Mary Bremier (Grandma) was 95 years old when filming the movie. Her part was shot in five days around March 2023. She sadly passed away 8 months later on Thanksgiving. Thankfully she saw the final cut of the movie at a special screening for AFM on November 3rd 2023 - exactly 20 days before her passing.
The coffin used in the film was built by Kate Mueller, the director's wife.
The film was shot in 19 days plus one day for drone shots.
There was no actor's casting. All of the main cast consisted of close friends to Guile Branco. The two exceptions were Lynn Lowry (Angela), which was an "offer" to a "name" talent and Jackson Leighton (Stuart) who was a referral by the original actor that was supposed to play that part dropping out two weeks before shooting.
Guile Branco wasn't going to direct it at first. He would only act and produce his original screenplay. Once pre-production got underway, he had become too close to the story and wanted to protect his vision, so he took the plunge. To make sure he wouldn't make directing mistakes, he hired an experienced Assistant Director (Genevieve Kertesz) who is an AFI alumni director (American Film Institute). He reportedly told her "not to let him screw this up."
