That a newly graduated Commissaire would be asked to choose his own posting is remarkably unlikely. That he'd get his choice would be impossible. That's the first hurdle we have to overcome in following this story.
The second is the continual flashbacks to the past that don't fit in to the present day and are just there to try to justify the commissaire's placement. These jolt with the storylines being followed in the present-day investigations.
It all comes together in the last episode, but in an incredibly contrived manner, which links Julia's ex-cop father to a current investigation.
I could have done without the teenage love affair background and might have enjoyed better some simple crime solving. Having said that, the crimes in many of the episodes were so outlandish that they were simply not susceptible to being followed easily.
OK, I watched to the last episode so four stars. I still felt cheated of my time though.
