One and Only

"Ding Lei" (Bo Huang) is a veteran boss of the E-Mark street dancing team. His renowned lead dancer "Kevin" (Casper Chu) is a bit of a prima-donna and so when he alights on "Chen Shuo" (Wang Yibo) who is an hard working family lad to come along and help at the practice sessions then divisions soon appear and the battle lines are drawn for the ultimate in dancing challenges at the national championships. The story here is not great - nor, indeed as is the acting nor the writing. What is captivating, though, is the gravity-defying acrobatics as these guys spin, pivot and fly through the air with astonishing skill and dexterity. It's also illustrative of just how this art serves as an aspirational conduit for young men who have little by way of opportunity to escape from the mundanity of their day-to-day lives. Personally, I find Yibo Wang just bit too weedy as an actor - he's actually always a bit of a drip - but essentially this is a triumph for the choreographers art and the adroitness and spontaneity of the dancers that really delivers excitingly for the last twenty minutes.

One of the best, most inspiring street dance comedy I've ever seen.

All stars shine brightly In this movie. I can wholeheartedly feel their passion for street dance and their resilience to negativities. The final 20 minutes are sth really mesmerizing - worth every penny of my ticket and you won't regret your decision. I don't understand why there are so many low ratings but without any negative reviews - does not seem normal ...

YES I would Recommend this movie without any reservation. No matter you like street dance or not, I am sure you will find a lot to feel for and sth worth cheering for and laughing about. I felt really energized after watching and would like to see more people feel the same positivity :)

A perfect example of style combination.

You know Chen is gonna win, you know he' s gonna suffer a lot, going thru ups and downs. Under the pace control and style combination, Re Lie delivers an extraordinarily smooth feeling from start to finish. Dong Chengpeng, a comedian-to-director who have brought out several box office hits which are phenomenal yet differ in themes, has proven himself to be one of the most promising directorial newcomers in Mainland China. Audiences follow the way the story goes, laugh and cry, over and over again. In the end, they find themselves not only witnessing the growth and rebirth of a character, but also the unsurrendered souls inside themselves. A must-see for street dance lovers, and still there's more in Re Lie-even for people who aren't.

A film exceed all my expectations

I watched this movie when I was in Beijing a week ago.

In the fast-paced world we live in, each of us can sometimes become restless, and even a minor setback can lead to complaints about life's unfairness. We complain about not being born into a wealthy or influential family, and lament starting off at a disadvantage.

However, brave individuals always explore the world first. Hopefully, each of us can be as courageous as Chen Shuo in the movie, bravely being ourselves and pursuing our dreams. As the film says, if we never hit rock bottom, how can we bounce back? Indeed, one can avoid death if they don't live, and there's no loss if one doesn't try. If we manage to avoid extreme happiness, we might also escape the onslaught of sorrow. Living fervently and sincerely is the greatest form of self-respect.

Similarly, in this movie, every role, no matter how small, lives with diligence, positivity, and fervor. Especially when Chen Shuo's mother tells him that "no" can also mean "yes." Because mothers only wish for us to live healthily and happily. Although our own mothers might not have spoken those exact words to us, as we grow older, hearing them becomes a way of healing and compensating ourselves.

As we left the movie theater, my friends and I all agreed that "One and Only" is suitable for all ages. It seems to ignite and explode the passion and desires hidden deep within each of us, as well as our dreams and hopes, in whatever way possible.

I had some doubts initially despite recommendations from friends, thinking it might be good, but I never expected it to exceed all my expectations. What possessed Yibo? The three his new films this year are all of high quality, seamlessly blending reality with enchantment. It's exhilarating; this is true passion, true youth.

This film is so energising it will lift you out of your seat!

It is a fabulous movie. I came out of Cineworld in Dublin tonight with a big smile on my face and feeling more energised than I have in years. There are 3 main dance battles but the final one is out of this world. The story zips along throughout, is very easy to follow with subtitling and there are plenty of laughs along the way. Huang Bo is brilliant and Yibo is excellent as the humble Chen Shuo but so handsome! The camera work could be steadier for some of the dancing but was fine for the most important parts and the whole thing was just so well put together, it lit up the evening. Great work, and it was nice to recognise Street Dance China faces too!!

WANG YIBO is One And Only

One and Only is about enthusiasm & dreams of Young boy who is chasing his passionate dreams in difficulties and life hardships.

