Action and martial arts icon Donnie Yen continues to thrill audiences all over the globe, and one of his best movies is now finding renewed success on free streaming. Released back in 2008, Yen takes the lead in Ip Man, which tells the story of the Wing Chun grandmaster who would go on to teach the legendary Bruce Lee. Detailing Ip Man’s early life during the Sino-Japanese War, and his battles with going outside of tradition, Ip Man has now entered the top 10 on free streaming service Tubi, as fans tune in to watch the unmatched skills of the John Wick star.
Directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen as the title character alongside Simon Yam, Lynn Hung, Lam Ka-tung, Xing Yu, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, and Tenma Shibuya, Ip Man features martial arts choreography by fellow genre icon Sammo Hung. The movie was met with rave reviews upon release, and...

The "Ip Man" movies represent some of the most fun you can have with the martial arts genre. The franchise is loosely based on the life of the actual Ip Man (or Yip Man), a Chinese martial arts grandmaster who specialized in the art of Wing Chun, and whose most famous student was Bruce Lee, the star of the incredible martial arts action film "Enter the Dragon." The main movies in the property are directed by Wilson Yip and star Donnie Yen as the titular character. Yen played Ip Man for more than a decade in-between giving us one of the best "Star Wars" characters ever in Chirrut Îmwe from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," as well as one of the best fights in the "John Wick" films.

The Rotten Tomatoes score has arrived for The Prosecutor, and Donnie Yen's six-year streak remains intact. Featuring Yen in the director's chair on top of being the star, The Prosecutor follows a former prosecutor as he helps a young man who has been wrongly accused of drug trafficking, uncovering corruption at every turn. The movie marks Yen's follow-up to Sakra (2023) and to John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023), the latter of which saw him playing blind assassin Caine opposite Keanu Reeves.
Accompanying the movie's release on January 10, The Prosecutor has now debuted on Rotten Tomatoes to an impressive score of 93% with 15 reviews, as of writing. Though this score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, it marks another in a long line of Yen movies that have earned the "Fresh" designation, including Sakra, John Wick: Chapter 4, Raging Fire (2021), Mulan (2020), Enter the Fat Dragon (2020), and Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019). One of the most tragically unsung heroes in action movies, Scott Adkins, has declared that he would love to return to one of his most popular martial arts franchises. Known for roles in the likes of Ninja, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, Ip Man 4, The Expendables 2, and John Wick: Chapter 4, the character that put Adkins on the map of many an action movie fan is that of the most complete fighter in the world, Yuri Boyka. And Adkins wants to return to the ring for more.
Answering fans questions on X/Twitter recently, Adkins responded to the idea of returning as Boyka in an Undisputed 5. Introduced back in 2006s Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, Yuri Boyka began life as the villain, going up against Michael Jai Whites more heroic ex-boxer as the pair are forced to fight while serving time in a Russian prison. Over the course of four Ip Man movies, Donnie Yen's character faced off with a multitude of formidable challengers. Some were close to home, while others were foreigners skilled in forms of fighting unfamiliar to Master Ip. Whether it was his own reputation that was attracting attention or someone else forcing Ip's hand, he was constantly contending with fellow martial artists of varying skill levels and overcoming great challenges.
Some were beaten rather effortlessly, while others were strong enough to deliver some of the Ip Man franchise's best fights. The latter, of course, generally stand out as among the most talented fighters in the Ip Man movies. Interestingly, though, it would seem that the strongest out of all his opponents was not even a main antagonist or someone who was included in the climax of a film.

Ip Man 5 with Donnie Yen is confirmed and may rectify Master Law's past defeats in the franchise. Lo Mang, a former martial arts star, deserves a huge win in Ip Man 5 to honor his legacy. The film should pay homage to Lo Mang's Shaw Brothers movies by showcasing his unique fighting style.
An insult to a kung fu movie legend can finally be rectified if one supporting character returns for Ip Man 5. The martial arts movie franchise appeared to reach a conclusion with Ip Man 4: The Finale's ending, but it's since become apparent that even the death of the titular character hasn't killed the series. Somehow, though, Ip Man 5 is happening regardless.

Donnie Yen has inked a deal to reprise his role as Caine, the highly skilled, blind assassin introduced in John Wick: Chapter 4, in a new film from Lionsgate set to shoot in Hong Kong next year, the studio announced on Wednesday.
While the logline is being kept under wraps, the new film will continue Yen’s story arc following the events of Chapter 4, as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.
The new film was developed as part of Chad Stahelski’s recently announced deal with Lionsgate to oversee the expansion of the John Wick universe and will be shepherded by franchise producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee (John Wick: Chapters 1 through 4) for Thunder Road and Stahelski through his 87Eleven Entertainment banner.

