Slawomir Sobala in Putin (2025)

Trivia

Putin

Edit
Slawomir Sobala who is playing Putin is known in Poland as a "Putin-look-a-like" and performed him since 2012 in various TV shows and stage productions, e.g. in "La Trashiata" by Alison Jackson. In a video message he presented his support for Ukraine.
The John Milton quote that is shown at the beginning of the movie is from Milton's epic poem "Paradise Lost" Book 1, released in 1667.
The actual childhood of Vladimir Putin in Metekhi, that is shown early in the movie is uncertain. While in his official biography Putin doesn't Mention Metekhi. He claims to been Living in Leningrad his whole time with his mother Mariy Ivanovna Putina before in 1960 he moved to his grandparents, other Sources tell, like in the movie, that his mother was Vera Nikolaevna Putina who lived in Metekhi and in 1999 claimed in an Interview with The Telegraph that she is the real mother of Vladimir Putin.
In Ukraine, where the movie had its world premiere, the movie was released as "The Death of Putin - The story of a pathetic dictator". The title can be seen as a reference to La Mort de Staline (2017).
