I randomly picked this movie to watch and I don't usually do so because it's a gamble. You don't know whether you will be wasting your time (no pun intended) or is going to turn out to be good. This movie turned out to be decent. It's not totally predictable so it will be even more boring but it's not marvelous either. The reason for this probably is because of the:
1. Acting:
While the acting wasn't so bad the only bad thing about this turned out to be some scenes when the actors "over-acted" didn't give the feel of an organic, natural way that a sane person would do. This was the boring part as it was pretty predictable what they were going to do... Pick the job, smoke some crack, do some woo woo stuff and get back where it all started. Well, kind of.
2. The Topic.
Time Travel movies have been out since people figured out green screens and the digital cameras shot in a better resolution and I'm not gonna lie, it's getting a little boring. Not with the topic itself but the way it is treated, it is developed and how it ends. This movie however was unique in it's own way (or so I think due to the fact that I haven't seen too many time travel movies).
3. Probably had a budget limit: I'm not talking about the resolution and the actors but it felt like it came from a movie startup, even if it did they did a good job. It wasn't on the Hollywood Standards and that's okay but that's how it felt.
For me it wasn't a complete waste of time. I enjoyed it beyond time travel things and thing that it did best, it kept me entertained ngl. I give this movie a solid 6.5 out of 10. I'm sure they can do better.

Why did I watch the whole movie? So that you don't have to! I usually love any kind of time travel movie, but this one is truly terrible! And why did I give it a '1'? To counter the reviews here with '10', as they are fake which you can easily verify because the reviewers don't have any other reviews on IMDb.
The dialogues are stupid, annoying and full of expletives, for which there is absolutely no reason as it spoils the movie even more. The poor actors probably just followed the pointless and dumb script, which makes you wonder whether the writer has ever written anything that makes remotely sense. It's about drug users who are getting into a time travel dilemma (no spoiler here) which is neither believable nor conclusive.
Most time travel movies have some sort of plot holes or illogical twists, but 'Time Addicts' is just messy and annoyingly haphazard. The movie is set in a dark and dank house where all the time travel happens, which is attempting to set a somber tone, but it's not helping. Save your time and watch anything else, you'll thank me! I wish I had a time-travelling crystal in order to get 90 minutes of my life back.

