When it starts you'll probably think men are trash, and later on realize women are trash too, maybe even worse for lashing out at their husbands for the exact same thing they're doing. The story has a very simple premise and it's lighthearted with several laughable moments that make it worth watching, it's not supposed to be taken seriously. Probably would have gained a little more popularity if it was British or American made.
This film essentially centers around two men named "Rudolf" (Bolek Polivka) and his son-in-law "Ondrej" (Jiri Machacek) who are both married and live in Prague. As it so happens, Rudolf is having multiple affairs and although Ondrej knows about them has kept this news from both his mother-in-law "Marta" (Simona Stasova) and his wife "Alice" (Petra Hrebickova). Then one day, while both of them have gone to play pool, a new prospective mistress for Rudolf by the name of "Carlotta" (Vica Kerekes) playfully puts her undergarments in the pocket of Ondrej's jacket and when Alice discovers it he naturally blames Rudolf. Alice then tells Marta and things take on a new life after that. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was a fairly good comedy for the most part which benefitted greatly from the exotic location. Admittedly, it wasn't as light-hearted as I would have liked and it seemed a bit uneven at times but even so it was entertaining enough and for that reason I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
Watching this movie left me with a wonderful feeling, as it's rare to find a comedy that isn't superficial these days. I truly enjoyed it and was impressed by the performances of the actors, as well as the screenplay.. I laughed a lot and didn't feel any boredom throughout.
This film tackles the subject of infidelity between spouses in a unique and humorous way, while also maintaining a sense of seriousness. It didn't fall into silliness or trivialize matters, and it made me love all the characters in the story and understand their actions, even their flaws.
It's an outstanding film, and I invite everyone to watch it.

This movie made me laugh out loud more times than I even expected. I had a bit disbelief when it started in a foreign language (Czech) but it seriously over-delivered. The acting was very natural I loved that you can see The genuineness in the actor's eyes. The director was creative so it stands out from the whole lot in the market. Every scene was well planned, well executed and visually appealing (even without 'the scenes'). The character arcs are similar for both the MEN and it's well justified. There are a lots of twists and moments that make you spill the water 50 meters far from your mouth because of the hard laughs. Not one thing in the whole movie felt forced nor for the characters nor for the audience. I really appreciate the Director for making it weirdly wholesome given the premise and for making it so simple yet beautiful of a movie.
First of all, Vica Kerekes is unbearably hot. As a man, this is one of the reasons i liked this movie, but to be honest, she is so hot that i couldn't even concentrate on the movie. So, her presence here was something like a double-edged sword.
In a more serious tone : MEN IN HOPE is a movie that could never be made nowadays in Hollywood. And that by itself is a big positive. This is an absolutely realistic -for good or for bad- comedy/romance movie. And honest. I empathized with the characters and i loved the fact that it didn't present men as monsters and women like Saints, or vice versa. MEN IN HOPE keeps it real. Both men and women are really flawed. Both men and women are patient, lovable and admirable.
I liked this movie a lot. Actors were very good, there were some nice twists and turns, it wasn't hilarious but it was funny. And, as i said previously, it was totally realistic.
Not a great movie, not a movie which i will never forget, but i enjoyed it : Not a boring moment even though it is a 2 hours movie.

- TriviaIn the scene where Sarlota (Vica Kerekes) is introduced, she risks accidentally exposing more than desired for various reasons. 1. The dress she wears is extremely low cut, exposing her bare legs and barely covering her butt. 2. She takes off her underwear in that scene and isn't seen putting it back on. 3. She repeatedly bends over and lifts her legs, lifting the short skirt of her dress in the process. But despite that, she never does expose more than her legs.
