Welcome to Emmy week! And we’re already off to a record-breaking event, as FX’s “Shōgun” has made history before the Primetime Emmys ceremony even takes place. “General Hospital” led night one of the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, winning four prizes — including the outstanding daytime drama Emmy. “General Hospital” won the top daytime drama award for the fourth year in a row.

“Gh” took an early lead as proceedings got underway, including writing, directing and supporting actor performance in a daytime drama series (Robert Gossett as Marshall Ashford). While accepting the honor for daytime drama directing, the show’s team paid tribute to Johnny Wactor, the former “Gh” performer who was recently killed.

Besides Gossett from “Gh,” daytime acting awards were spread out among several shows, with CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” winning two — for lead actress (Michelle Stafford as Phyllis Summers) and supporting actress (Courtney Hope as Sally Spectra). After the first round of nods were announced, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences revealed the remaining nominations on Friday morning (April 19)

The upcoming awards celebrate and recognize “outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary and legal/courtroom programs.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show leads the daytime talk show categories with nine noms while The Young and the Restless‘ Eric Braeden earned his first nomination in over 20 years!

Matador Content co-founder Todd Lubin has been named president of unscripted at Boat Rocker Studios. He’ll be taking over the role from Jay Peterson, whose exit was also announced on Thursday. HIs appointment is effective immediately.

Peterson will remain with Boat Rocker as an executive producer for several months, to support the transition to Lubin and delivery of current projects. “Downey’s Dream Cars” chronicles a team of auto experts who convert traditional gas-powered cars into electric vehicles. The program was inspired by Rdj’s Footprint Coalition, his 4-year-old environmental organization that works to mitigate climate change.

The science and engineering featured on the show may remind viewers of Downey Jr.’s iconic work as Tony Stark in the MCU.