The story is simple and easy to understand (unlike Hidden Blade which is art-house film)

Some netizens think that due to this is YIBO's core and genre so that he can act really well naturally in movie. But I would like to point out that Chen Shuo and YIBO's characters are totally different personalities, nature, attitudes. Only loving dances and chasing street dance is the same in between them.

Yibo need to overcome and make sure his strong superior rich aura & personality. Because Chen shuo is simple, honest, poor, patient, very humble boy in movie.

So that Yibo shapes this character because this is character Yibo plays as. Yibo is Talented actor so he is acting out Chen shuo diligently.

He makes everyone believes that he is acting in true colours in that role he plays.

It is an actor's ability to make others believe in what he acts in.

There are some heart warming moments after movie is finished, most of Young children came out and danced with credits in front of seatings. This make me so moving and enthusiasm and youthful energy.

Even the person who never watches hip-hop(street dance) & doesn't know the rules of street dance competition, you can understand the last 20 min competition part easily.

Many years later, many people will remember that there was such a street dance movie in 🇨🇳 ,& many people will fall in love with street dance because of this movie.

Before this movie is produced and during Street dance of China shows (SDC), One of bboy said and posted, who witnessed the positive change brought abt by Yibo, that "The street dance circle has never been like this. May be a few years or decades later, when we talk about the development history of domestic street dance, the turning point will be Wang Yibo "

A passion and dream that belongs to ordinary people

I don't know much about street dance, but I can still empathize with the dancers in the movie because they are also a group of ordinary people. Watch this film, you will be affected by the passion in the dancers' hearts, and remember the dreams we gave up before. At the same time, the film will also tell you that sometimes failure is not because you are not good enough, it is OK to fail. There are too many ways to interpret this film, the director is clever, he let every ordinary person can find their own emotional projection area in the film, all the laughter, tears and even the burning point, are so natural, without a trace of deliberate, even the last tear has not ended, the next laugh point comes one after another, directly hit the heart.

Real life world champions in the movie

Only And Only is a light comedy with breakdance as the theme.

Breakdancing is a new event in Asian Games this year and also the coming up Paris 2024 Olympics. Almost the whole Chinese national team and multiple famous world street dance champions are in the final competition in the last part of the movie. I think just the appearance of these professionals already worth a movie ticket.

The final competition at the end of the movie is definitely what audience talks about the most. At times, I did feel a bit dizzy by the moves of the dancers. To me, breaking does resemble gymnastics, but the moves are much faster. There are a lot of jaw-dropping moments during the final competition scenes and I could feel my body temperature rising. Theaters need to turn up the air conditioning for the audience LOL.

Overwhelmed!

I watched this movie on Saturday, many days past, but I can't get everything out of my head. I'm so overwhelmed with everything, storyline, 2 main actors, dance crew, Shou Shou family, so Worth IT! The main actor Shou Shou who Wang- Yibo plays has difficult life however he love breaking dance so he try practise it himself without proper lesson or coach but that not stop him for dream to be a part of dance studio E-Mark! I love how hard he try, how humble, dedicated, everyone around him fully support like his mom, I cry for this beautiful love I will definitely watch it again next weekend! Especially 20mins dance final so breathtaking! I want to rewatch it very soon.

Love the spirit and energy of Yibo and One and Only

Love the story and the dance. Wow! Full of energy and power. I am not an expert on street dance, but it's very easy to enjoy and be drawn into the excitement. I definitely recommend this movie. If the movie theater is not several hours away, I will absolutely go back watch it again and again. If they ever in the future considering make this a cd or dvd for people to buy, it will reach many more people worldwide. Wang Yibo's fan base is far and wide. His dances are very well liked. For people who don't know the casts well, FYI all the dancers are real and achieving dancers including Wang Yibo and Huang Bo. I really enjoyed the movie.

Nailed the street dance

Watched One and only yesterday with my son and we enjoyed it very much!!

The movie is so different than how it's publicized.. the movie actually focuses on street dance culture and a boy's dream !!

Main actor Chen Shou is so pitiful and many young kids who wants to pursue a career in dance culture but don't get the opportunities can relate!! The main theme of the movie..the dance battle!! It's so good!! For a movie made for Asian Game, it's a good one... .

My only complain is wish the editing was better though! I liked how all the characters have their own personalities but none came out because of flat editing.

I will still watch it again as it's good and also I need to finish reading all the subtitles lol.. Overall it's good watch with family and friends and for the street dance!

Heartfelt moments, intense choreography and explosive atmosphere, a stunning film

One and Only speaks to a truth that is as real as it is depressive - circumstance chains even the most talented of individuals. But in a situation in which protagonist Chen Shuo could have given up a million times over, he chooses to fight, and his journey is heartwarming and incredible.