I caught a screening of Time Addicts at Monster Fest this October. I saw a film which was lovingly crafted by people with a true passion for cinema, and a movie that was, for the most part, very technically proficient. The cinematography in particular was particularly solid, though the occasional shot did linger for too long a time. And the cast did a very strong job making their characters reasonably believable.
Unfortunately, I also saw a film which agitated me in a number of ways, and most of this came down to the screenplay.
Time Addicts is a film which tries to balance a real Aussie sense of humour with another attempt to be a serious thriller about drug addiction, paranoia and time travel. The film plays out very seriously but every line of dialogue is overly aggressive in its effort to be comedic banter and never feels like an organic line of dialogue, even with a cast that play it off very naturally.
In a respectable effort to keep the film contained to a single location, Time Addicts drags out its scenes for too long at a time and stretches its thin premise for a long time and often with a very slow pace. As such, the momentum never really feels like it kicks off. It often feels like writer-director Sam Odlum saw the 2019 time travel movie "Synchronic", another movie about a drug that makes people travel through time, and thought to himself "I would tell that story differently". He has some decent ambitions and exhibits sense of visual style in doing so, but he fails to find the narrative momentum to make a compelling story out of it. Time Addicts is certainly not a predictable film as it goes in a number of directions one might not anticipate, but I found it was often directions that were too ridiculous for me to believe on any level, even in a story where I can suspend disbelief enough to accept a drug that creates time travel. Whilst Synchronic explored way more possibilities, and naturally had a higher budget to allow it to do so, Time Addicts constantly had me very aware that we were inside a single location in the present day, and not in the past or the future as the story would want you to believe. And with very few characters in the story, the empty backgrounds of the same reused house were constantly on display. I respect that this film wanted to make use of a single location, but I ultimately wasn't captivated enough by the story or the script to take my attention away from this.
Ultimately, the biggest problem lies with the protagonist, who is ironically and unironically the antagonist of the film at the same time. Charles Grounds portrays Johnny very believably, even too believably for a character whose dialogue is inorganic and desperate to be funny. He was so believable that he actually reminded me of two people I've met in life my life, let's call them "Luke" and "Trevor". Luke was a paranoid meth addict I knew and eventually began to despise for his constant mistreatment of my friend whom he kept in a toxic relationship. And like Trevor, Grounds' character Johnny drags his girlfriend into the entire ordeal of the movie through his selfish habits. Supposedly, I'm meant to have a fraction of concern for his well-being. But like his real life counterpart "Luke", why should I care about this guy? He's selfish and genuinely unlikable as a person. If anything, I should want him to suffer at the hands of the drug dealer threatening to sever his thumbs. And I do. If Charles got his thumbs cut off in the first ten minutes of the film, then I'd be a happier person. Instead I sat through a lot of long, slow sequences where he was the only one talking, or one of the visibly few characters in the universe of the film. But the real issue came from the fact that every line of dialogue he said felt like it was meant to be the punchline in an episode of "The Big Lez Show" without any sense of believability, or genuine laughter. The audience around me chuckled quite a lot and enjoyed the sense of humour, so there is certainly an audience for it (and it was a sold out theatre too, so it was an inspired and large audience) but I wasn't that audience. I honestly just wished he would shut his drug-induced mouth. That's the same thought I had about my friend "Trevor" the last time he took three tabs of Acid. I just wished he'd shut up, but to his credit there was at least a rhythm to what he was saying, something that Johnny was lacking. Johnny is a poorly written character with a great actor who makes him so believable that it's often unbearable, but to have him written to be so intentionally unlikable and have him constantly say dialogue so artificial and annoying that it's like a cheese grater to the ear, it was not a comfortable experience to have to sit through a feature length runtime trapped in a cinema with him.
Ultimately, I failed to see the film all the way through. About halfway through, poised between remaining in a cinema with a character I couldn't stand and a movie that barely moved, I made the decision to get up and leave. I tried my best to see it through, but I didn't want to spend any more time with an agitating drug addict that would neither capture my sympathy nor make me laugh at any point. I wanted to support the filmmaker because he showed a lot of merit as a director and a knack for keeping a budgetary production as one with solid technical flare, as well as for the fact that it's not fair to judge a film completely unless you've seen it all the way through. All that being said, without a protagonist I could bear to be around I just found myself wanting to get out of the cinema quickly, no matter how many times I said to myself "just give it a chance".
Time Bandits is definitely a step in the right direction for Sam Odlum and I look forward to seeing where he goes from here. With more attention to tonal balance, likeable characters and believable dialogue, I can see his full potential blossoming into something great. I hope his sophomore effort takes everything that worked about this film and grows in a number of ways I felt this one came up short.

This was horrible, bad acting and no plot! I could not believe that I wasted 2 hours of my life watching this movie. That is 2 hours I will never get back! I kept waiting for the movie to get better and it never happened. Why are there bad movies like this. There should have been a warning label on the movie to advise me that it is horrible! There needed to be so much added to go from horrible just to BAD! There should have been a warning label on the movie to advise me that it is horrible! I really wanted to LOVE this, especially after I was sucked into the trailer, the concept had promise but wasn't executed correctly. Firstly, the drug addicted characters did not ring true to life, I could see the actors phoning it in or trying very hard to be a bogan junkie without having the acting chops to pull it off. It didn't feel authentic like the writer / director didn't experience it and wanted to make a film about it. You can see when someone hasn't had lived experience. Especially the lead actress she really needed to go further with her character, she seemed to OK to be a druggie. I didn't quite believe her performance. The lead actor was trying to play it cool or eccentric, but it didn't land either. The other ensemble cast were actually quite good. The story is lacking so much, long scenes with pacing issues and boring, I found myself fast forwarding as NOTHING literally was happening. I can't believe yet another terrible funding choice from VIC SCREEN and the funding bodies whereas other filmmakers are struggling to make films who are far more talented.
Overall its photographed well, all technical aspects are very good, nice locations and music but that where it ends.

For a film about smoking pipes and travelling through time it was proper entertaining. Anyone upset about the dialogue or swearing clearly hasn't hung out with Aussie junkies and that's disappointing. These people are the salt of the earth....literally....they'll harvest salt from the ocean for a point. The male lead (Charles) was fantastic with a Captain Jack Sparrow-esque performance if he was drinking tinnies and grew up in housing commish. Anyway, smoke a bowl and enjoy a weird journey into the niche cookery of meth subculture in Melbourne, Australia. And if you hate it, go and watch the latest marvel movie for the 12th time.

Time Addicts is a unique, clever and brilliant movie that takes time travel and crackheads to a whole new level!
This movie thrives on an excellent script and intertwining plotline ending in a unexpected twist. This is sure to leave a lasting impression.
The cleverly crafted storyline keeping its audience guessing to what will happen next.

