Was a big fan of the first movie back in the days. But this movie destroys the whole charm of the first one. Really: every actor play like it was their first movie without acting classes, casted directly from street. Dialogs are very bad and sound very memorized without emotions. Sorry about that, could have been more.
Plot is dumb and very constructed. They should have left out the dialogs between Till and his daughter, because they are full of cliche and come over very unnatural.
Would have given 1 point, but soundtrack fixes a lot for me. The only point that gets the vibe from the first movie.

Of course this is a box office hit in Germany. Til Schweiger delivers what his fans want to see from him. A fart joke comedy with little to no story, no buildup, no grown, underdeveloped character strings and basically what German movie fans love to see. Great actors in underwhelming roles who don't get a chance to deliver any depth at all.
It's a cute story, some wise words get dropped occasionally, and I'm sure everyone will get at least 2 good laughs in, even women, considering how overly sexist and offensive some of the jokes are. I truly wish they'd have had at least one "aware", "cultural" or just "not ancient" person in this 7 men team of writers.

Did this movie get posted on a "we hate til schweiger" message board? I mean how did this get a 2.9?
It's far from great. The story is yuk, the cast is one big white wash, the jokes are very on the nose for the most part, but come on!
Technically it is very well above German standards. The actors aren't bad at all the script just doesn't allow for anything great.
I'm sure everybody who watches the movie openly will get some laughs off it.
But the movie got so many 1 and 2 ratings, people are acting like it is krass Klassenfahrt, but it is not nearly as bad.
I was pretty torn between giving it a 4 and a 5, but I went with the 4 because it could have easily been much better.

So the dialogues could have been much better. The acting is also pretty mediocre. The story is pretty lame and uninterestingly told, but I got some good laughs in. It's supposed to be a comedy and in that regard it certainly works.
The camerawork is fantastic. The sound design is great. The music sucks in my opinion for the most part, but other than that well I had fun in the cinema. It's an enjoyable movie for a broad audience.
I appreciate Til Schweiger way more in these kind of movies than him playing the depressed old guy. The movie had no depth, which always works in Germany for bigger audiences.
Just my personal opinion. Looking forward to the 3rd installment.

The first Manta movie was a must-see back in its day. The car tuning scene was in full swing, street racing was more present in entertainment, and D&W were in their hey days. Bochum/B1 was the place to be as a car guy back then.
This movie isn't nearly as iconic or relevant as the first one. And it's not trying to be.
It's good to see the actors from the original movie, but their dialogues, characters and overall plot development are just not up to modern standards. This movie could have been so much more, with a stronger focus on the modern cat culture, with a different brand engagement strategy.
Too bad nobody cared enough to realize all of it.
Coincidentally, the Ruhrpott also went downhill along with the local cult icons of former times.
