A typical American guy is coming home from work when there is a nuclear attack. He spends much of the rest of the film trying to help others as well as locate his family. The acting is generally good...the message is a bit on the silly side, though some decent information is given.
Back in the 1950s, the US government sponsored a wide variety of shot films intended to disseminate information as to what to do during a nuclear attack. Some of the information was reasonable, some was patently absurd (such as the film "Duck and Cover" which suggested kids get under their desks at school in order to survive!). This one is not as ridiculous as many but also serves to give a false impression of the survivability of such an attack. By the end, everyone is all smiles, no one is apparently dead and everything is just fine!