With emotional dialogue and stunning choreography One and Only will captivate you whether you're into street dance or not. Witty lines, intense action and heartfelt struggles and joys come together to form an unforgettable spectacle. One and Only is more than worth a watch, and you are guaranteed to be entertained, touched and thrilled.

A story about enthusiasm and living your dream

I had high expectations for this film and being a fan of Wang Yibo I had been anticipating to see it for over a year. And boy, did it not disappoint!

The story the film tells isn't new by any means: An underdog chases his dream with passion and hard work and succeeds in the end. But while telling this often used story, "One and Only" stays true to the characters, and true to Street Dance. The film has both very fun moments and moments that are touching. It's LOVELY that all the actors of the dance crew are well known street dancers in China--shooting this movie must have felt like a family gathering. This makes the movie authentic, made by the people who love and live what the film is about.

The music is also beautiful, I've been listening to the score since I found it on Spotify two days ago.

The only thing I didn't like is that the dance battles are filmed in a weird and shaky way which distracts from the dancing. But that might be because I prefer dancing to always be filmed with a steady camera, so I can truly admire the movements. But maybe they thought it would match the tone of the movie better to make it "fuller of action".

All in all, "One and Only" is a fun film that will touch its audience. I'm glad that (Chinese) Street Dance culture will forever be remembered with it.

The final battle was absolutely electrifying-off-the-charts intensity!

The strong make choices; the weak are chosen." Enthusiasm is when you throw yourself wholeheartedly into what you love, regardless of success or failure. One and Only is without a doubt one of the top-tier commercial films of this summer season. The screenplay is tightly structured, with clear and coherent emotional beats through the characters' struggles and darkest moments. The film breaks new ground for domestic cinema by diving into the world of street dance, blending grounded, local humor into the narrative. The final dance competition builds layer by layer-from choreography to execution-culminating in an explosive moment of passion from ordinary people showing extraordinary love.

A truly great film no longer simply chases plot or visuals-it creates a two-way emotional resonance between the screen and the audience. It brings real joy and emotion, while awakening something deep inside. This time, it's obvious that Da Peng (the director) has evolved significantly in his craft-his command of cinematic space and pacing is masterful. The story unfolds with rhythm and restraint, while the details are handled with incredible thoughtfulness. Every hidden emotion is tangible, pulling the audience directly into the characters' inner lives. The cinematography and shot composition are top-notch, and the immersive street dance scenes deliver a strong visual and emotional impact.

Wang Yibo, shows a new level of character depth in this role. As a street dance youth, his raw passion and unwavering pursuit of his dream shine through. His character, Chen Shuo, could be seen as a parallel-world version of himself-with belief, growth, and legacy all grounded in reality. The first 100 minutes of the film are a spiritual journey of mutual redemption; the final 20 minutes are pure dopamine.

One More Try: Wang Yibo Dazzles in the Inspiring Dance Movie "One and Only"

"One and Only" is an electrifying dance drama that pulses with raw energy and heartfelt emotion, anchored by Wang Yibo's captivating performance as Chen Shuo, a determined street dancer chasing his dreams. Yibo completely embodies the role-his explosive dance sequences showcase breathtaking athleticism and precision, while his nuanced acting brings depth to Chen Shuo's struggles and triumphs. The character's journey from underdog to champion is both inspiring and deeply moving, with Yibo perfectly capturing Chen Shuo's passion, resilience, and vulnerability. The film's dynamic choreography and high-energy soundtrack make every battle scene unforgettable, but it's Yibo's magnetic screen presence that truly makes *One More Chance* shine. A must-watch for dance lovers and anyone who believes in chasing their dreams!

One and Only

One and Only is an energetic, feel-good dance film that blends passion, perseverance, and personal growth into a heartwarming underdog story. Directed by Da Peng, the film showcases the vibrant world of street dance while exploring themes of self-worth, community, and dreams.

The story follows Chen Shuo (played by Wang Yibo), a young man from a humble background with a passion for dancing, who stumbles into a struggling dance crew led by the eccentric and warm-hearted coach Ding Lei (Huang Bo). Despite challenges and setbacks, Chen finds purpose, family, and confidence through dance.

The film's strength lies in its sincere tone and dynamic choreography. The dance scenes are well-executed, filled with infectious energy, and enhanced by a pulsating soundtrack. Wang Yibo's real-life dance skills shine throughout the film, while Huang Bo brings emotional depth and comedic timing to his mentor role.

