Alycia Debnam-Carey is trading in walkers for Godzilla and Kong. The Fear the Walking Dead alum has become the latest actor to join the cast of the untitled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sequel.

Per Deadline, character details for Debnam-Carey remain under wraps. The actor is best known for portraying Alicia Clark in all eight seasons of The Walking Dead spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead, which aired on AMC from 2015 to 2023. Her other acting credits include the 2014 found footage disaster film Into the Storm, The CW sci-fi series The 100, and the recent Netflix hit Apple Cider Vinegar. The star-studded cast of Guy Ritchie’s crime drama MobLand is adding another notable name.

Janet McTeer will be part of the Paramount+ series, which is set to premiere March 30. The Emmy and two-time Oscar nominee joins an ensemble led be Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.

MobLand centers on a London-based Irish crime family headed by Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan, that’s fighting for power within a global syndicate. Mirren plays his wife, Maeve — “the brains behind the charm,” as Brosnan’s character describes her in the series trailer — and Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the family’s fixer.

McTeer (The Old Man, The Menu) will play a character named Kat, who is “as charming as she is violent,” according to the character’s description. “Crime bosses from London to Beijing are anxious never to cross swords with her.”

The floodgates are opening. The other week, we learned that American actor John Lithgow would play Albus Dumbledore in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter TV show, the first major casting announcement to come out of this series. Now, Deadline has the scoop on a couple more actors circling major roles. We'd already heard that Emmy nominee Paapa Essiedu was close to nabbing the role of Harry Potter's caustic Potions professor Severus Snape; he's now closer than ever, although the deal isn't 100% done just yet. The new face in the crowd is fellow Emmy nominee Janet McTeer, who's up for the role of Transfiguration professor Minerva McGonagall.

McTeer earned her Emmy nomination playing Winston Churchill's wife Clementine in the HBO film Into the Storm, while Essiedu got his starring opposite Michael Coel in the HBO limited series I May Destroy You, playing Kwame. So the both of them are familiar to HBO.

HBO's "Harry Potter" TV series may have just found its Professor Minerva McGonagall, and in the tradition of the late, great Dame Maggie Smith, the character will be played by another decorated actress of stage and screen. Deadline reports that Janet McTeer, the two-time Oscar nominee and Tony Winner who was recently seen in FX's "The Old Man," is "in negotiations" to take on the role.

McTeer has been acting on screen since the 1980s, earning accolades for turns in movies like "Albert Nobbs" and "Tumbleweed" and taking memorable roles in Netflix's "Ozark," "Jessica Jones," and more. It’s official. Brendan Gleeson is set for a major role in the upcoming Spider-Man Noir live-action series at Amazon.

Variety exclusively reported in July based on sources that Gleeson would be a part of the show, but his role has now been fully confirmed. Exact details for Gleeson’s character are being kept under wraps, but he is believed to be playing the main villain.

Gleeson will star alongside series lead Nicolas Cage in the show, which is currently titled “Spider-Noir.” Additional cast members include Lamorne Morris, Abraham Popoola, and Li Jun Li. Rights to the second season of Irish crime drama series “Hidden Assets” have been licensed by Dcd Rights. Buyers include the BBC for the U.K., Sbs and Stan for Australia, TV4 for Sweden and TV2 for Norway.

The 12-part series is produced by Saffron Moon, Facet4Media & Potemkino for Rte, Super Channel & Acorn TV, and was written by Peter McKenna, Morna Regan, Mary Fox and Marthy Thornton. It was co-directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan and leading Belgian director Kadir Ferati Balci (“Cold Courage”). The second season, which had co-funding from Screen Ireland and Creative Europe Media, was first transmitted on Rte Ireland in September this year.

It stars Nora-Jane Noone, Wouter Hendrickx and Simone Kirby. Series One also starred Angeline Ball.

Strong Global Entertainment has acquired branded short form content company Unbounded Media Corporation, which will now operate as a part of Strong Studios. Under the deal, Strong Studios is aiming to get into the production services business in addition to its work developing content for film and TV.

Umc develops, creates and produces film, advertising, and branded content for a broad range of clients; according to its website, that has included Draft Kings, Reebok, Maestro Dobel Tequila, NBA All World and Ibm.

Umc was founded by Peter Odiorne, Larry Swets and Hassan Baqar; the company has been acquired in an all-stock transaction. Sge said its deal for Umc is part of a “broader strategy to acquire a portfolio of multi-disciplined content and services companies.”

Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions.

The deal, first signed in 2018, has seen veteran film producer Garner make Playing with Fire for Paramount Players, which starred John Cena. Currently, he is developing the Rebel Wilson-starring pic Double Fault at Paramount.

“Todd has done it all in this business and really understands how to make crowd pleasing commercial films. He is a great partner to have at Paramount and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes us,” Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group co-presidents Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland said in a statement on Wednesday.

Critics love Martin McDonagh’s new film “The Banshees of Inisherin,” which reunites Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, his two leads from 2008’s black crime comedy “In Bruges” as feuding former friends.

The film had its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, where Farrell won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor and McDonagh won for Best Screenplay. Five years ago, McDonagh won the same award for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” which set the stage for an Oscar in the same category. “Billboards” stars Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell also won Oscars.

Megan Thee Stallion will pull double duty as both host and musical guest next month as “Saturday Night Live” returns for its first three shows of the new season. But first, as “SNL” Season 48 launches on Oct. 1, Miles Teller will make his debut as host for the first time. Brandon Gleeson has also been lined up for his first ever “SNL” hosting stint.

NBC announced on Tuesday that “SNL” will return with three consecutive shows on Oct. 1, Oct. 8 and Oct. 15, featuring three first-time hosts.

First up as host is Teller, who currently stars in the summer blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick,” will open the “SNL” season with musical guest Kendrick Lamar. It’s Lamar’s third time as “SNL” music performer; the Grammy winner currently on tour promoting his new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.”

The following week, on Oct. 8, comes Gleeson, who will also host “SNL” for the first time.
