Horror and Indie Enthusiast Approved

Yes, this movie is strange and surreal, cast on a low budget and shot in black and white. However, if you are as horror genre and Indie movie obsessed as I am, you can't help but to see the suspenseful nuances that keep you hooked to every scene. Brooding, dark, and artsy with a nod to Lynch sprinkled in, this movie does not disappoint unless you prefer straight forward, basic blockbusters. Otherwise, sit back and be prepared to let The Raker House unfold like a modern interpretation of Dadaism mashed into a fractured fairytale. Warning: this movie is spooky and its imagery will haunt you long after its over.

Beautiful/Bizarre visual leave you unsettled

When you have a great idea/story for a movie the budget is irrelevant.

What the filmmakers did with this movie is nothing short of amazing. Solid performances, unsettling horror visuals, and a story filled with twists and turns. It reminds me of a Kubrick or Lynch type story. Hints are layered with the visual and story that it begs for multiple viewings to fully grasps everything being thrown at you.

Covert has a unique and interesting vision that involves the macabre and horror. The directing is subtle in this film as he doesn't tell you what the story is about but hints at it. Modern day films are filled with so much exposition that it insults the viewers intelligence. This film challenges you to figure out what is going on and that isn't a bad thing. We feel the enigma that the main character is trapped in. Told from a subjective view we are just as puzzled as the main character which is masterfully revealed at the end.

Covert is one filmmaker to keep your eye on as he has a truly unique voice and isn't afraid to break conventional filmmaking rules to tell his story.

Low budget movie

This movie was made with a very low budget and one can tell. It's not fair to judge a movie on the basis of that alone, but it does hurt the experience of wathing it, so therefore I will mention it.

This a black and white movie about a woman and a man and it is quite the extraordinary, bizar story. The actors are kinda interesting as well, in a quirky, weird way, but the good news ends there.

Just being a weird story, with weird characters isnt enough for me to stay engaged. The direction is kinda long in the tooth, without and spark or punch.

There is no magic. No thrill. I dont get engaged at all by watching these cardboard characters.

It felt like I was looking at an experimental filmschool movie, not a real feature movie...
