lineup.

IndieWire can announce that Barry Jenkins’ Oscar-winning “Moonlight” and Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers” will both be in IMAX for the first time ever, courtesy of the studio.

“Moonlight” will screen for one night only on February 27 as part of the A24 x IMAX monthly screening series. Tickets are now available here. “Spring Breakers” will screen March 19, with tickets on sale February 21. Both films will screen across IMAX locations nationwide, and at select locations internationally.

“Moonlight,” which IndieWire awarded the title of best film of the 2010s, won Best Picture in 2017. Auteur Barry Jenkins adapted Tarell Alvin McCarney’s play “In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue” for the screen; the story follows a queer boy as he comes of age in Miami.

Amazon has announced that Prime Video has licensed an upcoming documentary on Melania Trump that is being directed by Brett Ratner, the director and producer of films like “Rush Hour 2” who has been on the outs with Hollywood since the #MeToo era.

The movie began filming in December 2024, shortly after Donald Trump won the election, and intends to be completed and released in the second half of 2025. The untitled documentary project will be released theatrically as well as available exclusively on Prime Video, though no specific release plans in terms of the scope of the theatrical release were detailed.

An Amazon spokesperson said the film will give “an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look” at the First Lady, and that she will be executive producing the film alongside Fernando Sulichin for New Element Media.

Exclusive: Longtime Universal acquisitions exec Jasper Van Hecke has recently left his role as SVP Global, Acquisitions & Production at the Universal Pictures Content Group (Upcg), headquartered in London.

Dutchman Hecke joined Upcg in 2008 and was known for acquiring, pre-buying and exec-producing feature films and documentaries for global and multi territory rights. He was in his latest role since 2017.

Netflix's crime comedy musical Emilia Prez features Selena Gomez's career-best film performance as the unstoppable Jessi Del Monte. Directed by French filmmaker Jacques Audiard, the genre-blending film delivers innovative music numbers and choreography infused with a gut-wrenching story about unfulfilled desire and regret. The film is a loose adaptation of the 2018 novel coute by Boris Razon and is France's official entry for Best International Feature at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards, which will be held on March 2, 2025.

Harmony Korine's filmography has been characterized by themes of found family, social alienation, and dysfunctional relationships. All three can be found in his 2007 film Mister Lonely, which follows a Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna) who finds an antidote to his loneliness in a Scottish commune made up of fellow celebrity impersonators. The film is much less abrasive than some of Korine's most (in)famous films. It isn't the postmodern indictment of youthful hedonism that is Spring Breakers, nor is it as intentionally repulsive as Gummo or Trash Humpers. Harmony Korine met photographer Larry Clark while he was still a teenage skater bumming about Greenwich Village in New York. Outside of Gummo and Spring Breakers I’ve not seen any of Harmony Korine’s filmography. Based on those two films I’d come to the conclusion that his vision and style of filmmaking didn’t align with the types of films I enjoy. Despite my negative first reaction to Gummo, which I watched in 2004 at the age of seventeen, I’ve never forgotten the movie and what a strange viewing experience it was. Now that I’m in my thirties and with the Criterion Collection releasing a brand new 4K transfer, it seemed like the perfect time to revisit it and see if my feelings had changed.

Party girls unite! Charli Xcx enlisted Kesha to perform their pair’s recent remix of “Spring Breakers” during the Sweat tour stop at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last night. Kesha also performed her own hit, “Tik Tok,” during he show with Charli and Troye Sivan.

Charli first hit the stage to perform her verse from the original version of “Spring Breakers,” before surprising the L.A crowd with Kesha, who was draped in a pink fur coat.