Unlike many typical dance films that focus solely on flashy performances, One and Only adds layers of humanity and heart. It portrays the struggles of ordinary people chasing their dreams in a big city, emphasizing resilience and teamwork. While the plot follows a fairly predictable trajectory, the emotional moments feel genuine, and the chemistry among the cast adds warmth.

Visually, the film uses bold colors and fast-paced editing to capture the vibrancy of youth culture. The pacing is brisk, and even though the ending is somewhat formulaic, it delivers a satisfying and uplifting message.

A Heartfelt Journey: 'One And Only' Delivers

In "One And Only," Wang Yibo offers a compelling portrayal that showcases his acting prowess. He steps into the shoes of Chen Shuo, a character who embodies naivety and pure-heartedness, delivering a convincing performance that allows viewers to immerse themselves in Chen Shuo's world.

From the very beginning, Wang Yibo's portrayal captures the essence of Chen Shuo. His expressive face and bright eyes effectively convey the character's innocence and unwavering belief in his dreams. Wang Yibo's ability to convey complex emotions through subtle expressions adds depth to Chen Shuo's character and makes his journey relatable.

What sets "One And Only" apart is the chemistry between Wang Yibo's Chen Shuo and the other characters. His interactions with Coach Ding Lei, his e-mark teammates, and Li Ming Zhu are well-executed, contributing to the authenticity of their relationships. These connections enhance the overall narrative and make it more engaging.

Wang Yibo's performance in "One And Only" is a testament to his dedication to his craft. His ability to fully inhabit the character of Chen Shuo elevates the film and showcases his acting talent. This film not only serves as a platform for Wang Yibo but also offers a heartwarming and inspiring story about dreams and friendship.

"One And Only" is a film worth watching for its heartfelt narrative and the chemistry among its characters. Wang Yibo's performance is a highlight, and it's evident that he has put considerable effort into bringing Chen Shuo to life on screen.

So much more than a dance movie

One and Only is packed with inspirational people and moments. It is explosive dance battles, aesthetic scenes, and beautiful cinematography. It is people living their lives the best they can, and then some. It is pushing boundaries, making hard decisions, grabbing opportunities for better or for worse.

Let's start with Chen Shuo who is kind, filial, hard-working, lovable, unintentionally funny, the list goes on. He loves and protects his family fiercely, always lending a helping hand, stretches his precious moments thin, finding time to dedicate to his love of dance.

Wang Yibo is made for dancing, he inspires such joy and pleasure when he dances.

Even Ding Lei's life can provide teachable moments of human conditions and circumstances. The E-Mark dance crew is loyal to a fault, great to see familiar faces if you have watched a season or two of Street Dance of China.

Overall 10 Story 10 Acting/Cast 10 Music 9.5 Rewatch Value 10.

My favorite dance movie

One and Only tells a seemingly simple story, but beneath the surface lies a rich emotional core that resonates with a wide range of viewers. The film explores a universal truth: while some people achieve success through a combination of talent and hard work, others may work just as hard without reaching the same heights-simply because they lack the innate gift. Yet, the film challenges the notion that success has a single definition. A passionate life-one lived with intensity, purpose, and love for what you do-is just as meaningful as any outward achievement.

Wang Yibo delivers a stunning performance, especially in the street dance scenes. He's not just acting-he can really dance. His battles are electrifying, full of raw energy and precise movement. Those sequences are a true highlight and had the whole theater buzzing.

What's most impressive is how the movie communicates with audiences of all ages. Even my 6-year-old son came out of the theater saying, "If I keep working hard, I'll succeed." That's the magic of a good film-it doesn't just entertain; it leaves a message in your heart.

The shooting technique of the hip-hop part is really good it's so close on the stage The music and various scenes are also in place There are also a lot of unintentional laughs which are natural Not strong provocative

I love chen shuo He is very hardworking and talented and his performance is very natural

I've watched it twice with another friends they like this movie too.

Inspiring!

So I've seen a lot of drance movies over the years and the dancing is usually fun to watch but the acting and story end up being kind of cringey. This movie broke that stereotype for me. The movie centers around a boy by the name of Chen Shuo, played by Wang Yibo, whose passion for dancing and chasing after his dreams is both touching and inspiring. In a way, this movie also reflects the young actor Wang Yibo's own journey chasing after his dream of becoming a dancer and performer at a young age. The dance scenes were so exciting to watch! But I also felt myself tearing up during some of the more emotional scenes.