Caught a screening of "Time Addicts" at Monsterfest and was pleasantly surprised by what the filmmakers achieved on a low budget. The cinematography and production design were impressive, giving the film a polished look that exceeded my expectations.
The lead actor's performance was a highlight, delivering lines that had me laughing out loud. The casting and direction were well done, adding depth and charm to the character. I found myself genuinely invested in the characters and their motives, particularly enjoying the emotional depth and connection between the two leads.
The Melbourne vibe and aesthetic added a unique touch to the film, making it feel familiar and relatable. As a local feature, "Time Addicts" showcased a lot of heart and craft, which made it easy to support.
Overall, "Time Addicts" is a testament to what can be achieved with creativity and passion. It's definitely worth a watch for anyone who enjoys thoughtful storytelling and a good performance.

Time Addicts is idiosyncratic, yet so relatable and recognisable to most Australians. We've all met a few folks like Johnny and Denise, whether we wanted to or not. This story about intergenerational abandonment issues and how people of all types can heal and make amends, is a lovely thing to watch. It's definitely told in an unusual way, but the way the story's told is clever and unique. I loved the cross over between comedy and horror, the cast did a great job at keeping me on the edge of my seat. The house most of the film is set in is incredibly decorated for each time period, crazy to think that's all the same house renovated multiple times!
Definitely recommend!

Very cool movie! Lots of surprises in this one, but none felt contrived or forced for the sake of surprise. The set/costume design & direction were awesome, the leads nailed it. Hope to see more from both of them in the future. There was almost an element of comedy, in the absurdity of the story & outrageousness of the characters, but juxtaposed with darkness that anyone who has ever been exposed to hard drugs immediately recognizes. Really enjoyed the non-filtered Australian vernacular, nothing sugar coated here. Not one to watch with grandma, unless she's cool as hell. Overall 10/10 would watch again.

Without trying to describe too much to avoid spoiling how you will interpret the film.
This isn't like anything you have watched before and it breaks away from what the typical person would expect to see in a film. It is not at all predictable.
You'll receive a glance into a sub culture of urban Australia, and if you aren't too familiar, may have some trouble understanding the jargon. A big credit to the actors (and make-up) for accurately portraying the degenerates that I'd encounter in my locality.
Growing up in a similar area I could appreciate the resourcefulness of the director with regards to the cinematography.
You will either love it or and reject it.

Time Addicts! I found this was a really interesting take on time travel. A drug! The cast did amazing! Really like what they did with the characters and their respective arcs throughout the movie.
Seeing how Freya's character was a different person while in the same room was executed very well and it left you wanting to know what was going to happen to bring her to that state!
Also I really think the DP did a great job lighting the house and everyone there, it flowed with the story! Props!
Amazingly entertaining! The movie wraps up great with a great way to bring this unique story to an end.

I was drawn to watching this movie originally by its title name 'time addicts' with curiosity and glee and wasn't disappointed with what I selected to view.
The movie it's self is like Irvine Welsh meets madmax dark humour and it times resonates with current youth culture and will be seen in the future as a historical view to the youth of the day.
For such a small budget and cast I was entertained by the plot and boorish language and banter of the script, though I could imagine not for everyone as the use of tasteful language I could imagine would probably put the viewer off, but stating this this is a comedy future Australia classic that should stand the duration of time as a historical movie of pop culture in 2023.

I watched this movie on a Friday night on Netflix. It was slow to start but when the story picked up I was hooked.
Good movie to watch alone or with friends. This feels like an independent movie and also shot in Australia, near to where I live.
Mixing time travel and drug addiction with a satisfying ending make it worth a watch.
The camera work and background score complements the pacing and mood of the film. The director has kept his shots to sustain longer which adds to the unpredictablility in the screenplay and action. With no big stars the movie still makes it a worthy watch.
Popular Hollywood science fiction movies are edited to give a pacy feel. Time Addicts works more like an art movie than commercial film for me.
Definitely worth a watch.

I was anticipating to watch time addicts at the first and only screening but unfortunately missed it.
Months later after continuously seeing where it's available I see it on Netflix.
It takes a very special film for me to view and feel so many different feelings and emotions and Time Addicts hits the dart on the bullseye perfectly with an incorporation of humour, suspense, tension, mind-bending plot twists, all without feeling too crowded or feeling as if these tones don't belong there.
Time Addicts goes to show that in a swimming pool full of s*** movies, that there's still people out there with a genuine passion to create and tell unique tales. This movie made me feel all different types of feelings and I applaud the team/director heavily for that.
This film is definitely up there in my all time movie tier list!!!
A bizarre, charming, time travelling journey that deserves all the recognition it can get!
10/10 from me.

