As a mandatory rule, every South Korean man must enlist in the military after turning 18. But despite turning 30, Seung-Ho hasn’t announced his enlistment and has continued to work as he has so far.

More recently, Seung-Ho’s agency officially announced his exemption from military service and stated the reason behind it. The actor reportedly couldn’t enlist in the military service like everyone else because of his previous injury. This is the sole reason why he hasn’t taken a hiatus from acting so far.

Is BTS’s agency, Hybe, gearing up for a full-grown transformation in terms of its growth over the next few years? Well, reports suggest something like this. For the unversed, BTS consists of Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, V, Rm, Suga, and J-Hope.

While the uncertainty in the global economy expands, it might affect other industries because of trade conflicts and tariffs, the Korean entertainment industry won’t be that affected. This gives a sheer advantage to companies like Hybe. On one hand, people are waiting for BTS’s comeback in 2026, on the other hand, Hybe is waiting to profit from the band.

As per News 2 Day, Hybe...

10 Dark K-Dramas That Also Have A Comedic Side
Image
There are plenty of great horror and thriller K-dramas, yet some of them managed to add humor and even romance into their story regardless of how dark they were. The best K-dramas are known for their intense plots, somewhat awkward humor, and quirky plot lines. However, many K-dramas are equally entertaining as they are complex and full of depth.

Recent K-dramas with darker themes have performed well in South Korea as well as across the world thanks to streaming. The biggest example is Squid Game, which became Netflix's most-watched show of all time and has yet to be topped. Other recent examples include Sweet Home and Gyeongseong Creature. However, whereas there weren't many laughs in Squid Game season 1, other dark K-dramas found room for humor.

Queen Of Tears Will No Longer Be This Years Best K-Drama After Jung So-mins Upcoming Show Premiers On Netflix
Image
Queen of Tears has been 2024's biggest K-drama so far. Success factors include writer Park Ji-eun and Kim Soo-hyun/Kim Ji-won's performances. Love Next Door, starring Jung So-min and Jung Hae-in, could be this year's "next Queen of Tears."

Queen of Tears is the biggest K-drama hit of 2024, but Jung So-min's upcoming series could take its place. Starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, Queen of Tears takes an unconventional approach by depicting the love story of a couple on the brink of divorce. Every episode brought a new twist, allowing the series to race towards Crash Landing on You's record as Tvn's most-watched K-drama of all time. Queen of Tears' final episode smashes this record by almost three percent, even remaining on Netflix's Global top ten for 15 weeks.

Several factors contributed to Queen of Tears success. Firstly, writer Park Ji-eun is a K-drama mastermind, having written iconic shows...

Known for his intense acting skills, Jung Hae-in's ability to tackle any role makes him a sought-after actor in the industry. The upcoming K-drama will showcase a different side of Jung Hae-in, reversing the roles that have made him famous in the past.

I have always enjoyed Jung Hae-in's approach to acting, and his upcoming K-drama might be one of his most exciting career moves yet. From his debut in the 2014 TV show Bride of the Century to his recent appearance in one of Netflix's best K-dramas, D.P., Jung Hae-in has proven there is no role he cannot handle. He has been praised for his intense acting skills and detailed restraint, which havemade him a highly sought-after actor in the industry. However, there is something about his upcoming...

Netflixs Elite Replacement Is 2024s Most Exciting High School K-Drama
Image
With Elite ending in 2024, Netflix's new show Hierarchy is set to be the perfect replacement, focusing on wealthy high school students. Hierarchy, a South Korean drama, shares dark tones with Elite, exploring mature themes like class differences and violence among teenagers. Expect Hierarchy to be graphic, intense, and dramatic, diving deep into issues such as the wealth gap, making it a strong contender for Elite's spot.

Among Netflix's cache of popular streaming hits, the Spanish teen drama, Elite, is a favorite and has run for seven seasons so far, with an eighth and final season coming in 2024, which means that, unsurprisingly, Netflix has a similar show, a k-drama called Hierarchy, set to replace it. Since 2018, Elite has told the story of a group of working-class students who attend an elite fictional high school in Spain called Las Encinas. The series follows their social and romantic relationships, along with controversial issues such as homosexuality,...

“We were able to make this [investment] decision because we have great confidence that the Korean creative industry will continue to tell great stories,” said the streamer’s co-chief Ted Sarandos at the time of the spending commitment.

K-Dramas vs J-Dramas vs C-Dramas
Image
East Asian cinema and television have been garnering global interest and critical acclaim in the past few decades, especially now that streaming services and platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Viki have been producing or acquiring the rights to many successful South Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dramas. While some fans may have a predilection for K-drama, K-pop music, and Korean lifestyle and cuisine in particular, others prefer Japanese productions because they’re more raw and fast-paced, or fantasy C-dramas for their epic action and artistic aesthetics.

This branched enthusiasm translates well into numbers: the Netflix survival series Squid Game was streamed by more than 142 million households in its first month; the revenge drama The Glory received 8 nominations at the Baeksang Awards and won three; the fantasy and adventure series Secret of the Three Kingdoms secured 14 billion views in 50 days and won Best Television Series at the Tencent Video Star Awards; and...