Any action fan, or even dedicated viewer of Corridor Crew's "Stuntmen React" series, should know the name Scott Adkins. Long before Adkins went all out for his role as German gangster Killa Harkan in "John Wick: Chapter 4," the British stunt performer and actor made a name for himself working as a stuntman for prominent Hong Kong action directors in the early 2000s. He went on to appear in dozens of action movies, from starring opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in four separate films to doubling for Ryan Reynolds' Weapon XI in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." For his role as Gunnery Sergeant Barton Geddes in 2019's "Ip Man 4: The Finale," Adkins said star Donnie Yen — who also faced off against Keanu Reeves in "John Wick: Chapter 4" — requested him for the film by name.
Having remained somewhat of a B-movie action star for most of his career, Adkins is finally starting to get more mainstream recognition.

The Ip Man series features some of the best hand-to-hand action scenes in modern cinema. Ip Man faces a variety of opponents in different styles, showcasing his versatile skills. The best fight is between Ip Man and Master Hung in Ip Man 2, a legendary battle of skills.
The Ip Man series has some of the 21st century's best hand-to-hand action scenes, with their best fights standing out from almost anything else in modern cinema. The series focuses on Ip Man, a real-life Wang Chun Martial Arts Master. Played by Donnie Yen in the movies, Ip Man is a patient and kind man who nevertheless possesses the skills and will of a true warrior.
His greatest challenges range in combat style, all while Ip Man survives Japan's occupation of China in World War II, the efforts of corrupt foreign interests to abuse and mock Martial Arts, and the challenges of moving to the United States.

Martial arts movies often focus on showcasing the bone-breaking action and impressive fighting skills of different martial arts styles. Bruce Lee was one of the first influential martial artists to introduce martial arts to a Western audience, but many other talented actors like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen have since followed in his footsteps. Each major martial arts style has had its own definitive cinematic representation, such as Tony Jaa's Muay Thai skills in Ong Bak, Bruce Lee's portrayal of Kung Fu in Enter the Dragon, and Ralph Macchio's karate skills in The Karate Kid.
While some action movies mix all manner of martial arts styles, there are others that highlight one and become the definitive cinematic portrait of this art form. Martial arts is used as a catch-all term to refer to a wide variety of combat sports and self-defense practices, but many of their...

Ip Man 5 could be a spin-off that focuses on characters inspired by Ip Man, exploring their journeys and possibly featuring Ip Man in a supporting role through flashbacks. Donnie Yen will return as Ip Man in Ip Man 5 despite the character's death in Ip Man 4, presenting a surprise for martial arts fans. It's safe to assume that Donnie Yen's appearance in John Wick: Chapter 4 was the first time many had seen this amazing action star in motion. While his brawl with Keanu Reeves was a sight to behold, Yen has had a lengthy history in the action genre, pumping out stellar film after stellar film that not only shows off his martial arts prowess but also tells compelling stories on top of it. Arguably one of his most successful ventures is Ip Man, a series chronicling the life of the eponymous Wing Chun grandmaster who famously mentored the late Bruce Lee.
Now spanning over four entries over a decade, the announcement of another mainline Ip Man film both surprised and stunned some. While it'll be a while before we see Yen on the big screen again, there's no better time to invest yourself in the grandiose story of Ip Man.

To the shock of fans of the franchise, Ip Man 5 is officially in development. The question is...how? Not only did the last installment, Ip Man 4: The Finale, imply it was the final film by literally featuring the words "The Finale," but the movie also concludes with Master Ip (Donnie Yen) passing away from cancer. Despite this, it was announced at the Cannes International Film Festival and by series star Donnie Yen on Instagram that the story of Ip Kai-man, the Wing-Chun master who trained Bruce Lee, would continue with a fifth entry.

Martial arts and stunt legend Scott Adkins got a chance to really go for it with his role in "John Wick: Chapter 4." After bugging franchise director Chad Stahelski for years to cast him in an actual role, the English stunt performer finally got his moment in the spotlight, playing the German head of the High Table, who's basically the bad boss at the end of the video game, Killa Harkan.

The label "direct-to-video" used to be a death knell for filmmakers and movie fans alike. In the early days of home video, the term typically referred to features that weren't good enough to get theatrical distribution, causing studios to subsequently dump them onto the shelves of Blockbusters and Hollywood Videos, where — via gaudy box art, ridiculous taglines and/or highlighting the name of a slumming movie star or a legit celebrity (who would likely only have a cameo role) — they would try to entice naïve renters to check it out.

Outside of his "Rogue One" appearance, Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen is best known for leading the "Ip Man" franchise, where he plays an exaggerated version of the titular Wing Chun grandmaster. The movies were big enough to transcend their Hong Kong roots and become popular globally, with bombastic fight scenes that made a point of going beyond standard combat choreography to play up the real-life Ip Man's legacy as a Chinese national hero — causing some controversy in the process.
The series had Yen's Ip Man facing off against everyone from 'Iron' Mike Tyson to British stunt performer extraordinaire Scott Adkins — who played a US Marines Corps gunnery sergeant in "Ip Man 4: The Finale." Now, Yen and Adkins will appear together in the upcoming "John Wick: Chapter 4," which looks set to push the Hong Kong action star even further than the "Ip Man" franchise ever did.

