The "Tündérkert" series is based on the works of Zsigmond Móricz, the excellent Hungarian writer. An exciting story about the power relationship of historical figures Gábor Báthory and Gábor Bethlen and the fate of Transylvania. After the first 2 parts, it can be said that thanks to the excellent acting, spectacular and erotic scenes, we can watch a really great movie. The world-famous Erzsébet Báthory, who was not featured in the original work, also gets an important role in the film.
Unfortunately, many people think that any film made with state support can only be bad. Based on prejudices, they try to influence the viewers with their false evaluations.
After watching all 8 episodes, it can be said that the series is excellent. It exceeded my expectations. Exciting, twisty, unpredictable. I would especially highlight parts 6 and 8. Any country in the world would be proud of such a series of films. Good news, to be continued.

I have seen the first three episodes so far. I like the show,i tend to like period drama's and the production quality is good here. I dont know if it will come across to you as good as it does if you know hungarian like me,have not seen subtitles yet.
Báthori Erzsébet is not used to her potential(evil) yet so that leaves us waiting. Another negative: it was not shot in Transilvania witch is a beautifful land, full of hills mountains forrests. But you will find politics, scheming, betrayal, lust, cheating.
Six episodes seem short for me, but this is a trend nowdays(i found official info it was supposed to be 8 episodes, imdb says 6). It may not be as dark as dark as Penny dreadfull,Or as charmfull as Midnight at the Pera Palace but still give it a try.

It seems that some hungarian TV series productions have the tendency of remaking blockbuster hollywood TV series in a very amateur form. Even Bollywood does similar but it is been appreciated globally and watched by millions of viewers.
This production lacks true experience of storytelling and good acting. Also the genre of this film production does not really entertain hungarian tv viewers in general since they are upset with the government using public funds to create such productions.
It is sad that the fidesz political party is neglecting real talented filmmakers but rather pushing funds mainly for propaganda purposes!!!

My would they even make this? The ruler is sickening enough, I stopped watching after the 3rd episode. Really Not worth 8 hours of my time.
The costumes and backgrounds are nice and overall production and acting skills are good, but not sure who the main audience is here. I'm guessing not for womenfolk , because as a woman it's just blood boiling to watch this arrogant and stupid boy playing king and paints an ugly picture of men in general , although quite accurate for the timeline. It could have been great with a better better storyline, but would not recommend to waste your time on this series.

By the beginning of the 17th century, the country, torn apart, was being squeezed by the Habsburgs from the west and the Turks from the south-east. The last somewhat free bastion of the Hungarians, Transylvania, was wedged between the two powerful empires.
But keeping the peace in Transylvania is not easy. In the past, a murderous struggle for the throne was fought, from which the young and reckless, but otherwise irresponsible and willful - and not least - womanising Báthory Gábor emerged victorious. Báthory's background appears to be broad: the family is ancient and legendary, behind him is the famous/infamous aunt -- later infamous or made infamous throughout Europe -- Erzsébet Báthory; and there is his older, more considered and cultured "master", Gábor Bethlen.
The three nations of Transylvania, the Hungarians, the Szeklers and the Saxons, are hoping that Báthory may finally bring peace to the long-suffering little country.
In this world, it only takes a moment for a friend to become an enemy. It soon becomes apparent that on one side stands Gábor Báthory, a reckless and improvising man of passion, ambition, great passions and conflict. Slowly turning against all of this, we find the calm, educated and more experienced Bethlen, who makes decisions based on principles and experience, whether it is love or political positions.
A spectacularly executed, well-filmed mini-series and not a fantasy, not a Game of Thrones, but a real drama about 17th century Hungarian (Transylvanian) history.
