The last thing Peter wants is for anyone to be scared of him, but a fan-made movie poster puts an amazing horror twist on one of the darkest periods in Spider-Man's history, and the best part is that it completely works with the subject material.

This fantastic fan art by Instagram artist @bosslogic is actually a mock horror movie poster based on The Last Exorcism Part II and is even scarier than the original. While the original movie deals with an innocent girl being taken over by a demon, the artist recontextualizes the poster by using Spider-Man and his iconic black suit, a brilliant twist that really plays on the horror of Spider-Man's Venom form.

Prey for the Devil 2 is not confirmed yet, but with Daniel Stamm's history of making sequels, it's not impossible. Most characters from the original film, including Sister Ann, could come back for the sequel. While no story details have been revealed, Prey for the Devil 2 could pick up where the first film left off, with Sister Ann continuing her fight against evil.

Not a companion piece to Unseen, The Unheard is a new Shudder Original that combine the talents of Jeffrey A. Brown, who previously directed The Beach House and writers Michael and Shawn Rasmussen whose credits include Crawl and The Ward. It’s the story of Chloe who caught meningitis and spent six months in a coma as a child. She awoke to find that she had lost her hearing.

More importantly, she had lost her mother as well. She disappeared without a trace during those months. She and her father moved to Maine and she’s tried to put it behind her and get on with her life.

A few weeks ago, we learned that Lachlan Watson, who was recently seen playing Glen and Glenda on season 2 of the Chucky TV series, had teamed up with Jeffrey A. Brown, who made his feature directorial debut with a solid horror film called The Beach House (read our review Here), for a new horror movie called The Unheard. The Unheard will be available to watch through the Shudder streaming service in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand as of March 31st – and with that date creeping up on us, a trailer for the movie has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Scripted by Crawl writers Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen, The Unheard follows 20-year-old Chloe Grayden, who after undergoing an experimental procedure to restore her damaged hearing, begins to suffer from auditory hallucinations seemingly related to the mysterious disappearance of her mother.

Blumhouse is a household name among horror fans. The studio, founded by the eponymous Jason Blum, is a frequent producing partner of James Wan and helped launch the directing career of Jordan Peele by producing "Get Out." The studio has a track record of both reviving dormant horror staples, whether it be "Halloween" or "The Invisible Man," and creating new ones, such as this year's "M3GAN."

The Blumhouse catalog is not entirely horror, though. In 2014, the studio produced "Whiplash" alongside "Paranormal Activity" and "The Purge" sequels. Some might argue that the former film, about an aspiring drummer Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller) enduring "Full Metal Jacket" style abuse from his instructor Terence Fletcher (Jk Simmons) is a flavor of psychological horror. Still, compared to Blumhouse's usual output, it's a grounded drama.

Following a massive start last weekend, accompanied by solid critical reviews and audience response, Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog is looking at a another weekend atop the box office. The young director’s career took a significant step into the mainstream with La La Land in 2016, which saw Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling rack up Oscar nominations galore as they sung and danced their way through Los Angeles. In addition to sitting in the director’s chair, Chazelle also acted as a writer for both releases, and has also lent his scripting talents to 10 Cloverfield Lane and… The Last Exorcism Part II.

Damien Chazelle has had one of the most interesting (and fastest) career rises in recent Hollywood memory. Only a few years ago, he worked on screenplays for horror movies like The Last Exorcism Part II (he also had a hand in 10 Cloverfield Lane), but the 32-year-old filmmaker now has an Oscar for his directing of La La Land, which followed his previous critical hit, Whiplash.

Ed Gass-Donnelly left a huge impression on me a few years ago with the release of Small Town Murder Songs (review), a little Canadian thriller with Peter Stormare in a rare leading role.

The movie garnered Gass-Donnelly a lot of attention including being named one of Variety's "10 Directors to Watch" in 2011 which lead Gass-Donnelly to head to Hollywood to direct The Last Exorcism Part II. That movie turned out to be a disaster but Gass-Donnelly has persisted, taking it as a learning experience and continuing to make movies on his own terms.

The companies plan to release the film exclusively on Dish on February 3, 2017 one month before it hits theaters and VOD on March 3. Canadian director Ed Gass-Donnelly arrived on the scene in 2010 with the outstanding Small Town Murder Songs (review). It wasn't his first film but by that point, it was clear that he was ready for the next big step.

That seemed to come with The Last Exorcism Part II except that movie failed to deliver anything of interest so Gass-Donnelly packed it up and headed back North and in the last few years, has co-directed a short film and released another movie, one that looks to be more in line with the talent on display in Small Town Murder Songs.