This script is magical. It's not a magic carpet ride that is for sure if you wish to be entertained in a gritty grimy word play way then open you ears and enjoy this experience. It's a dfinate watch for me.
Johnny's script is so so clever. You know exactly who he is. And he never looses character even when stuck with an under cover. It was perfect.
Thank you Sam Oldman. Hats off to you!!
I would love a copy of this script. I need to read all Johnny's lines... He delivered them so perfectly The house described by Denise as a cnts fairytale... My goddess what a dam line...played twice. You are brilliant Sam.
Thank you thank you thank you.

First, i suggest you go in blind, or immediately after the trailer, and watch at least until they get to the house. I almost turned it off before that and I'm so glad I didn't.
This is a film that I thought would be a typical British sci-fi comedy, if there is such a thing. I thought it would lean more towards humor like "Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel", but this is a pretty serious movie with some well thought out implications. I actually like this better than "Frequently asked Questions...", although it does have some similarities. Without spoiling anything I will tell you that this too occurs in one primary location, and this too has multiple versions, or multiple timelines piling on top of each other.
If you are looking for a good watch that is sci-fi-ish, time travel, then you've got it. I couldn't find a version with captions, and I would have appreciated that in certain parts that are a bit hard to make out, but other than that this was a good flick.

Wow, what a treat! This film is bold, brave and creative!!
Such a treat to watch something fresh and unique.
The film is brilliantly crafted on a low budget but has the looks and feel of a blockbuster! The writing was especially unique and the acting couldn't have been better. Kane and Johnny's characters were a standout for me! The set design and sound complimented all eras perfectly. The twist at the end was unexpected and pulled at the heart strings. A real circle of emotions from the opening scene. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to watch what's next for this epic entourage of crew! Well done!

This film, with its masterful storytelling and compelling characters, kept me on the edge of my seats from start to finish. Skilfully balancing the excitement of time travel with the darker themes of dependency and the cost of meddling with fate. The cinematography is visually stunning, capturing the essence of different eras with meticulous detail. Time Addicts is a must-watch for fans of science fiction and anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, emotionally engaging story. Odlum has created a cinematic gem that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, earning it a well-deserved 9 out of 10.

Time travel has been overdone time and time again (pardon the pun) however this movie has brought a fresh face to the scene. A great concept, very well executed. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I love time travel movies and this was a brilliant bit of cinema.
As someone who loves time travel movies, from the moment I saw the title, I was in; and was not disappointed. It was a very unique experience, of where I was not able to predict what came next fully. It had a perfect loop which was well executed - not many directors can pull off.
This movie left me wanting more and I cannot wait to see what will come next from the director.

This is the perfect sci fi thriller for the ones who grew up around ice heads! It's the perfect comedy with a twist of sadness that made me whipe my tears everytime the boys were watching! I can relate to Johnny as I feel like I'm that funny dude in my friendship group and just wanna make people happy and like me. I love how there's so many twists and turns and I can't predict what happens next. Hope the boys from the government housing towers can get a chance to watch it coz it's truly the life of an inspiring brass monkey. I hope they'll be able to show it at norfies for all da homies! It's a Hektik film n that!

Came into this one knowing nothing. Didn't know it was an Aussie film, which within a few minutes was obvious; accents and gum trees!
The cinematography is excellent and the script is fast paced with some absolute gems of metaphoric brilliance.
The acting is excellent. Aussies familiar with each other are always 'having a go' at each other with deprecatory humour.
Most reviewers are bothered by the swearing, that's how Aussies speak. We are mostly discerning, however socially with our friends we let it rip! It's a cultural difference.
The various acts of the movie blend perfectly and the twists and explanations are subtle nods to regret, choices, redemption and forgiveness.

A film like nothing I have seen, with confronting imagery and ideas - but somehow kept me laughing from start to finish???
Requires a decent sense of grounding and self-knowledge, if there are gaping holes in your metaphysics then probably best to avoid, you will wind up confused overall and negative about some innocuous detail (as the random 1-star reviews exhibit)
The actors are hilarious, the script is pure heat, no wasted time or meandering pseudo-thematic tripe. One scene was probably a bit dark (like, in terms of lighting. The whole thing is dark in another way, but anywho I enjoyed the heck out of it)