Since 2008, Donnie Yen has been dispatching all manner of foes in the Ip Man franchise. But his most dangerous encounter may well have been when he faced off against Mike Tyson in the third installment.
Based on the life of Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man, the franchise stars Yen in the title role and loosely tells Ip Man's story. The first film, which earned its place as one of the great kung fu movies, depicts his early days in Foshan during the Sino-Japanese War, while "Ip Man 2" finds Yen's hero in 1940s Hong Kong where he faces down British police. By the time it came to the third film, Yen, who also appeared in "Rogue One" and Disney's live-action "Mulan" remake needed something a little more formidable to face down. Enter Iron Mike.

Donnie Yen's Ip Man movies showed the most important character trait of the kung fu master. The Ip Man martial arts movie series tells the epic, albeit heavily fictionalized, tale of the famed Grandmaster of Wing Chun. Many also know Ip Man for his role as a martial arts mentor to Bruce Lee in his youth, while the Ip Man films showcase the strength of Wing Chun kung fu as a martial art.
The cinematic version of Ip Man portrayed by Donnie Yen in the film series is a near-invincible fighting machine, capable of swiftly overpowering most of his opponents. Ip Man has also fought numerous enemies who have been strong martial artists in their own right and who have given him very challenging fights. Though Ip Man has defeated all the villains of the Ip Man franchise's many fight scenes, a telling trait about him is that he...

Evidently, after “Ip Man 4” (Ip Man 3 for some) the franchise took the road downhill, with a number of productions that were shot for VOD, in an effort to cash in from the popularity of the titular character. “Ip Man and Four Kings” is one of those titles, and probably the worst entry in the whole series.
With an introduction that is a direct rip-off of “The Grandmaster” , the movie introduces us to the Master of Wing Chun once more, this time in 1950, where he is still the most renowned teacher in the city, respected by both colleagues and everyday people. When a new school opens, however, backed by a local kingpin and his Western sponsors, the harmony that Ip Man has achieved is threatened once more. Taking advantage of the weakness of one of his students for gambling, Zheng Delong, the leader of Kowloon Walled City, manages to frame Ip Man,...

Netflix has revealed its most popular non-English language films and TV series in the U.S., with the list containing an interesting mix of titles from Europe, Asia and South America, plus a few surprises.

"Some people use it to fight and kill. Some people use it for self-improvement. And as for me, I use it for justice." Magnolia Pictures has debuted an official US trailer for yet another Ip Man movie, this one titled Ip Man: Kung Fu Master. This martial arts extravaganza stars Donnie To as the Ip Man, Bruce Lee's legendary kung fu tutor, his third time playing this role (including The Legend Is Born: Ip Man in 2010 and Kung Fu League in 2018). This film isn't connected to the Donnie Yen series of Ip Man films, most recently with Ip Man 4: The Finale just last year. Set before the Communist Revolution in 1949, during his time as a police captain in Foshan, Ip Man is targeted by a vengeful gangster just as the Japanese army invades the region. The film's cast also features Michael Wong, Wanliruo Xin, and Dongfeng Yue. All the fights look badass,...

The summer of 2020 looks to go down in the history books as the time Netflix truly established their dominance over the fantasy genre, with the streaming service releasing a steady stream of both movies and TV shows that have taken over their most-watched list and generated plenty of buzz in the process.
The Old Guard is already one of their ten most popular movies ever and is projected to rack up 72 million streams in its first four weeks of being available, while Warrior Nun has reportedly already been renewed after turning out to be a huge success. Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated second season of The Umbrella Academy arrives in a matter of days to add the final exclamation point, but Cursed isn’t showing any signs of falling out of favor anytime soon, and is still the most-viewed scripted TV show on Netflix.

For only the second time in the five months of parallel theatrical/Video on Demand releases, one film led grosses both in available theaters and on at least one home viewing chart. Dave Franco’s “The Rental” (IFC) grossed $404,000 in 250 theaters, two thirds of them drive-ins, to easily best several library titles made available this week. “The Karate Kid” (1984) was #2 with about half that gross from a larger number of theaters.
The horror thriller, starring Dan Stevens and Alison Brie, about two couples at a vacation rental facing unexpected terror, also placed #1 on Apple TV’s list of most viewed titles. With the film only released on Friday (too late for inclusion on other current charts), this is likely only a harbinger of more success as other lists are updated.

The Coronavirus pandemic may still be continuing to devastate the entertainment industry, with plenty of movies packing up and heading to 2021 as the sense of uncertainty surrounding theaters around the world continues, but Netflix seem to be making the most of the opportunity presented by having millions of people largely confined to their homes for the last four months.
Unsurprisingly, viewership numbers are up across the board for all of the major streaming services, and as the industry leader, Netflix has been leading the charge by releasing a series of acclaimed original projects that have been racking up huge numbers like Extraction, The Old Guard, Warrior Nun and Cursed.

Donnie Yen might be best known to general audiences for his supporting roles in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, but the 56 year-old has been one of Hong Kong cinema’s biggest stars for decades with a string of critical and commercial hits under his belt.