At this point, Damien Chazelle is poised to potentially make history by becoming the youngest best director winner in the history of the Academy Awards. While the Oscar nominations for the 2017 ceremony haven’t been announced yet — those will arrive on January 24 — all signs are pointing towards this filmmaker taking home the coveted golden statuette. Will it happen?

Chazelle — who also wrote the modern-day musical starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling — has already won the Critics’ Choice Award for best director and is nominated for top honors at both the Golden Globe Awards and the Satellite Awards, too. The film itself — considered the biggest threat in the best picture race at the Academy Awards this Oscar season plus many others — has already won a slew of accolades from film festivals and critics alike.

I've got a teaser trailer here for you to check out for an upcoming horror film called Lavender starring Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch, Limitless). 

Cornish plays a woman named Jane who loses her memory after a car accident. Her doctor recommends she return to her childhood home to help kickstart her memory, and it's there that she begins to have unpleasant childhood memories and she starts to see unexplained things.

It's a really short trailer and doesn't give us much, but I like what I see. Hopefully it turns out to be a decent horror flick. The movie was written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Ed Gass-Donnelly, who previously made This Beautiful City, Small Town Murder Song, and The Last Exorcism Part II.

I fell hard for director Ed Gass-Donnelly after seeing his sophomore feature Small Town Murder Songs (review). Gass-Donnelly didn't quite manage to meet the high bar set for himself with the pedestrian and completely forgettable The Last Exorcism Part II but it looks like he's back on track with his latest.

Lavender stars Abbie Cornish as Jane, a woman who loses her memory after a car accident. Her doctor recommends she return to her childhood home in an effort to jog her memory but the trip brings back childhood memories she'd rather forget.

Admittedly it's not a new concept but Cornish is a great actress and Gass-Donnell [Continued ...]...

I have no doubt that one day gifted visual storyteller Ed Gass-Donnelly will make a brilliant work. With four features under his belt, including This Beautiful City, Small Town Murder Songs, The Last Exorcism Part II and now Lavender, he’s shown tremendous promise capturing haunting images that externalize the internal conflicts, horrors and phobias of their subjects. His latest is a meditative horror film that, despite masterful visual direction and captivating performances, falls back on familiar horror/thriller tropes, courtesy of the screenplay by Gass-Donnelly and Colin Frizzell. Students of the genre will be far ahead, although they may admire the muted, understated style even if you how the blocks will fit together.

Abbie Cornish (Robocop) and Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County) have signed on to star in psychological thriller Lavender, directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (The Last Exorcism Part II). Principal photography is slated to begin later this month in Toronto.

Cornish will play a photographer struggling with severe memory loss following an accident. Strange clues amongst her photos begin to suggest that she may be responsible for the deaths of family members she never knew she had.

Ever since Whiplash, a film about an aspiring jazz drummer and his vicious instructor, made its debut as the opening film at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, writer-director Damien Chazelle has been surrounded by Oscar chatter for his second feature.

Indiewire’s James Rocchi said the film was “full of bravado and swagger, uncompromising where it needs to be, informed by great performances.” And The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg said the film has been surrounded in “intense and passionate discussion and debate…and that can only be a good thing for a little movie like this one.”

It won both the grand jury and audience awards for dramatic film at Sundance and has since received Independent Spirit Award, Satellite, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe nominations. Though Whiplash has established Chazelle as a “notable talent,” his film had an unlikely journey to the big screen.

Damien Chazelle, whose critically-acclaimed drama Whiplash hits theaters next month, has signed on to direct the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man for Universal Pictures.

Josh Singer (The Fifth Estate) has been tapped to write the adapted screenplay, based on James R. Hansen's book First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong. The author was granted full access to Neil Armstrong's family and Nasa when he wrote the book.

Before he made history as the first man to step on the moon in 1969, Neil Armstrong flew 78 missions as a Navy pilot before the age of 23. He also served as a test pilot in the 1950s before moving to Nasa in the early 1960s. He quickly rose through the ranks at Nasa to lead the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

Pivot centres on a scientist, who invents a device to access parallel universe after his wife is killed.

Lotus’ Jim Seibel and Bill Johnson will produce with DJ Gugenheim and Ara Keshishian of Lotus on board as executive producers alongside Gass-Donnelly, who directed The Last Exorcism Part II (pictured).

ICM Partners and Jennifer Levine at Untitled represent Donnelly and brokered the deal.

Gugenheim will oversee the project for Lotus Entertainment, whose slate include the imminent Toronto world premiere Maggie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin.
